When you finally reach Metropolis, your destination, you are all shocked speechless. There is hardly a city block in sight that is not swarming with Black Lanterns of all races, abilities, and ages. And standing in the center of it all stand three shadowy figures, who appear to be the leaders of this terrible mindless herd. Nekron, hardly more than a talking skeleton, points at you with his scythe, laughing. The Black Lanterns all around you charge, and immediately get mowed down by many beams of colored light. Your group cuts a swath through the darkness to the center of the city. Nekron is surprised to see you reach him so quickly, but calm motions forward one of his captains. You recognized the twisted form of Scar immediately. Just as she is about to hurl dark energy at you from her power source, the Book of the Black, a few scattered heroes come to your aid. They don't carry rings, but they can still do their job. Scar falls to the ground, writhing in pain, with multiple objects embedded in her head. She is not in pain for long, because you immediately decapitate her.
"The brutality!", chuckles Nekron.
"I've had enough of your chatter, [Redacted]!", replies one of you.
A beam goes out from a green ring, putting a bullet-sized hole right between the eyes of your adversary. His body hits the dust and you breathe a sigh of relief. But the third figure rushes to grab the falling scythe. You think you catch a glimpse of someone you recognize right before everything changes.

A white beam pierces through the blackness. And then a second one. And a third and a fourth one. Soon the whole sky is riddled with white light. Finally you recognize its source. White rings are flying through the air looking for someone or something. Some are approaching fallen heroes, some are soaring far into the distance. But most of them are heading directly towards your group.
And standing before you is....no. It can't be.
NEKRON.
He laughs, and disappears, along with the remaining Black Lanterns.
The day continues.
"In these revered pages lies all the knowledge of the Guardians. Our rings will ask what it knows, and translate its text into words you understand. Watch and learn..."
