Wouldyounom a scum player who played well, but lost, for the Don Corleone? I don't even recall seeing anyone nominated for that award who was part of a losing team, much less win it. Honestly, when it comes down to picking a good scum who won versus a good scum who lost, you're going to go for the one who won every time, and rightfully so.
The Losing Cause award is in another class entirely. No, Magna shouldn't be nommed for the DC because he lost, buthis play does deserve recognition because his playalmostearned him a win. It's not sacrilegious to have both awards, one for recognizing a good scum who won, and another to recognize a good scum who lost.ALMOST ALWAYS BUSY 9-6 CST WEEKDAYS-

Don Corleone is a body of work award.SaintKerrigan wrote:Wouldyounom a scum player who played well, but lost, for the Don Corleone?
I don't think winning is a prequisite for being nominated for any awards.
I would have hoped that the best scum player would win. I can't agree with you at all on "rightfully so".I don't even recall seeing anyone nominated for that award who was part of a losing team, much less win it. Honestly, when it comes down to picking a good scum who won versus a good scum who lost, you're going to go for the one who won every time, and rightfully so.
Its not "sacrilegious" but it most certainly is "stupid" and considering there isn't an award for "best performance for a single game by a single Mafiaso" then I'd also add a "a sympton of completely misguided priorities".The Losing Cause award is in another class entirely. No, Magna shouldn't be nommed for the DC because he lost, buthis play does deserve recognition because his playalmostearned him a win. oh i want that award so baddddddMagnaofIllusion wrote:
Any player can play an absolutely brilliant game but still lose. And any player can play a craptastic game and win. Chesskid in Liten is an example of the later. To use an analogy Micheal Jordan played for subpar Chicago Bulls teams for several years until he got a good supporting cast (and I am not comparing myself to him … this is just an example). Because his teams didn’t win in the play-offs does not mean he played poorly.Empking wrote:Magna's play wasn't good enough because he lost. His play was poor because you want him to give him Best Performance in a Losing Cause (and re-introduce the award for him) rather than giving him a good scum award.
If his early play was better than you wouldn't be nominating him for Losing Cause. Therefore he's getting nominated for the award based on his early play being poor. Theregore its an award for poor play.
If your objection is the reintroduction of the award that is one argument. But trying to say that in a team game by eventually losing it means you must have played poorly is just stupid.Call me Tajo.

No I'm not.Mr. Flay wrote:Empking, you're conflating "good play" with "good enough play to win". Not the same thing.
Kerrigan, you're arguing with Empking. That was your first mistake.
If its not deserving of an award if he plays (a bit) better but it is if he plays at that level then its a reward for poor play. (especially if we break it up into tiny chunks and call his mistakes "poor play")Plus, if you guys want to make a point, skip the walls, because everyone else in the game does as well. - Magister Ludi-

Totally disagee - If you are 'giving up' you are not playing towards your wincon and you should not be playing games if you just give up when things look badgandalf5166 wrote:The point is that a lot of people might have given up. I think "giving up" is just stating it too strongly - I can easily imagine a player not quite believing in the possibility of a positive outcome not playing his best game without a conscious decision on his part.tanstalas wrote:

Just because you started at 'rock bottom zero', and improved to 'kinda normal', doesn't get you a Scummy award.Show"Take me to Pleasure Town!" "Look, the most Glorious Rainbow Ever!" "Do me on it!" -

Did you actually read the nom? He was a vig, and vigged ALL THREE SCUM ALL THE FIRST THREE NIGHTS. HE WOULD HAVE SINGLEHANDEDLY WON THE GAME IF HE HADNT CLAIMED D3ReaperCharlie wrote:I disagree with the andrew94 nomination.

IN ONE GAME. I've played enough games with him as bad that he had to hit a good one sooner or later. I still haven't seen a reason for him to get this nom.gandalf5166 wrote:

For my first 2011 Nominations I would like to Nominate the following (all springboarding out of the recently ended Blackest Night Mafia )-
AndriusforMost Improved Player- He's come a long way from when I first played with him.
Read his play in the Abandoned Prison Mafia.
Then read his play in Blackest Night Mafia.
It would not be a stretch to think those games were two completly different players. In Blackest Night he effectively used his role to detect multiple scum and despite pretty much claiming PR Day 1 he survived to the endgame. I think he's becoming a vastly underrated player.
xRECKONERxforBest Mafia Catcher- in that game Day 1 he correctly identified the one complete scum-team (and helped drive the lynch on their Godfather role).
The Town of Blackest Night MafiaforBest Performance Pro Town Team- Successfully lynched scum players for five straight Days (Days 1 to 5) and vigged two more scum players. The Town completely destroyed the known original 9 scum roles by the Dawn of Day 6 and lost a 5 player endgame due to a Cult that was unknown at game's start."I am a leaf on the wind ... watch how I soar!"
Pretty much Geriatric game restricted at this point ... unless there are players I REALLY want to play with.-
