Voting, abilities, and deadlines

Day

• Days begin with a deadline of
  14 days
  .
  
  
• Days end when one of the following events occurs:
  • The deadline is reached.
    
  • A lynch (or no-lynch) is achieved.
    
  • A town-aligned player is modkilled.
• Votes should be made via the vote tag: "[vote]<playername>[/vote]" or "[v]<playername>[/v]". Full player names or initial segments thereof are preferred.
  
  
• When more than half of living players are voting for the same player, that player will be lynched and the day will end. Votes are irrevocable once a majority is achived.
  
  
• You may vote not to lynch by voting for "No lynch". When half or more of living players do so, the day will end without a lynch.
  
  
• If the day reaches deadline without a majority, there will be no lynch.
  
  
• I will interpret malformed votes according to my own discretion. In general, if it looks like a vote, I will probably count it as a vote. I reserve the right to edit malformed votes for easier counting.
  
  
• When a majority vote has been achieved but not yet recognized by the moderator, the game is in
  twilight.
  Players, including the lynchee, may continue to post during this period.
  
  
• Under certain circumstances I may elect to extend the deadline. I will announce this in thread if it occurs.

Night

• Nights will last
  48 hours
  or until all living players PM me their approval to end the night early.
  
  
• During the night, you should be unable to post in the public game thread. If for some reason you are able, doing so is still against the rules.
  
  
• Mafia night abilities should be submitted in the Mafia's private thread. Factional kills must specify which mafioso carries out the kill.
  
  
• Town night abilities should be submitted via PM.
  
  
• Use of active night abilities is optional; if no action is submitted, no action will occur.

Activity requirements

• Players who do not reply within
  72 hours
  of receiving their role PM will be replaced.
  
  
• Players who do not post for
  48 hours
  in a single game-day will incur a prod.
  
  
• Players who do not post for
  24 hours
  following a prod will be replaced.
  
  
• Players who incur three prods will be replaced.
  
  
• At my discretion, excessive "prod-dodging" may result in a mod warning and subsequently in disregard of future dodges.
  
  
• If for any reason you are temporarily unable to meet these requirements, you may declare V/LA status
  in thread
  and be excused. V/LA declarations must include a definite end date.
  
  
• Notwithstanding V/LA status, any player who does not post at all for
  7 days
  in a single game-day will be replaced.
  
  
• These are minimal requirements, not recommendations; please keep the game active.

This game uses the Matrix6 setup designed by Cogito Ergo Sum.

The role distribution is determined by randomly selecting one row or one column from the above table, then filling in the remaining 6 roles with 5 Vanilla Townies and 1 Mafia Goon to create a 7-town, 2-mafia setup.

For example, if Row 1 was chosen, the full setup will be 1 Town Jailkeeper, 6 Vanilla Townies, and 2 Mafia Goons.

Mechanics:

• The first phase is Day 1.
  
• Mafia do not have daytalk: they may communicate in their private thread only at night.
  
• This game uses Natural Action Resolution.
  
• If a Roleblocker and Jailkeeper target one another, the Roleblocker's action will succeed and the Jailkeeper's will fail.
  
• Roleblockers are permitted to submit the factional kill and use their ability during the same night.
  
• Bulletproof is a reflexive ability and cannot be roleblocked.

Hello everyone, and welcome to mafiascum! I will do my best to acclimate you to our forums and game system, and will provide feedback at the end of the game with my thoughts. I hope to get some from you as well, so that I can continue to serve as an IC to the best of my ability.

What does me being an IC mean?

• I am here to help you with game theory and answer any questions you may have about how to play.
  
• Related to the above point, I will
  NOT
  lie to you in regard to anything about the mechanics of the game.
  
• I am still a normal player in this game. I do not have any outside information, and should not be treated differently in terms of the game.
  
• This game is not meant to be "easy-mode", as that will not help you learn. I will play to my wincon as if it were any other game, and expect each of you to do the same. I should not be treated differently because I am the IC.

IC

- Inexperience Challenged. This is a player that has been around for a little while, and has volunteered to join a Newbie game to help teach the game. If you are interested in ever being an IC, you can find info here.

SE

- Semi-Experienced. Semi-Experienced players have played a few games on site, and are included in Newbie games to assist in showing the ropes. There is no teaching expectation from them, though it is likely you can pick up some times from just their play. More information on SE is here.

- This is an annotation for how many votes are required to achieve a lynch. For example, L-2 means that two more votes are needed to lynch the target.

- The final vote to achieve a lynch.

L-1

- It is generally encouraged to announce when your vote places somebody at L-1. This gives the rest of the players a chance to determine whether or not they actually want the lynch performed, and also gives the target a chance to claim if they so wish.
