Blackberry: Coming out with some "theory" (when you could have easily kept it to yourself) and than jumping on people and being very defense on legit questions what said "theory" was isn't helpful to the town (it's distracting) Now we've got players who find you hiding something (which to me seems a stretch) It's not worth a vote but I have to admit I don't understand your intentions for doing this and keeping it up.

Even though bringing up a theory and then vehemently refusing to share it is obviously scummy, I don't care about your theory, it sounded like humor to me anyway. My vote has everything to do with you separating yourself from the town.

I agree he could have kept that he was researching a theory to himself until he found evidence to support it. Having responded to me that he is still riding on it for awhile, I'm willing to accept why he wouldn't want to reveal it just yet, though I dont know about the style of response to the first people who asked him about it, could be his usual playstyle.
What I don't understand is why you are blaming him for doing it and keeping it up? Perhaps because people keep bringing it up and he has to respond to it? Or do you mean that you don't understand why he has stuck to his guns after the pressure over it? I'm more apt to believe that someone who holds out like that is straight talking than scum stalling to make up something. Maybe face to face a stutter or stall when talking might mean he is trying to buy time, but on the internet? You've got hours to sit there and come up with something if needed.

Some comments while I am waiting for Johoohoo to respond to my last post: I can't really sympathize with the attacks against Blackberry that are based on his secret theory. I agree with Extomancer post #132 on that subject. The aspect of Blackberry that I find much more interesting is his possible connection to Rosso Carne - SlySly's hint in #122 brought this back to my attention. Judging the two guys in this couple individually, I would say that RC is the currently scummier one, considering that he has still said next to nothing with quite a few posts, and his promise to say some very interesting things until last tuesday. Blackberry is still drawing a lot of my attention with his style of posting, but that can still be attributed to aggressive playstyle in my opinion.

Yes I've been keeping a low profile intentionally. I am trying not to post uninteresting comments in a game with this many players. I want my posts to bring up something noone has commented on yet or give my arguments in a given situation (as I believe my posts so far have been, except for my first random vote that is). You can trust me on posting when I react to something I find noticeable, and you can trust me on following the game closely. Also, do bear in mind that the one who posts the mosts isn't townie by proxy (and vice versa).

As I'm still a guite new player in mafia games I'm still experimenting with my game style - if you check my newbie game 501 (link in my signature) you'll see that I was on to the scums pretty early on, but was lynched anyway - probably because I posted too much. Obviously that wasn't the way to work, now I'm trying a different style, seeing if it's possible to get my point of views in the games without posting too much.

Okay, but then there remains one question: if we consider your explanation as a justification for keeping a low profile, why do you mention the possible existence of an additional anti-town role (SK) and the number of low-profile-keepers in the same breath, then? Couldn't the other low-profile-keepers also just be using your style of playing, then?

That is both possible and probable (since we're twelve I guess there are no more than three mafias, and if there is an SK there might be as few as two scums). Though, I think my posts have added, in my view valuable, content most of the time, whereas a few other low profile players only marked their presence with a post.

I looky at RC's past games. I can not find a distinguishable pattern. Am I allowed to reference other games? I found one where he posted absolutely nothing the first couple pages and he was town.

This sort of thing is regarded as unfair on this forum. That said, I do it fairly frequently. What you're definitely not allowed to do, though, are reference other games on this forum that are currently in progress. You've been here for three years. You should know this. Now, all of this being said, I can't find another game where you've gone color/text size crazy like you have in this one. It must mean something.

This is a very good catch! I'd been feeling a little wary of SlySly but couldn't put my finger on why. I think you might be on to something here. That said, let's not speculate on game setup just yet. In particular, it's profitless to speculate about the existence of a SK until we've got proof of the existence of more than one night killer.

Since your keeping-a-low-profile seems to be intentional, this makes me belief that you might be one of the scums, or the SK.

I think there's been far too much discussion of what is -- honestly -- a relatively minor plot point in this game. I agree with most of the rest of your post on it. I find the people who keep bringing this up annoying and somewhat suspect.

Don't get too discouraged by this. I almost always get night-killed the first night because I spot stuff, talk about it, and make scum nervous. In one game, I was targeted by both the SK and the mafia group, effectively double-killed the first night, heh. That said, the town almost always wins the games where I get killed early, so I've come not to mind it too much.

I do not know why I'm doing it, perhaps I like the attention? LOL. I only continued to do it in different colors to mock whomever it was that brought it up in the first place (you?).

If you noticed, my "PREVIOUS GAMES" are all quite from a LONG time ago. This is one of my first games I've played in a LONG time. I'm currently in one other game and then three games JUST started. I do not recall if I am using colored text in the other game I've been playing in, but I can check. .

I also enjoy using Size 17 text, am I allowed to do that in this game? Another MOD got mad at me for it .

Jester -- if you want to refrence my MISH MASH games you can see I certainly enjoy using colored-text. (I've been hosting Mish-Mash games a lot recently, but haven't been playing mafia until now).
