You head towards the darkness. When you reach the back of the room, you see a wall, blocking further progress. On the wall, you observe some writing. It reads: "In darkness, light cannot exist without me."

Clarification: only those in immediate proximity to the wall may answer. However, given the close proximity of the players and their mind link, I will take any attempt from a player not currently near the wall to answer it as an additional action of walking (or backtracking, for those near the light) towards the wall. e.g. if player_EspeciallyTheLies blurted out an answer, then player_EspeciallyTheLies would move from the stairwell to the wall. This will only be until the riddle is answered.

When you head up the stairs, you observe there are three directions you may head: to the right, there is a door. To the left, there is an open walkway, where the light is strongest. Straight ahead, there is a stairway heading up, with windows of light coming through. It would appear you are at ground level.

Clarification: you can switch to the light/darkness sides right now at will, but right now is the only time it is a "free" action. Once players head down the stairs and/or head to one of the three directions from the light, they will be too far apart for it to be instantaneous. You may still switch until I tell you that you cannot, but it will take a full update for the transition after this point.
Thus, I will delay the next update to allow players to make their decision, and then I will inform you of your positions. (Those who do not specify up/down will be assigned to whichever of the two has more players already assigned. If there is a tie, then I will decide.)

INFORMATION: New players may still join the game at any time, until I say they may not. They may choose a direction until I say they cannot, but will by default be assumed to favor heading towards the largest group.
I don't like that where I am is the direction with the most people. For now though I guess I'll just hope that there are more branching paths up ahead, and eat the loss of an action later if I need to double back to one of the three upstairs paths.

You fall into a dreamstate to analyze the darkness once more. Beyond the staircase down, you can tell even though nobody has yet to go down that you will encounter another barrier, one easier than the first but which carries a great danger.
