You do not have to wait...but your own action requires the completion of other ongoing actions before you may take another. Thus, if you were to take an action, your previous action would be nullified. It is, of course, your choice.

The reasoning is threefold: first, were he to be doing the maintenance himself, he would be unable to guard. The guard is, as noted, not completely incompetent. Second, he is trained as a guard, and that is his only responsibility. He does not know how to perform the maintenance. Third, the maintenance worker is particularly competent with plumbing, thus, requires less tools than most would to fix it, and is naturally the person most suited for the task. It is therefore entirely logical that the guard would retrieve the maintenance worker for this task.

The guard turns around to face you menacingly, moving in closer. You have the feeling that he has the intention to hurt you severely. However, when he gets close enough, you strike first, stabbing him in the eye. He lets out a cry of pain, punching you in the face. You get knocked back for your troubles, and now have even further head injuries to deal with. The guard staggers backwards, nearly bumping into the maintenance worker, but is beginning to recover, now with a murderous look in his eye. He draws from his uniform a dagger......

None of us are sure of our crimes or if we ever did actually commit any. You are the all powerful being of the universe and I know you have the power to help us. Once we are out we can find a way to survive, I just need your help for this one thing. What I would specifically like is for the guard to die as he is imprisoning us for no reason and for all of our prison cells to be opened by you so we can get out. The cruelty of this man is against your teachings of being so awesome.
