Expect the next challenge to be posted by tomorrow evening, the schoolyear's starting and summer is about to come to an end.

Thankfully, we're almost there! Cephrir, Cuddlycaucasian, Snakes, TS, welcome to the Final Four!

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE 13

Individual Immunity – The Sand Between My Prose

rip a branch and
write with me
about the wind, the sand
the sea

Look
at that beach! Isn't it beautiful? Free of rocks and debris, it's just waiting to be messed with.

... And mess with it you will! In today's challenge, you'll be writing poetry in the sand!

Free-form, Haiku, Limerick, anything goes. There's just one catch - The tide is coming in fast, and the waves are getting higher. Your time is short, which is why your work has to remain
under 300 characters
.

Please consider the following criteria when creating your piece of art***:

1) Is the piece of writing creative/innovative?
2) Does it adhere to the overall theme of summer?
3) Does the piece have a fitting title?
4) Does it adhere to the character limit? (Title doesn't count towards limit)

Other than the above four rules - go wild!

-

When you have finished your submission, post it in the thread, in public. Yes, in public! There is no place to hide your beauty on the beach - Flaunt it! Be warned, however, as if you've posted your piece already, you may not post another. The judges do not allow second chances.

You have
48 hours
to post your submission.

Once that time has passed, I will appoint 3 impartial judges that will grade the submissions. Whoever obtains the highest average score wins
Individual Immunity
!

I feel like impartiality would be easier if the submissions were anonymous =S

I trust the judges I select to be impartial, and there was no issue raised with the previous creativity-judging challenge, so I assumed you would be fine with it. If all four remaining castaways oppose public tagging though, the rules will be revised.

True, I suppose. I'm just biased because it seems more likely to work against me now than before. Oh well.

Tears and smoke in the summer

If my house burning down, and I could save just one thing
It would be no photograph, no art or diamond ring

But an empty cigarette packet
From an empty summer past
On which you first wrote that you loved me
And all else left to say.
That packet showed me life,
But it took your own away

Perhaps if I was ever in that fire
I wouldn’t save a thing

Let flames hold me in your arms

My poem is about Survivor in general, along with Summertime.

Footprints on a Beach

Child and dog, happy just to be
Patterns soon traceless save I see
Wash away, wash away.

A woman, cold feet upon warm sand
An old friend, for one last time, and...
Wash away, wash away.

Great rock monoliths, proud and high
I fill their pores over and over as I
Wash away, wash away.

And someday I, at a slower pace
On sands of time, in empty space
Wash away, wash away.

The Memory of Summer

Summer is sadly coming to a close.
As summer ends, it is replaced by fall.
No more feeling the ocean on your toes.
Instead, we are now hearing school's call.

I won't forget the time I went camping.
I remember snorkeling on the beach,
And the last time I saw my friends, dancing.
The sadness as I said goodbye to each.

No more eating ice cream that is creamy.
There will be no more family picnics,
I'll miss seeing girls in bikinis.
But maybe I am just an old cynic.

As I go through all that makes Summer great,
I'm happy, though a whole year I will wait.
