*Cue Mafia TV theme song*
Townies do it in the day
Mafia do it in a group
Cops do it at night
Serial Killers do it alone
Vigilantes don't do it enough
Masons do it together

MafiaTV does it 24/7!
*End Mafia TV theme song*

Midas Welbee: Welcome to MafiaTV, the TV show where you are guilty until proven innocent. My name is Midas Welbee and I'm here with Gladys Saterday. Today we have a special treat for you. But first, a Julie Chen Cliffhanger.

Gladys Saterday: Thank you for that wonderful introduction Midas. Today we are headed to the bright city of Philadelphia. The city with the highest number of homicides per year! With a homicide rate that high, it sounds like the perfect place for a mafia to try to start its influence, as any kills can be attributed to the general attitude of the population. And in fact, one has started with a grand total of two people out of a small group of seven. Ready to introduce those seven people is our field reporter, Isabel Mettal.

Isabel Mettal: Thanks Gladys. On the left of your screen are 5 newbies, ones who haven't played too many games of mafia before. Please welcome Thorgjorn, SoftIce, TGC, Major and... John Cataldo!
*cheering from an unseen studio audience*
And now for the Inexperienced Challenged players. First, a man who likes replacing more than starting, give it up for Tarhalindur!
*more cheering from an unseen studio audience*
And finally, Mr. Prophecy Mafia himself, I predict that it is JDodge!
*a chant of "Team Asshat" starts in the background*

Midas: And now that we know the players, we know the setting, all that's left is to explain the rules for the viewers back home.
*starts prerecorded tape*

The Rules
:
(Stolen from Meme and changed a bit.)
  • Votes must be in
    bold
. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
  • Please be attentive and
    unvote
, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not
    required
    , but I’d appreciate it.
  • Lynches will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. You may
    vote: no lynch
    – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.
  • Die!
    Er...
When you die, stop talking. Dead people don't talk (except in horror movies, but that's a whole 'nother story)
  • Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts. Else I will edit/delete you.
  • Don’t quote any PMs from me.
  • If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, tough! No choice will be made.

We are using a Pie E7 setup for this game.

One player received the following role PM:
Mafia Roleblocker
Philadelphia is known for its tourism due to the fact that a lot of famous stuff happened here. The signing of the Declaration of Independence, a lot of Ben Franklin stuff and the Third Battle of mith's attempted minion uprising all took place in Philadelphia. All this tourism could take days to go through, so you should be able to keep someone busy for a night, right?

You are a Mafia Roleblocker. You are a part of this game's mafia, along with
WHO COULD IT BE?
. Each night, you and the other member of the mafia choose another person to kill. This person, assuming that they aren't protected by the doctor, will die. As long as you are alive, you can also choose another person to roleblock. That person can't use their role for that night. You win when all the town members are dead.

One player received the following role PM:
Mafia Goon
Philadelphia is one of the easiest places to buy a gun in. Just walk up to the counter, say that you want a gun, show the money for it, and the gun is yours. So when you decided to start a mafia, you decided nto to just get one gun each, but 12. That would be great if you could kill more than one person per night.

You are a Mafia Goon. You are a member of this game's mafia, along with
SOMEBODY YOU KNOW...
. Each night, you and the other member of the mafia choose another person to kill. This person, assuming that they aren't protected by the doctor, will die. You win when all the town members are dead.

One player received the following PM:
Cop
You are a cop in the Philadelphia Police Department. After getting some much needed relief from the state troopers, you can use some of the spare time you're getting to look up someone's background to see if they would be likely to start a mafia group.

You are a Cop. Every night you may choose to investigate a person. Assuming that you aren't roleblocked, you will receive a result of mafia or town. This result is guaranteed to be correct. You win when all members of the mafia are dead.

One player received the following PM:
Doctor
You are a doctor working for some hospital in Philadelphia that I don't feel like researching. Due to the recent shootings, you decided to do some studying in removing bullets and nursing those people back to health. Your efforts are helping to reduce the number of fatal shootings in Philadelphia. Don't you feel special.

You are a Doctor. Every night you may choose to protect a person. Assuming that you aren't roleblocked, you will protect your target from all nightkills. You may not protect yourself. You win when all members of the mafia are dead.

Three players received the following PM:
Townie
You are just a resident of Philadelphia. You don't mind living here amongst the shootings because it's basically natural selection.

You are a Townie. You have no special abilities during the night. You win when all members of the mafia are dead.

*end prerecorded tape*

Midas: Now that everyone's up to speed, we should be ready to begin, as soon as everyone downstairs is ready.

It is now the confirmation stage. Please confirm by return PM as soon as possible. Please make sure to state which game you're confirming in as I'm starting off two different newbie games right now.

Midas: And that was a fast confirmation, one of the fastest I've seen in ages.

Gladys: This is our first episode.

Midas: Ah, yes. And I've just been informed that there are a couple of viewers who've been sent here because the africa tribal version of MafiaTV just finished. Let's see the clips from that game.

*starts tape*

*scene of three african tribal guys sitting around a table with a guy in a suit standing behind them.*

African Tribal Guy 1: *points at ATG2* Ogu bogu!

African Tribal Guy 2: Bogu?

ATG1: Bogu!

African Tribal Guy 3: Bogu!

Announcer: Ogu bogbogo. Bogu Bogoggo!

ATG1: Bogu? Bogu!

ATG3: Bogu! *stabs ATG1 in the chest.*

*end tape*

Gladys: Wow, what an exciting mafia victory. Wish I could understand what they were saying though...

It's Day 1! With 7 alive, it's 4 to lynch!

And let me be the first to say welcome to any and all players who are playing Forum mafia for their first time!

Hello, scummers!

I may find multiple T-names confusing, as well. So
vote: Thorbjorn
You should also get an avatar, because I like pictures. :)

(But I don't find J-Dodge confusing at all, since I can tell it's not my name quite easily. So obviously you don't need to vote for
me
for that reason.)

Yes, except JDodge and TGC who have yet to show their faces...

Meh, can't disprove that crazed logic.

Vote Major

For complaining with sarcasm at the pace this game is going, which seemed to me like eagerness to get the day over with, and put someone in the noose, fast.

It just seemed
too eager
if ya know what I mean.

Anyways, happy holidays, blah blah blah, theories on who's scum, blah, blah, blah.

What is this all about? You are an IC, so obviously you're accustomed to the game. Maybe you're just trying to stir up extra water by voting without any explanation. Whatever it be, it seems suspect to me.

Well, I've only made two posts, so I guess it should be easy to narrow down my evilness. I guess posting twice makes me a frequent poster and therefor more likely suspicious for SOME reason.

But I'll return the favor

So, you're asking for the thoughts of others without giving your own thoughts? Classic, classic scum play, especially so early in the game.

Nothing was happening. I wanted to post to try to stir the game up. So I did something. As it was New Year's, I decided on unvoting for the reason stated at the time, though my "ulterior" motive was just to
post
because I like to post and I like the game to have some meat, and rather than just complain that everyone is silent I just keep babbling. I'm not claiming it's an inherently townie way to behave, but it's a
not boring
way to behave, I hope, which is far more important to me!

Unvoting seemed as good of an action as anything else to make the game move, though even then it was slow to come about, but it did work! :)

So I appreciate your vote and many questions without any answers, since it
did
get something going.

Since you haven't done anything but ask questions though you said "More later.", which I took to mean an explanation, not just questions:

JDodge
, why did you vote for me?
