^Lol at the above.

I thought Vi already had been nommed for that. I guess not.

Vi deserves the title, was self nomming the best way to go about getting it? Eh, probably not.

But its said and done now. Vi self nommed. Its looked down upon but not totally banned. Usually it ends up in the selfnommer not getting the title due to acting selfish. But I think this is an entirely different scenario.

Again, Vi totally deserves this title. Without the self nomination I would Nth instantly. With the Self Nom. I am hesitating. But it wasn't the self nom that made me hesitate. It was the tone of the post.

Like, "I did this. I did this. I did this. Give me this title. Now. Its mine."

Yes its yours, Vi. But you can say please you know?

So yeah.

Hesitating is over now,
Nth

Oh,
Nth
.

She totally deserved that, and for an award like that, the truth is that had she not self-nommed, that might have gone entirely unnoticed.

Wrong. There are plenty of people she could've talked to about it in private. Yes people are lazy, but yes people tend to give credit where credit is due when called out on it. Tactless in public, humble in private. Take your pick. Who cares.

That's my point -- am I on crack or does Vi not have three scummy wins from last year beside her name?

It's not like she's this community slave whose work goes unnoticed. She won Professor Mafia last year ffs

Self-noming is wrong.

Counter Nth
, I'm very much opposed to her winning this scummy for this nomination now. :?

Any 'noming of her for this scummy for this entire nominiation period is now tainted by this, all around bad form from those involved.

Countering is just as bad form as self-noming.

I REPEAT, THIS ARGUMENT IS SILLY. IF YOU HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM WITH IT, TAKE IT UP WITH THE JUDGES, BECOME A JUDGE YOURSELF, OR MAKE A NEW RULE FOR NEXT YEAR'S SCUMMIES.

Bad form has been admitted, and even Vi I think agrees self-nominating is an incorrect move. But are you
really
against him winning a scummy for it if the judges think he contributed the most? REALLY? That's the type of standard you want? Someone who puts in countless hours making the site and community better is now barred from official recognition because he made a faux pas?

Don't be ridiculous.

I don't mind when someone counterclaims on the basis of a substantive disagreement because the judges should get a full view of what happened. If, for example, Vi did hardly any work and it was some other faceless servant who did, then counterclaim so it's known to the judges. But here, you're simply being a jerk.

oh ffs, you really believe this?

Whatever faux pas you perceive aside, she really does deserve it and works way harder on this site than 99% of the people here. I highly doubt this is going to start a flood of self-noms, and even if it did this has clearly shown there is a flood of rabble rousers ready to shoot it down at the first sight! No need to worry.

Meanwhile, we all know it's deserving. So, let's accept the nomination/Nths and move on.

That said:

Motion to change "Professor Mafia" to "Best Contribution to Mafia Thought"
(This is from "Best Contribution to Mafia Discussion/Wiki")

I think this better encapsulates what "Professor Mafia" should mean. First, I don't think its presence in Mafia Discussion is necessary. It could take place in a game, it could be published on the wiki (such as Vi's guide).

Furthermore, this allows the Behind the Scenes award to be given to someone who did a lot of work on the wiki (this name doesn't need to change because once wiki is removed from professor mafia, it naturally falls under that category).

EDIT: I had "theory" instead of "thought" but I don't think that's broad enough. For example, Hoopla's push for 13 players and better balance in minis deserved an award because it changed how people moderated games for the better. But that's not really "theory"

Buncha emo donks.

TBM has done like... What for the site? But he's whining about a self-nom?

Nth

Self-noms are fine. If you deserve it you should be recognized; if you really don't, well, lol.

People should selflessly do things for no recognition, and most of the people saying that have done nothing.

Dubs lol at Fate, who cries at me all the time for "not giving him the recognition he deserves." Hypocrite.

While its an addition, I want to make sure POWERFUL WIZARD MAFIA is noted for Reck's Most Cunning Manipulation.

He faked a guilty D1 got a lynch through before the person could even respond AND then rode that all the way to a perfect win.

Wait, what? I was just :?ing about xRx claiming an impossible role last week and the game's already over?

*checks the Reck in isolation*

Impressive. xRx has simultaneously mastered and destroyed CAPS LOCK. (That and produced one of those 2005-style 17-page games.)

Pretty much this.

Especially for something like this, where Vi's put in a lot of work writting up all that she has, it's a shame when it starts giving off such an impression as the above.

Yes, but you do get the point I'm saying.

As seen in the thread, it has obviously led to said impression in the minds of many.

It's not how you are that matters in this case Vi, but rather how others perceive you.
