I'm not thenextepisode's biggest fan. He doesn't make much sense, he doesn't explain himself very well, and his refusal to properly capitalize in his posts is very, very irritating. (I could use more verys but I think I made the point.) Nevertheless, I'm not sure why this bandwagon on him has built up so quickly.

The first vote on thenextepisode comes from ectomancer. His post makes a lot of sense. thenextepisodes post is poorly written and telling people that he will pull off his vote if anyone else votes for RC seems a bit strange.

The votes after seem to come because he claims he didn't read a post that was very similar to one that he made later. The two posts are similar, but it would not be terribly strange for both of them to have been made separately from each other. Also, thenextepisode's posts, both before that point and after, all strike me as being highly confused. His claim that he doesn't read very thoroughly or pay much attention seems very consistent with the muddled nature of his posts.

A couple of people, especially SlySly and earwig, seem to be focusing very specifically on the idea that thenextepisode is lying when he seems to just be very confused and not terribly good at the game. Disregarding my personal distaste for the Lynch-All-Liars strategy, all of his statements can be just as easily attributed to incompetence as to a lie. Taking his poorly worded posts to mean what you want and then proving that the thing you've taken them to mean isn't true doesn't actually prove that he was lying even if he meant what you think he meant. The very most you are proving is that his posts are inaccurate, which given how confusing they are, seems just as easily attributed to poor reading/comprehension as to any attempt to deceive anyone.

It is possible that this desire to pick a quick lynch candidate has come from the fact that a permanent deadline has now been instated. I would like to remind everyone that, while the deadline exists, it is still a long ways off, and we have a while to carefully consider who we would like to lynch and do not need to rush into anything.

A curious situation indeed RotN. My suspicious mind says that, if TNE is scum as my vote merits, a scum buddy is just as likely to join the wagon as not. Distancing is a small part of the reason, but there are 2 others. As a wagon builds, a scumbuddy hopping off can lead a trail of lemmings to do the same, effectively killing the wagon on his buddy. In addition, town is traditionally squeamish about lynches that build like this, oftentimes causing even the original voter to drop off from the bad vibes.
I'm staying on. My reasons were good and I'm not going to be scared off before I'm either reassured or better evidence arrives to merit my vote on someone else.

I'm still speculating about a possible setup (perhaps that is unwise(?), but I've only been in games with an open setup and am under the impression that thoughts and information is helpful) and some actions in this game so far are leading me to think that we might have a jester in the crew.

What do you think? Is it possible that we have a jester or am I only seeing things (I was jester in a game that just ended - see my signature - and it might have affected my beliefs)?

I've yet to play in a game with one, also there seems to be a distaste for the role in a significant segment of the population here that makes its use uncommon. (in my experience) If you believe there to be one, you must have a specific player in mind. As a posting restriction is reputed to accompany a Jester role, why don't you try testing that theory by pressing them until you are satisfied that they most likely do not have a post restriction, and as a corollary are also probably not a Jester?

Well, in the jester game I played there wasn't any post restrictions on the Jester. I do have a player in mind but will not reveal who until more people comment on the jester thought. If no comments come I'll let it rest, since that then might be an indication that I am imagining things.

On thenextepisode-issue, I will not for him as of now. I see his actions as being legitimate newbie moves. As of now I can't see his alignment due to the newbness and need to see more of him.

I disagree with the notion that all of TNE's lying can be attributed to just poor wording and confusion. "L-2", "L-1" and "after reading 229, i went straight to reply" are rather unambiguous terms in my book. For me, it's currently looking like TNE did borrow from SlySly in his #242. While this is not really that bad on its own, the way he tries to cover this up in #247 (instead of just acknowledging a connection between #242 and #230) is seriously irritating me.

Well, it's just *mostly* mountainous, so there are still a lot of possible setups, I guess. However, I think that speculating too much about that right now is more about trying to outguess the mod than about actually generating useful information.

But normally, you're as persistent as a tick (and yes, quite aggressive) when you feel like you have a valid target. And you're usually very good about stating your reasoning behind that target. What you're not, usually, is blatantly insulting or given to

attacks. But in this game, not only are you being insulting, not only are you resorting to ad hominem attacks, but you're also not your persistent or logical self (see post 255). So yeah, you're off your normal track all right.

I agree with Ecto here. This whole post is damned creepy, this line creepiest of all. Did you really mean to post something so frightfully stupid, or...? It was posted at 2:47am and you have no location associated with your profile. Where are you? Were you maybe not getting enough sleep? Your postings are quite literally around the clock. But I don't like the wagon that formed around you, either.

Hate it or not, some scum can't help from exposing themselves, even early, with persistent defenses of each other.

Someone always trots out this old chestnut. Maybe I'm just badly inexperienced at this game -- I don't think I am, but I suppose it's possible -- but I can't remember even a single game I've been in that scum went out of their way to defend each other. If anything, exactly the opposite: scum reserve their nastiest attacks for each other a lot of the time. Most of the time though, in my experience, scum just try to ignore each other. Can someone give me an example game to read where scum were exposed and lynched because they were defending each other? I'd love to read this highly theoretical situation in real life.

My vote is on Rosso for four reasons:
# His lashing out at people, including some decidedly non-PC language, feels forced to me, like he's trying to provoke people and get a wagon to form, and...
# linked to this, his voting patterns are all over the freakin' place. He's voted for four people in less than two weeks, with little or no justification attached to any of the votes.
# He freely admits that he's not adding content to the game, but doesn't bother to change that trend.
# And finally, I really don't like the fact that he's ignoring questions asked of him.

Yes, this is very unwise. This is the second time I've pointed this out to you in this game (I previously did so in my 148). Speculating about the structure of the game and encouraging others to do so on day one takes time directly away from scum-hunting.

This, however, not so much. I've found this strategy to be invaluable as a scum-hunting tool. It

can

be taken too far, and a liar is not automatically scum, but it's usually quite telling to confront a liar and see how he or she responds. But I like the rest of this post, so I'll let this minor statement slide.
