Condensed Rules

1.)
Be civil.
2.)
No talking outside the game about this game, unless your role PM allows otherwise.
3.)
No editing or deleting your own posts or another's posts.
4.)
No mod-quoting. Only paraphrase in your own words.
5.)
A lynch (or a No Lynch) takes a majority of votes. In the event of a deadline, a majority of a majority will do. (In other words, if 7 players are alive, it takes 4 votes to lynch normally, and 3 votes with a deadline). If there is a tie, first come, first served.
6.)
To vote, post a bolded
Vote: PJ
. To unvote, post a bolded
Unvote: PJ
. If you are switching votes, an unvote is not necessary, but appreciated.
7.)
If you have a request, please use a bolded
Mod: So-and-So
.
8.)
If you're dead, do not post.
9.)
If you notice there has been a lynch, stop posting.

Special Rules: Please, Please Read

10.)
Above all,
Respect the No-Reveal aspect of this game
. If you do not, I will not only modkill you, but I will find a way to further harm your faction.
11.)
If your role has a Sheet of Paper, read this. During the night, send me (the mod) a PM a message of 50 characters or less (not including spaces). Any characters past 50 will be deleted. Also inform me which Time Capsule you wish to place your Sheet of Paper in. On the appropriate day, your message will be revealed to the town, exactly as it is written. You clearly may not quote the mod in these messages.
12.)
There may or may not be other items which can be placed in the capsules. Unless otherwise specified, they work like sheets of paper: specify at night what item goes in what capsule.

13.
Clarifications:
  • Every Day is a "Year". Day One is January 1, 2001. Day Two is January 1, 2002. And so forth.
  • Therefore, if a sheet of paper (or other item) is placed in the January 1, 2006 capsule, the paper will be revealed on Day Six, assuming nothing interferes with that paper (or item).
  • By "No Reveal", I mean I will not reveal alignments or roles upon death.
    You are more than free to
    claim
    your roles or alignments.
    Exceptions which will result in much unpleasantness are: (1) quoting your role PM, (2) fake quoting a role PM, (3) talking to a player in the game when you are not supposed to talk to them, (4) talking to a player after you are dead, (5) posting a "Bah, Go Town!" or similar post after you have been lynched or have otherwise died. Just use common sense, as this is
    not
    an exhaustive list. I sincerely hope this will not be a problem.
  • Yes, it may be possible for some players to increase the number of sheets of paper (or other items) they have in their possession. If this happens, I will inform the players in question that this has occurred.
Sample Role PM:
Townie Role PM wrote:You are a
Townie
. You are perfectly fine splitting up the treasure with others – and in fact, you sometimes wish you had never
been
on that stupid hike to begin with: at least then you wouldn't have been caught up in all of this.

You currently have 0 [Zero] sheets of paper. Read the game rules to learn how to use sheets of paper.

You win when the Town has rid itself of all anti-town factions. Please confirm your role by paraphrasing it to me by PM. If you have any questions, do not be shy to ask. Good luck, and have fun!

July 16, 1998.

In a petite clearing alongside a trail found in the Oleum Woods, it was observed that the a corner of a metallic object was protruding from the ground. The group of friends – who were taking an afternoon hike – literally stumbled across it.

After a quick excavation, they unearthed a curious contraption. It was a mechanized metallic box, and attached to the outside were ten metal capsules. They each had tiny twist-lids on the top, a number etched into the side, and a flashing red light. They read "01/01/2001", "01/01/2002", "01/01/2003", and so on up to "01/01/2010". The friends all smiled at each other and made a point to come back to this spot on New Years Day, 2001.

~~~~~
January 1, 2001
Reunion! Still dazzled from the fireworks show, the friends take a midnight hike back through the trail in the Oleum Woods. Although the spot had some overgrowth, finding the box again is not a problem.
The capsule which reads "01/01/2001" no longer had a red flashing light. Instead, it has a steady green light. First one of you twists the cap off; it comes off easily, but the innards of the capsule remain unseen. The lid is replaced, there is a sucking sound, and it closes again. It is soon determined through an experiment with several pebbles that the capsule can have items put into it, but they cannot be taken out again by simply twisting off the cap.
Finally, somebody has the sense to push the green light, and the capsule falls apart off the side of the box as if it were made of popsicle sticks and silly string. To the ground also drop the experimental pebbles, a key, a large wad of money, and a folded piece of paper.
The paper reads as follows:
Note Found within the 01/01/2001 Capsule wrote:Congratulations unto you, the discoverer(s) of this most worthy Time Capsule! It is my privilege to present to you a treasure the likes of which will allow you (and perhaps a few friends) to live a luxurious life for the rest of your days.
However, before this cache of valuables can be bestowed upon you, you must first wait until the date of January 1, 2010.
You see, I am rather clever physicist, and I have constructed this box to have ten capsules, each of which will only open upon predetermined dates etched upon the side of each capsule. Within each of these capsules is a key. All of these keys are necessary in order to obtain the treasure. My suggestion to you: place the key within this capsule in the capsule marked "01/01/2010" immediately, and be sure to do the same with all eight other keys. This way, no keys are accidentally lost.
To convince you this is not a hoax, there is also $10,000.00 within this first capsule.
Warning: Do not try to forcibly open or remove any capsule on any date other than that etched upon said capsule. To do so will result in the tenth capsule being utterly destroyed, along with its contents. You may, however, feel free to place any item that will fit into any capsule if you are interested to see how it fares over the years. Simply twist a cap, plop it in, and have patience!
I hope to see you again next year!
The twelve of you look at each other... suspiciously. After splitting up the money (with some argument), carefully placing the key in the tenth capsule, and reburying the box (nobody was willing to let one person take it home), you decide to reconvene at this same spot tomorrow, after you've all had some rest and time to think. And so begins the adventure that is bound to ruin many friendships, and end many lives.
The game will begin once all players have confirmed.
I have added a "clarifications" section in the rules posts for things I may have been unclear about. Hopefully they deal with the more common questions.
All players have confirmed -- since I had a couple questions, I decided to wait before officially opening the game so that roles with night-talking abilities would have time to talk with each other.
It is now
Day One
. With
12
players alive, it takes
7
votes to lynch! Deadline August 18, 9:59 pm Central District Time.
Yikes, L-1 already, that's completely nuts, especially in this setup! If we lynch him we won't even discover his alignment!
vote: Ythill
for placing the L-1 vote and
FoS: Clammy and SensFan
for placing the second and third baseless bandwagon votes.
Looks like we might be out of the random voting stage already.
Not lynch -1, iceman, it's 7 votes to lynch in this game. But still, yeah, it's a really odd move.
Rotten Snitch, roffman was not suspicious as his vote was the first. IcemanE for The second random vote of a person isn't scummy in the wagon, IMO, because it happens all the time. All votes after that, though, a little suspicious.
I've only played with Yos before (current game), so this will make looking for inconsistancy harder.
Vote: Ythill
for placing a serious vote on someone, placing them at L-3, when they haven't even posted yet.
No Roff wasn't as suspicious for the first vote but he was part of it and I gave everyone a FoS for it cause it was way too early and way too quick for that wagon to gain speed. Felt fishy is all. So I included everyone.
with 12 players I'd expect a wagon in the random phase just not in the first 5 posts
It seems like there's a history between Clammy and Darox - therefore I'm not overly suspicious of Clammy. Roff's was the first vote, so he's not too suspicious either. It's Sens and Y that come off scummy for 3rd and 4th BW votes so early.
for voting ythill for voting darox.
I don't think we can actually draw anything from the darox votes. . . but one of these days, that sort of cavalier attitude toward wagoning is going to bite a town in the ass.
Marvelous.
unvote
My bandwagoning was meant to accomplish two things: end the random phase and provide information. It's done both.
@ Yos & Batt: Your votes jump to a conclusion. Please explain why my vote L-3 would have been more likely to come from scum.
@ ice: Feel free to answer the above if it applies, and please explain how you managed to be so mistaken about the vote count.
@ Snitch: Please answer what I've posed to Yos & Batt but as regards all of the people you have FoSed. And, out of curiosity, why so much suspicion without a vote?
FTR: I think Yos is far too experienced to vote me when he did if he was scum. Yes, it's WIFOM and therefore somewhat unreliable, but I'm noting it as a towntell.
please explain how you managed to be so mistaken about the vote count.
I just finished a game today (Mini 618) so I was in endgame mode - got confused.
Please explain why my vote L-3 would have been more likely to come from scum.
Me wrote: It's Sens and Y that come off scummy for 3rd and 4th BW votes so early.
Bandwagons are great, on scummy people. Darox hasn't done anything even remotely scummy yet, so the BW is uncalled for. I can see it getting to two or maybe even three, but 4 is crazy, especially 4 straight posts in a row. The ease with which you withdrew your vote comes off a tad suspicious as well - once your vote was questioned, you pulled it. Your claim that you BW voted for info and to end the RV stage seems legitimate though, and you're correct that you accomplished both.
unvote - vote: Snitch
for the FoS fest without a vote.
Well your post answers your question to me. If your bandwagon was the attempt to take us out of random voting then my random vote would have come too late.
I gave FoS because it was suspicious that we had a player for no reason put at L-3 in 5 posts total.
the reasons why that wagon formed:
Roffman wrote:vote darox obv scum for obv reasons
What is obscum about Darrox?
Clammy wrote:vote: darox
Have to stick to tradition eh?
And what tradition are you refering to?
Sensfan wrote:Vote: Darox, for reasons outlined above
And what are those reasons Sens? Tradition or obv scum?
Ythill wrote:Hello Sens and clammy. Feel free to confirm that I do not random vote.
Vote: Darox so that we can lynch scum
If you do not random vote, why vote Darox and say he is scum? What additional knowledge do you have that we the town do not?
What benefit do you have for rushing out of Random Voting Stage?
I think that is a good enough reason to FoS all of you because I cannot vote all four at once.
Again seems as though your attempt to take us out of the random stage is successful so why try to redirect the attention to me for not voting?
Now I will vote
Vote: Ythill
Not random - you seem too rushed to be townie right now. Nice try though.
Does that answer why I gave out four FoS's?
I find it hard to believe that it was 5 to lynch in an endgame scenario.
On another note, I'll ask that no one attempts to make assumptions on whether or not my vote was random. I do not randomly vote at the start of any game I am in.
