About a month or so back you had auditions for a new reality show called
La Isla de la Muerte. You didn't really know what the title meant—you just thought it had a nice-sounding Spanish name, and you're a sucker for tropical islands.
Survivor, to you, got real old real fast, and you thought this show would bring a little something special to the table.
And now here you are, along with seventeen other beach bum wannabes. You don't actually look the most photogenic on TV, but it's a nice break from the daily grind. Warm and sunny all the time you're here, the chance to swim in the ocean—something you've never done all your life—and most importantly, much-needed time off the grid, what with all your senseless "friends" on Facebook.
A tall man in sunglasses and a sun hat but otherwise typical business attire, apparently the host, approaches you, smoking a cigar.
"Welcome to

," he says in a throaty voice. "The island of death."

The host continues speaking.
"Do you see that over there?" he asks, pointing to a rotting corpse in the distance. "Some of you did that. Some of you jerks took an innocent life."
Now you're looking at each other with suspicion. You have an early talk, but you've really got nothing. After the hosts lets you chatter for about fifteen seconds, he gets your attention again.
"And, more importantly, I know which of you are those jerks."
"So what do we do?" you ask, pissed off. "Are we supposed to just stand around here while we all lose our heads!?"
"No," the host responds. "You catch who killed the man... or you die trying."
"This is one crazy-ass hell of a show," you mumble to yourself. "But we all signed the contract. If that's what it takes to live, I might as well."
The host disappears. You wonder whether he's in hiding, since he didn't look the most well-intentioned of people. But you have more important things to deal with, so you're getting right to it.
