Looking back, I think its clear Phate had no idea what "Safe Claim" meant in our terms.

There are a few phrasing oddities based on his claim and a few posts after it, but not the way ryan has held on to his second slip.

I don't get it. The scum don't have a safe claim. If they did, the way I'd know it would be to be a vanilla, in a game where all vanillas have the same rolename.

I meant that if all the vanillas were lettuce, that would be giving the scum a safe claim... but I also couldn't know that unless I was vanilla

Something in these last two just don't jive with the others for me. He came out saying scum would just claim lettuce, but later says they don't have a safe claim because all the vanillas are different. Then his last quote, that if all vanillas were the same that he'd have given them a safe claim...

I don't know. Something about it just seems odd, but it could just be his initial lack of understanding the term Safe Claim causing me to read everything later wrong, even while trying to account for it.

What I meant: The scum don't know for certain that there's something they can claim, like they did if all vanillas were lettuce and a vanilla said so. But I couldn't know that unless I was a vanilla lettuce, anyway.

As previously stated, I misunderstood the term safe claim.

That doesn't confirm you though. Being confirmed usually happens when you're lynched (unless a cop gets a verdict on you first)

Yes. Both. I've never been in a game where the vanillas were different, so I assumed that after the first person claimed vanilla and a rolename, the scum would claim the same thing. I figured that the first vanilla would be cleared and no one else would be, so I claimed lettuce first.

I have one question though, forgive me if i missed this point, How would Phate know how to claim lettuce assuming that its was an actual role without actually being town? I still don't quite get what this entire argument was about..

Assuming you really did understand it that way, do you really think it would be a good idea to clear yourself by letting the mafia fake their claims? Even if it did work like that, you'd probably be the first one to get NKed...

That was what he was doing: He claimed vanilla lettuce. No one else had done so yet, so he couldn't have got it from any one else. All other lettuce-vanillas now know he's town and won't lynch him.

But in this game all vanillas are (Apparently) different and scum might have safe claims, so it didn't work.
