And you guys do realize the submitted roles had to be suitable for both town and scum, right? As in SCUM CAN CLAIM THEIR REAL ROLE, THIS LIST DOES NOTHING. Except give scum some choice options for fake-claiming if their role is an unlikely town role.

So what were the other purposes exactly? Free fluff posts for you and all your friends? Good job guys, your plan is working admirably.

yes they can claim their own role, but the probability of them actually is low. A counter claim could easily catch scum fake claiming. example:

Scum A: Ohhh no I'm at l-1, claim: "water balloon" (I did not submit this role, its just an example)
town: Hay, I got role: Water balloon. Lynch the scum!

I dont see the point of mas claiming but I find it interested that their is only 1 submited vanilla townie type role. Will there be any vanilla townies in this?

P.P.S.- IS has only posted once but I know that he has an aggressive style of posting. From a meta standpoint, he shouldn't be considered scum for that style of play.

1. Fool/Jester- Someone who must be lynched to win.

2. Hidden Traitor- Player is given a neutral role such as vanilla townie/mafia or standard SK but not told they are in fact aligned with a different faction.

3. Restriction Giver- Every person he votes for gets a post restriction.

(Assuming that 2 is not acceptable)

4. Medium- Can revive one person to speak during the town meeting but not vote. Can't choose the same person more then once and the person can only speak for one day phase and while the medium is alive.

This fake massclaim nonsense is useless. The scum aren't going to be honest anyways and you have no way to verify their claims. All you're doing is taking the game away from scumhunters and making this to be a spreadsheet exercise. I'm here to catch scum, not play some bastardized version of Clue.

All this does is take all the attention away from the scum and puts it on the god damn list. This is the equivalent of those assholes at the mall that harass you to fill out some bullshit survey. Scum can claim their own role as in they don't have to fakeclaim, they can claim the role sent to them in their PM because one of the rules of role creation/acceptance is that scum or town could reasonably have the role. So them claiming a role and power doesn't mean they are scum, if they got given the role water balloon they could claim town water balloon even if they are scum water balloon and who would know the difference? The worst that could possibly happen is that they might have to make a fakelist of who they used their power on.

One of the nice things about this game is we can lynch who we think is scummy despite their power role claim. If you're scummy enough to reach L-1 then chances are you're scummy enough to hammer, the fact that you're a Role Copier, a White Mage or a Porn Star is neither here nor there.

I'm not sure I'm interpreting this correctly. The signup thread warns that you are not guaranteed to have any of your submitted roles in the game, which implies that it's possible for somebody to have more than one of their submitted roles in play.

No, what I believe that the mod means is that Officer Rex Mannington is not in the game. Any other role could be though.

The post of mine you just quoted, and even then, I don't think it should be seriously considered right now.

If there are multiple scumteams and one of them has a standard cop role, they can use that to get rid of opposing scum since they can get guilty results. The likelihood of other forms of cop aren't affected by the number of scumteams, though.

Not immediately. I feel that as part of designer different roles can be tweaked and modified and combined/removed at the whim of the mod for balance.

Xalxe is doing what I think is one of the biggest early game tells: seeming helpful without really doing much to catch scum. While I appreciate keeping track of who said what, a rolling total that gets posted every page like a vote count makes it seem like the claim is all we're doing right now. If that's all we're doing, I hate to say it, but IS is right: it bogs us down and wastes days. That was never my hope with a claim. It should be secondary and a side note.

Anyway, returning to the Xalxe vote. He's being active and "helpful" but not in a way designed to catch scum. For this reason, he is my primary suspect.
