Another Mafia Game Needlessly Ruined: Please Read.

I work my ass off for three+ months for this to happen.

See: One Metatron. The Godfather. 2 days away from deadline, he has the majority of the votes, two of them by his own scummates who have successfully bussed him to save the team. Unable to take the fact that he had been had, he outs himself, outs his scummates, and singlehandedly kills my game, in a way that seems like he thinks himself witty.

This situation has become incredibly common over the past few months, and while I felt bad for those who's games were ruined, I never had thought it would happen to my game. I trusted all of my players, but I guess you never really know anyone.

I had worked hard at this game. I had several early replacements. Half the game was replacements at this point. A day one crash almost killed the game before it could even start, but everything was finally getting a move on.

This is a warning, it can happen to ANYONE. Don't every put it past anyone to ruin your game. I did, and look what happened.

I propose a generic "List of people who have ruined games" thread. If someone ruins a game, their name is put on the list, and

, mods can see, at a glance, who not to let into games.

It's like being banned, but more in-your-face!

Something needs to be established as a long-term solution for these incidents, because in recent months it's simply gone too far. The facts must be faced: Mafia, as an incomplete information game, is very easy for a single player to destroy. I personally think that a zero-tolerance policy is the best option here.

Also, HurriKaty, I give you my condolences and think that you should be bumped back to the top of the waiting list for modding if you want to do so again.

Agreed, GL. People who do stuff like that need to be banned. There's absolutly no reason to ever let Metatron play another mafia game at this site after that happened, it's just not worth the risk to the other 11 people he's be playing with.

The way this behaviour seems to be growing more and more common lately disturbs me greatly. Also, I believe this game should still count toward's Katy's modding experience. She appears to have done a good job at finding replacements and generally keeping the game alive and it would be mean to have her host another game before being able to host a Mini Theme.

Metatron should probably be banned.

Unfortuantly, this is an inevitable side effect of the site becoming more popular, I think there is only one way of combating this, which is permaban, I really hope we don't get many idiots who ruin the games just for the hell of it and don't care about getting banned.

Quoting Mod PMs is serious business. The fact that people don't even seem surprised about it anymore, that people somehow view it as acceptable to act like a sore loser and post your role PM in the thread (or other things) is ridiculous.

What Meta did - unless I missed him quoting a mod PM - was a steel-balls gambit, similar to one that Vesuvan did in Star Wars Mafia on Tings. A godfather, going down, "blows his cool" and "outs his partners". If you hadn't made it clear he was telling the truth, the town would not have know if he was simply fingering people

who were not actually his scum partners

I think Hurrikaty should be allowed to mod mini theme games now. She didn't even want to do a normal in the first place, so making her do another normal before she can get to theme seems rather punitive.

As for Metatron, there's nothing we can really do about terminal stupidity except point it out and sigh. I'd much prefer permabans than blacklists, though. If we have a blacklist, it'd be a short time before we start coming up with excuses to put people we dislike as a community on it. Just ban the people who seriously fuck up.

As GF with two goons, I was about to by lynched, and lashed out "angrily", fingering one real goon (my vanilla mafioso) and one townie. The town proceeded to lynch both, and the third goon (a daykiller) blasted his way to the end game.

He didn't fake breaking a rule. He didn't post a PM or post anything he claimed to be a PM. He just said "I'm the godfather and my partners are X, Y, Z". The town would have eventually figured out that you can't trust a dead mafioso's claim and dismissed it as WIFOM (if Tar hadn't supported it, of course).
