Deciding not to claim until you're sure you're going to be lynched can be good play, but only when matched with an actual attempt to shake off his lynch.

He instead poorly softclaimed and basically waited to get wagoned further, thus gumming up the works.

Lol FUUUUU I didn't mind the graphics.
And obviously this game has stalled a bit, and lynching Meransiel is more likely to move this game forward than suddenly getting a bunch of people to flip to Wrath.

Suddenly, a bank of lights is shot out, plunging half of the arena into darkness. The sound of several shots and explosions are heard from the darkened area, followed by some high pitched screams.
