If town had lynched just one more person correctly, the fact that the lovers were unkillable would have made the game virtually unwinnable for scum.
If the setup is imbalanced, the key figure driving that imbalance, I believe, was our rolecop. Without it, we might have tried to kill the Lovers again and again, or let PeregrineV survive and then claim at some critical moment, or allowed Brian to take aim at Aronis as he seemed quite interested in doing.
The silencer role was basically useless. You can't step in the same river twice.-

oh right we should post the roles
I know that now, but we didn't when we tried twice to kill them
Further, when they were rolecopped, Aronis wasn't told that beyond "Conditional commuter," right?Join me on my quest to play every NES game! Some of them are awful.
Kuribo's read is foolproof: one night he was high on NyQuil, and he's ancestors reveiled Aureal's alignment to him. - Dessew-

Oh lol.
You didn't just say that.
I think a lot of the issue is that town power in this setup is fairly easily quantifiable, whereas scum power (control of shift distribution, silencer) are "outplay" type things that require skill, and are therefore usually underestimated in terms of power (sort of like how masons are usually undervalued by people)-

zor was given to us as scum before I had a chance to get a read there, but I knew the guilty result was real, and treated it as such.
I had hiplop as scum.
I had Serene as scum more than I didn't, and the times I didn't were largely out of apathy.
I don't remember my Aronis read, or my Jordan read. However, I know for a fact that I had Jordan as scum at least at some point after I died in spite of my apathy.
The only scum I had entirely out of my sights was Zdenek.
You, on the other hand, frankly led basically most of the mislynches the entire game from what I remember. I distinctly recall comments in the dead PT that if you weren't scum, you were honorary scum or something to that effect. That you were a scum MVP.
There was no blame to be placed on me. Helpful hint--when basically every single player in the game (including scum) are saying that there was nothing wrong with my play...chances are, there was nothing wrong with my play.My academy.

6 scum with some pretty strong PRs tilted the scales a little considering scum had almost total control over who was interacting with whom in a mechanic that already promotes limited interaction.
The game was optimized assuming people would act in an optimal manner starting day 1 and realistically that didn't actually happen until like episode 3 or 4.
Not the fault of the mods that things got pretty one-sided as the game went on.
Flavor was excellent. Like. lol.
Mastin and AP's mess of an episode 1 made the game a lot harder then it should have, but everything else can be driven to poor commitment on lynches from individuals and a lot of do-nothing from people like myself, Goat and ika that let Hiplop and Jordan coast until endgame basically for free.or something like that....-

Oh, I loved our control of shift distribution.
But because of how the Silencer role worked and which people were actually playing the game, it basically didn't work. For example, our silencing of IJ didn't actually happen until his shift was actually over. And other times, no one really noticed that anyone had been quieted until several shifts later.
But thanks for the implicit insult. You can't step in the same river twice.-

Having reads is not the same as doing something about them....but since most of the playerlist wanted you lynched (and you got lynched) you can't tell me you played a good game either. I know I didn't play a good game and I'm not proclaiming that I did. You proclaimed from post number one that you were a mafia God and should have been treated as such.-

You'd only be silenced for the rest of that shift, not the whole episode. To be clear: quack-

Correction: I had Zdenek in my sights as well. I had no read on Aronis basically the whole game. (That was mainly AP's read.) Though I had Jordan as a townread when I was posting frequently, again, somewhere along the line, that stopped and I had him as scum.In post 3758, mastin2 wrote:The only scum I had entirely out of my sights was Zdenek.

(Also, I actually was trying to read the content in every shift and trying to keep apathy at bay. Real life got in the way of me playing a fair amount, of course. But I was actually trying.)My academy.

I find that I have the inverse problem as town (I'm not very good at generating reads but can usually tell people who I want dead and make it happen). Crippling either way.You can't step in the same river twice.-

Like. When I have reason to be humble, I'm humble.
But this game...
I was obvtown.
AP was obvtown.
Our combined obvtown was such that the strongest scum players in the game (at the time) were willing to risk it all to get us lynched.
Every strong player pretty much is saying that we were obvtown. Over half the scum had to be on that lynch to make it go through, and it went through mainly thanks to a deadline at that. So we were town.
Our reads weren't bad. They weren't perfect, but they were good. You even have the scum saying that we were SO much of a threat that they were willing to risk basically everything and sacrifice a lot in order to take us out--because our accuracy was threatening. We were on the right track.
We put effort into reading the other shift and, most importantly of all, trying to keep the town united in spite of the mechanic. (Which is something that most players didn't do.) We fought the apathy hard. We were actually trying to hold the game together when the nature of the mechanic made it pathetically easy to tear it apart. When many players just decided to flat-out not read what was happening in the other shift and caved in to apathy, not really caring to unify.
Did I give this game as much as I could have, no. Is there things I could have done better, yes. But again: "played terribly", my.ass
It should tell you something that the scum thought us basically one of the most dangerous town players in the game. That generally tells you, y'know...that we were among the least-terribly-playing players in the entire game.My academy.
