Those were some great ideas, too. I particularly like World of Mafiacraft. Apples to Apples was a bit overdone, though.
Screw you, you don't steal our ideas.Apparently, my idea of world of mafiacraft, so you guys can give us an advantage.
lol, wouldn't touch it.-

whatthemeep1: Our secret QT between me and TS, you know.
ricardochamorro3: KNOWS THE QT
Please tell me what the point of all this scheming was. I mean, really, what could you hope to gain in the one game that was 100% based on putting forth a solid effort. It's hard-work, creativity, and proving yourself to be the best at making and moderating a game.
It's not survivor. Alliances are pointless. Scheming is pointless. Trying to get our QT is pointless. What would you have done if you'd gotten it, tried to steal our ideas? Not that that's the accusation I'm making. It's just the only possible end that I can think of.
Your game so far has been absolutely unsuited for Apprentice, kiwi. And your bullshit has cost one of your strongest members, diginova to just be sick of dealing with it.
Congrats. That's what you've wrought.-

It wasn't overconfidence that inspired me to post our QT, though it would be lying to imply that I am not exceedingly proud of the work we've done these past couple days. Rather, it was a wish to get away from the underhanded dealings that were going on previously. And a bit of curiosity. I knew how our project was going. I wanted to see how the other team was doing, as well. The simplest and most straightforward gesture I could think of was to offer up ours.Blackberry wrote:Cybele
- Why did you post your team's discussion in the thread, what advantage do you think this provides your team? Were you cocky that your team was going to win?
The way I see it, there's no real loss in letting the competition know where you're at. It changes nothing about your end result. It can only effect their result, either by demoralizing them, or hopefully, by encouraging them to strive further. I want a real competition out of this. That's why I did what I've done, posting our QT discussion among other things.
Certainly. The submission is nearly flawless, in my mind. We've worked tirelessly on its completion, at times going beyond what was necessary. If there are failings in its design or presentation, I do not see them. Not for want of not seeing them, mind.Blackberry wrote:- Are you satisfied with your team's final submission?
Deadline was closing soon, and I didn't wish to miss it. Mist hadn't been active in awhile, so I took it upon myself to submit our finished project. Not that I want to imply that Mist was lying down on the job. No one can be online all the time. It was just precautionary.Blackberry wrote:- Why did you send me the final submission and not Mist7676?
TornadoSwirl comes to mind. Similarly, JDGA. The first is an inexcusable flake. The second claims to have issues reaching the Quicktopic, but never mentioned any of this to us for quite a long time, nor did he contribute in other ways.Blackberry wrote:- Who on your team were the weak links?
I participated fully in the discussion, building upon ideas proposed by kloud, ZazieR and ani, and proposing my own. I wrote the first draft of the Essay (Assignment #1), and worked with kloud and DonJosh to edit it down to fit guidelines. I helped to edit kloud's flavour and designs for Assignment #2. Aside from that, I helped us to stay on task, keep motivated, and prod lurkers.Blackberry wrote:
I designed the banner for Team Excel's OP. I also helped to format the assignment, and discussed some adjustments in mechanics with their Project Manager Tragedy.
I had a metric fuckton of fun. I had a completely unrelated person post inflammatory material in thread in an attempt to stop certain players' attempts at subterfuge. I participated in juvenile sabotage.
I helped decide our team name, though the final suggestion that was accepted was not mine.-

This is a competition with the goal of:Blackberry wrote:
I think that my actions do more to prove my desire and ability to act as a successful co-moderator than they would reflect poorly on our team for the competition. I stand by my actions, and believe that even if my team does not win this challenge, the end result is a better competition which will result in better competitors lasting through to the end of the game. I think I've only benefitted you, as the final (nay, sole) judge of who is to become your Apprentice.Blackberry wrote:[...finding]an Apprentice to assist me in the co-moderation of an upcoming game I am planning. This apprentice will assist me with storyline development, plot twists, game mechanics, updates, etc. With our powers combined, we will create the ultimate Mish Mash game that will go down in history as the BEST GAME EVER.
And I think you see that.
Oh, and Tragedy totally didn't ask for my help. I just sort of found a way into her team's QT and helped incognito. It was one of my slip-ups that revealed who I was. I blame her team for not helping her during the crunch-time.-

I like it, but I think similar games have been done, even in recent past. Wizard battle is fairly close, in theme and some mechanics, though this Warlock is thankfully simpler, and has the addition of a playing-field. And team mechanics.Blackberry wrote:
It's also rather similar to Rumble games, but I suppose that's cursory.
I probably wouldn't play it, but that's just personal preference.
Oh, and I actually dislike the fundamentals they've chosen. Some of them seem kinda... dumb.-

lol no. Just commenting on how it's basically my fault that your game is being called 'christmassy'. And that I not only saw it coming, but failed to listen to my own advice anyways.Tragedy wrote:Cybele wrote:

Is it to prove that I'm pinning the credits on you or?
Yeah, I have nothing much to say anyways about the colors.
bit of a failure on my part.-

noun

I just don't think some of the choices you made are really fundamentals of a mish mash game.-

The point of comparison was to note that it had echoed previous games. It was not a criticism of Rumbles, or Wizard battle, for that matter.
Also:
cur·so·ry[kur-suh-ree]
adjective
going rapidly over something, without noticing details; hasty;superficial:a cursory glance at a newspaper article.-

It could be phrased better as 'diligence'. Not actually all that bad, it parallels with our weakest fundamental 'mod commitment'. Actually, I suppose I'm a bit hesitant to criticize this for that reason. Still, qualities of the moderator aren't qualities of the game. For that reason, diligence and commitment aren't really good fundamentals.Blackberry wrote:Team ExcelMish Mash Needs
The first fundamental is hosting your game to the best of your ability.
No problem here. A bit similar to ours of 'theme flavouring', but yours also includes presentation. An improvement, actually. The second fundamental is to lend class to your game through good narrative and
pleasing aesthetics. The third fundamental is to keep the game simple.
Meh. I guess...
So this one is actually 'have lots of players?'A game lives and dies based on its player activity (Notify the Players often), which is why letting many players engage in the game is the fourth fundamental.
If that's right, it's not a fundamental.
Meh.The final fundamental is to make your game fast-paced.
I'll be honest. I probably just like my fundamentals better than yours. They just seem to cut into what the key aspects of a game is more than yours do. Mine seem more about game theory, and yours more about keeping the game active.-

Not every successful game needs to be a new idea, Ferris Wheel is hardly new these days yet there's a few seperate games of that on the first page alone. There's also existing games like Yahtzee and Word Morph.Leonshade wrote:Well, they were supposed to be the fundamentals of aphenomenalMish Mash game.
I wouldn't consider the sequels of Ferris Wheel to be phenomenal. The original, sure.-

Okay, so as you should know, we're all run by two major emotions: hate and pity. It's the combination and interaction between these two emotions that give us the four quadrants of romance. These are typically divided into two hemispheres: red romance (♥,♦) and black romance (♣, ♠). Red romance is the pity hemisphere, and black romance is governed by hate.
Within the red hemisphere we have:
♥Matespriteship: Also called the flushed quadrant. Matesprits feel a sort of strong affection to each other, that is sexual in nature, as well.
♦Moirallegiance: Also called the pale quadrant. Moirails act to keep each other balanced. Often in a sort of straight man/wise guy dynamic where two opposites act as each others foil as well protect each other and keep each other company
In the black hemisphere is:
♣Auspistice: Also called the ashen quadrant. An auspistice is a facilitator between two others, mediating interactions between them and keeping their relationship functional. Black romances without an auspistice often fall into kismesissitude. The auspistice keeps two people linked in hate from letting their hate grow so much that they become a sort of caliginous infidelity.
♠Kismesissitude: Also called the caliginous quadrant. Both parties feel a deep hatred for each other that thrives on rivalry and breeds sexual tension.
It's worth noting that all four quadrants are unstable and often slide between each other in relationships. Feelings of matespriteship may be returned with kismesissitude, or a kismesissitude may flip to and fro with matespriteship.
Moirallegiences can shift to either flushed or caliginous in a heartbeat, and all that keeps an ashen romance from becoming sexual is the meddling of the auspistice.
It's all very complicated.-
