I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that it is especially important for townies to read other players posts thoroughly to find gaps in logic and reasoning in order to find scum - I, for instance try to take notes during the game, and I believe other to do that as well. If you are scum you can perhaps get away without taking notes. Then when you find a person that you want to throw suspicion on you can just go back and find appropriate quotes and put them together in a way that fits your plan. I don't say that as a way how all scum play, but it surely is one way. I believe that those mentioned did just that. (I would like to get some comments on this, am I on the right track or in the blue.)

Lynching or voting?

About the lynching part, I agree that it might seem like strong language and that wasn't entirely my intention. I am not rushing for a lynch, though I wanted the discussion to move on. When I first played mafia on another site we were on a deadline every third day and the one with the most votes were lynched even if it wasn't a majority lynch when we reached the deadline. I enjoyed that kind of game and perhaps my game style has been influenced by that first impression of the game where you speedily had to build up cases and see how and who reacted. I have tried to adapt to this more stretched time span, but might occasionally seem to want to move on. Sorry about that.

Finally I think that we might have a serial killer amongst us, making this game MOSTLY mountainuous (or those of you who are more knowledgeable than I, is there a setup name for vanillas, scums and a SK?). There are quite a few players, myself included, keeping a really low profile.

Why even bring this up? It's certainly a possibility that there is a serial killer in the game, but unless you had some knowledge the rest of us don't (i.e. your role) there's no reason to be certain of that. Any attempt to base your conclusion on the name of the game is an attempt to out-guess the mod, and that's something that's pretty well useless.

Yyou are bringing up a point very close to what made me attack Johoohoo in the first place (cf. my post #117). Therefore, I would be interested in knowing whether you think that Johoo's last sentence in your quote is related to the rest of the quote or not.

The next post of great significance is the famous post 169. Now, the main issue in this post is the "lynch someone and get it over with" attitude that you seem to be conveying here. It seemed, in your post, that you weren't really interested in who got lynched, but rather that it happen as soon as possible. This sort of attitude is indicative of someone who is far more interested in night than in the day.

QFT - as I mentioned before in #187, this is also my main problem with Johoo's post, besides points 1 and 6 of SlySly's list. Johoo's reply to point 1 seems fine, however

So in closing, the top two candidates of my list of suspicions stay the same. Of course there are still the low-profile players who might seem worthy to take a closer look at, but currently they are overshadowed by RC and Johoo.

I think thats a dangerous meta for multiple reasons
1. Provable?
2. Detectable?
3. You can't case study how others play, and nobody will let you see their stack of notes in a game you both are in EXCEPT scum(buddies)
4. I doubt many scum play that way.

Good posting, except for number 4, which is just WIFOMy, yet makes the point in its own way, as Johoohno's entire assumption is WIFOMy. As a followup to his "lynch list", I would give this a D-

What was the purpose of your list Johoono? Were you hoping to inspire other such lists? It would be most convenient for scum to know which players are near the top of most players lists. Easier to know which townie you can get a lynch on isn't it?

To everything pointed at me... I present my suspicion of Earwig.

For some reason, I can't latch on to this whole Earwig/Tamuz/Ecto/Johoohno situation. To me, it looks like a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing, but it seems like at least Tamuz and Earwig feel really strongly about... whatever it is that they feel really strongly about. Could someone outside of one of these four summarize the situation for me and give me your perspective?

I was not really speculating about the structure of the game in my attack against Johoo. I took Johoo's speculation about the game and his comment about people below the radar, and I thought I could already put one and one together from there.

I get what you're saying. It still sounds like a stretch to me, for the moment. I've got it down in my notes, though.

The more I read over Tamuz's posts, the less I like them. Throughout the entire game, his sole contribution has been a single, illogical post.

Yep, that's more or less how I felt, too, but Earwig seems to feel really strongly about Tamuz despite this. And I have to admit that I don't much care for a number of Tamuz's posts. His 193, for instance, really rubs me the wrong way.

What with your callous disregard for who gets lynched, combined with your earlier comment about serial killers, you'd be my main suspect for being the serial killer.

While your reasoning is basically sound, again (like Nyktorion), I caution you on stretching this point so far. Lots and lots of players get impatient for night. It doesn't mean that they have night roles. Nights are important to everyone in a MS game because they tend to give all the players a lot of information. My last game, three different people were calling for a deadline to begin night, and all three were vanilla townies just bored and eager for the next phase of the game. Your other reasons for voting for Johoohno are fine, but I wouldn't put too much stock in this one until we have evidence of a SK or multiple scum groups.
