The Battle
A 3 HP Rotom initiated a challenge by targeting a 3 HP Charmander w/ Hex at night.
A Private topic is created, and the battlers introduce themselves and their stats & their current HP.

First is the ability check. If any abilities are proc'd or declared, this would be when they get used.

Second is the move check. If any moves are used here, they are declared by the players in their PT.
Charmander will declare Ember, dealing 1 Damage to the Rotom, lowering its HP to 2.
Third is the battle phase. Both players will roll a die for attack. Rotom is on the left so they will be the first die.
Normally all battles will be rolled with dice bbcode, but for the purposes of demonstration I will just declare 2 results.
Rotom rolls a 6 while Charmander rolls a 1
Rotom will attack for 8 due to it's attack modifier.
Charmander will attack for 2.
Then both players will declare Evasion or Defense.
Rotom declares Evasion while Charmander will roll for Defense.
Rotom rolls a 2 and Charmander rolls a 6.
Rotom will evade for 1 due to it's evasion modifier.
Charmander will defend for 6.
Whoever initiated the battle will attack first.
Rotom attacks Charmander for 8 and Charmander defends for 6. Charmander takes 2 damage and is at 1 HP.
Charmander attacks Rotom for 2 and Rotom evades for 1. Rotom fails the evade, taking 2 damage and is knocked out.
This is where Charmander would receive a new PM, evolving from Charmander into Charmeleon and they would learn a new move! Poor Rotom took a risk and got punished.
I think what I will do is use random.org to shuffle the pokemon and then use dice tags to RNG which player gets what. Whoever has the highest number gets the first role and so on. A 2nd dice will be rolled to tiebreak and the result for that used is whoever has the highest result.
Mafia does not seem to want to shuffle around roles. In retrospect, I think I could have informed the mafia a tiny bit about their roles. Actually I think I should have just shown the mafia what their 2nd move is, as their 2nd move I think is probably at least very important for 3 members of the mafia?

Zorua will be playing Hisuian! Maybe the level-up/Rare Candy is just too good? I think an accelerant is probably what that role wants. Maybe I should have given Regular Zorua +2 EVA instead of +1 EVA. I think that would have actually been a really good decision.
Black will be opting for Alola Pix instead of Regular Pix. Will-o is really good but the ice fox gets more powerful the longer the game goes on.

Ralts is going to be male! TBH I think Gallade is probably just better than Gardie, Gardy move 4 is terrible. Gardy in retrospect I think would probably be more interesting if it picked up fainted players on move 3 or 4 and have something else that targets 3 players. TBH Maybe it should have just been a cop on move 4.
