There were two mostly confirmed town players left in LyLo and MyLo along with Yosarian, and they did not even vote at ALL Day 6, forcing a no lynch. They didn't decide, "Hey, let's no lynch." They just sat there paralyzed and watched Yos and CTD battle.

And MBL was gunsmithed but otherwise would never have been lynched - and was so very town looking that he very nearly won the 1 v 1 vs the gunsmith. Yosarian was the person who turned that tide.

I'd like to
second
CTD's nomination of
Best Performance for a Losing Cause
. I think the claim was only a small part of CTD's play that game, so I think this is the better award category. It's also more standard to associate other awards with wins as a screening mechanism, so I think earning this one is more likely.

While Yosarian's scumreads were excellent, I don't think he did a very good job of convincing others. I would personally attribute most of the lynches to other causes (e.g. a counter-claim by scum for the SK, an investigative result and ramifications therefrom for the other scum).

I think best performance in a losing cause is a backhanded compliment, and think the category should be abolished.

If anything, you could argue CTD for most cunning manipulation.

Then again, MBL did play a big role in that. It was a real communal scum team. we had a blast.

How is that a backhand award? It recognizes good play that for whatever reason *just* wasn't good enough.

I personally think that the Best Performance in a Losing Cause is a very honorable award.

The fact that you knew whatever happened that you would lose and still playing to maximum just to try and turn it around. It really is a display of sportsmanship on the PLayers part to not just whine about how unfair things are for them and to just do their best.

Yeah it sucks to lose, I know, but I really highly respect those players who show that level of maturity and skill regardless of current circumstance.

The difference between best manipulation and best performance in a losing cause is best manipulation is working the long con all along and best performance in a losing cause is just fighting till the end.
Although the border between madness and genius is very narrow.

What? Are you mad?
This is still a game, right? We all like winning, of course... But when I think that I am in two games now where there are two scum dead on D2... You always want the other team and its individual players to be good and put up a fierce fight. And it's bad if some one just strikes the sails when it looks bad for them. The "losing cause" award recognizes this. It's not about being remembered for losing (after all, it couls also be that a lone scum player survives for several days and wins in the end, or maybe that town makes it through 3 days of perpetual LyLo sucessfully). Why shouldn't that be recognized?

Except that it's not an emphasis on the fact that you lost; it's an emphasis that you did a really damn good job and that if there were more players like you in the game, you would have definitely won.

The player who receives the title was not a loser. His team was. He, individually, did well.

I’d like to Nominate

for
‘Best Performance Pro-Town Group’

In a 9-3 complicated set-up (each player had a different role in four distinct timezones) the Town players ended the game by lynch Day 2.

Summary of Town Play

Two of three scum were identified as top scum suspects early Day 1. Town did not allow any other counter-wagons to form and lynched scum Day 1.

Day 2 the Town 1 shot Dayvig shot the second scum suspect and Town then carefully took it’s time reviewing the two dead scum and most likely remaining suspects to pick the last scum out and hang him while not being fooled by a mod-provided fake-claim of a major source flavor character.

Overall Town in general played very well and by Day 2 there were only one or two viable candidates for mislynch based on poor Town play (which mostly had to do with inactivity).
"I am a leaf on the wind ... watch how I soar!"

Pretty much Geriatric game restricted at this point ... unless there are players I REALLY want to play with.
