I think Rishi is overreacting a bit to vollkan's comments, but I'm not sure whether that means anything or not.

Cow, there is no such thing as "overreacting." This is, like, the most crucial rule ever. People who defend themselves vigilantly aren't scummy.

there's a difference between defending yourself vigilantly and seeming to get emotional about it. You can definitely overreact to a comment.

Snaps_the_Pirate wrote:Bookitty : Why do you think voting for Erguntz after he claimed is a scum tell? Don't you think an innocent might also have voted that way? Of all those who voted after his claim, why do you find me the most suspicious?
You're misunderstanding the point of this. I think that not voting for him before his scumclaim, and then suddenly piling on after, is a scumtell. Avoiding taking any position on a serious wagon either for or against, and then voting immediately after such a claim, seems pretty fishy. Egruntz's scumteam would have been aware that there were two scumteams; Xylthixlm's would not necessarily have been. So anyone on Egruntz's scumteam would have been really reluctant to vote him OR defend him, and would have been anxious both to avoid committing to a position on his lynch, and to be on his wagon once that lynch was inevitable, so as to distance to some extent. I do think an innocent voted that way; Korlash was the doc, and he did so.

On what are you basing the idea that I find you the most suspicious of all those who voted after his claim, precisely, Snaps?
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

It means nothing (unless you have meta evidence)

You can "overreact", sure. (eg. "OMG WHY DID YOU FOS ME!? IT WAS A MISTAKE") but I don't see how that's scummy. Stupid, definitely; but scummy, no.

I thought you had voted for me. Looking back I see you voted for OGML.

Panz, I've been relying on my intuition on you to think you are pro-town despite a bit of controversy about you. I was reading, trying to figure out what Snaps was talking about in regards to you having knowledge of two scum teams day one, but I can't find it. Can YOU find it? I only find where you suggest phate is a serial killer, and your very strange wording on your first few posts. I don't like those wording clumps. Explain?

Currently I'm leaning towards you as scum. I really want to see what Skruffs has proposed in the post above (658) and see what you're talking about in regards to two teams on day one.

This is the post where Panz suggested we might have two scum groups on day one. It is post # 369. He doesn’t come right out and say he knows there are two scum groups, but he seems to be the only one who considered the possibility. He claims it was blind speculation and gives a “gut feeling” type of explanation in post 646:
he wrote:was in response to Antithesis' post 365 where he speculates about number of scum. I don't out and out say their are 2 scum groups of 3 i say there is another option(being one group of 4-5[didn't add 5 in the post on accident]) Anyway, this is really just blind speculation based on being in large games and playing mafia for a while. You come to know what to expect.

Welcome back Liamcool, and thank you for contributing. Now that we know who you suspect (me), it would be great to know why.

Is this an excuse?

Please respond to what has been said. I replaced in too, and I've managed to pull my weight in analyses. Not having played is not an excuse. It just means you need to try and make an extra effort.
I think it's bad policy to criticize people for replacing in and expecting them to do MORE work. I read the first 20 pages and have been participating. Why would anyone want to replace into a game if they're going to get crap like this?

This makes me want to participate LESS, not MORE.
So you expect to just be given a free pass because you're a replacement?

I did not ask for a free pass. I asked to be held to the same standard as everyone else. Then, vollkan explained what he said and I conceded that he had a fair point.

Did you even read any of the rest of the thread? And why is this vote coming four days after my post?

Yes, I know I still have outstanding questions to get to.

Bookitty - I just thought it was rather convenient that you expressed that you would be willing to lynch Snaps after everyone else started saying they were suspicious. What you had said about Snaps previously:
Bookitty wrote:I'm suspicious of Snaps and OGML for another reason, though; the three people who voted egruntz AFTER he admitted to being scum were Korlash, Snaps, and OGML. I do NOT think scum would bus their teammate, knowing there were two scumgroups. But once he admitted it? Why not take the townie points for being in on the lynch?
A somewhat weak argument, IMHO. Also, this seems to be a far cry from being willing to lynch someone.

Snaps -- My suspicions at the moment? Well, I am working under the assumption that there are five scum remaining. A lot of people have speculated that there are two scum groups of three and we know there is a third group with a kill. Perhaps a vigilante, but, until we know that, I'm going to say serial killer.

So, there may be fewer than five scum, but I would highly doubt there's more of that. My predictions: Snaps (the lurker hunting is not helpful and once people started applying pressure, you started backing off), Bookitty (see above), OGML (No, this is not OMGUS, but it seems odd his vote for me would come four days after the post - is he not paying attention or is he scum?), liamcool (Comes out of lurking to state the obvious) and Phate (gut feeling here, though I've been wrong about him before).

People I solidly think are town: Antithesis (I believe his claim), Skruffs (Despite the fact that he has a vote on me, he seems solidly interested in scumhunting and makes good points) and hasdgfas (My previous experience with hasdgfas was as his mod and he seems off in this game. Since I've modded him as scum, I'll assume the odd play is the way he acts as town).

Anything else I need to respond to?

Rishi, out of curiosity, do you think it's likely I'd more likely be scum with egruntz's group or with Xylthixlm's?

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "solidly interested in scumhunting"?

Also, I don't see the logic in your read of hasd. So he is playing differently here to when he was scum? I don't think that necessarily has any bearing upon his alignment.

For the record, I would have voted on Egruntz after he claimed (actually I was about to vote on him regardless) but he claimed and was lynched before I logged back on to the site again.

Personally, I don't thnk scum have any more reason than townies to lynch other scum. It just came down to who showed up online first. (In that regard, scum may be faster if they use Instant messengers or get notified via email if they have a PM).
