Mini 205 - Game Over

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu Jun 30, 2005 7:22 am

Post by SpeedyKQ »

The people of your scenic Sicilian coastal town have lived peacefully for centuries. But lately gruesome murders have been happening at night, and somebody has to be held responsible. The townspeople will lynch one person per day until the evil is wiped out.

Players Alive (6):
rolandofthewhite (replacing Assasin)
Enigma91
inHimshallibe (replacing HotSauce)
Save The Dragons
JereIC (replacing Sinatra)
Thok

Players Dead:
tokiyoh, farmer, modkilled day 1
mathcam, freemason, mutilated night 2
Vesuvan (replacing SapphireVerde), freemason, lynched day 2
Mastermind of Sin, freemason, lynched day 3
Sineish (replacing Fletcher), fisherman, lynched day 4
Phoebus (replacing ogre), naive diviner, mutilated night 4

We will start with night. Please confirm when you have recieved your role. You may begin discussions and/or choices immediately.

The Rules:

Please bold your votes and unvotes. If a vote is not bolded it will not be counted.
Please unvote, and say who you are unvoting for. If you do not unvote, your new vote will still count but I will be annoyed.
Inactivity will get you replaced, but not before a warning. If you are going to be away for more than 48 hours please say so in thread.
No posting after you're dead. Also, don't post in twilight if you are about to be lynched - nothing I can do to prevent this, so you're on your honor.
No talking about the game outside of the thread, except as your roles allow.
Players may vote no-lynch. Two consecutive days and nights with no deaths will cause the game to end as a draw between all parties who have at least one player alive.
If conversation slows, I will impose a deadline. This deadline may or may not be retractable, according to my whim.
A full majority will be needed for a lynch, deadline or not. If no majority has been reached when a deadline comes to pass, no lynch will occur.
Players who are eliminated from this game will not be able to rejoin as a replacement. Go find another game where you won't have a conflict of interest.
No small or invisible type.
Don't publicly quote any PM's from me.
Please be respectful to your moderator. Although I'm so lovable, I don't really see how you could not.

Day dawns and to the relief of the town, everyone is still alive. 12 players means 7 votes to lynch.

Assasin will be away until tomorrow.

glad i'm not the last person to show up in the thread =)
and even happier to find that i'm not the first night victim for the 2nd time in a row!

since i'm new to online playing, there are a couple of things i'm wondering.
so rather than starting with a random vote, may i ask some questions? @@a
they might appear to be obvious/dumb but be patient with me please ^^"

okay, here i go..
when there is no kill at night like right now:
1. can mafia choose not to kill? (though i doubt they would do so on night 1)
2. if mafia targeted someone, do they know exactly why they failed?
3. do roleblockers/doctors know if their actions prevented murder? (like does a doctor get "you saved XXX" or no reply so they wonder too if their night choice was what prevented the murder)

..actually i'm a little nervous typing up my first post..
but this is going to be fine :D

1) Yes, and I agree that it would be rare indeed for them not to do so.
2) No, not usually.
3) No, not usually.

And welcome to the site! (If you haven't yet, you might want to try out a newbie game in addition to this game...they're pretty good for getting up to speed on the rule variances that occur in online play).

For future reference, I'm often going to be an exception to this rule. (That is, I congratulate doctors/roleblockers indepedently of whether or not I'm scum.)

This is a weird question, but I'm wondering if there's any chance that we have a cult? That could be another reason for the small number of nightkills.

Haven't we just started? No wonder there is a small # of nightkills

How would a cult make a difference? What does a cult's role do?

HotSauce, I think we'd all appreciate it if you could try to coalesce independent thoughts into one post, instead of posting three consecutive posts within a span of 8 minutes. Thanks.

I think Thok's suggestion is that the presence of a cult might mean that instead of a nightkill, we have people being
recruited
into the cult. This is, unfortunately,
worse
than a night-kill, since instead of losing a player from our side, we lose a player and scum
gains
a player. On the bright side, the sheer power of that combination means it doesn't show up all that frequently in mini games.

Okay, since my first vote was just designed to get a reaction, I'm going to
Unvote: Thok
and turn to the question of whether tokiyoh's "newbie" questions were genuine or feigned ignorance. Hmm.

first of all, thanks for answering all of my questions

i actually went and re-read all the role descriptions on the website.
as for the cult question, i'm hoping it doesn't exist in this game.
since we had only 12 to start with, 1 player would be a great loss already.

as for my earlier post, i was originally going to direct them to the mod.
but then on second thought, id better say whatever thats on my mind here.
so i won't be saying "the mod said... (blah blah)" if need be ^^"

still not voting though.

* * *

so far, has everybody showed up?

Assasin was away, so that only leaves Mastermind of Sin to post?

Ok, I'm back. Right now the possibilty of a cult in this size game seems small but as always is a possibillity.
For the moment I will
vote MoS
for being the only one without a post.
I will eventually kill you all.

Why? :?:
It clutters the thread, and some people just don't like that.
