Activity
If a player doesn't post in-game after a period of 48 hours, other players may request a prod of that player.
If a player doesn't post in-game after a period of 72 hours and another player hasn't made a request, I will prod that player.
If a player is prodded, that player has 24 hours to make an in-game post before a replacement will be found.
If a player receives multiple prods and/or prod-dodges excessively, that player will be subject to a force-replace.
If you are going to be absent for a specific period of time, please let me know ahead of time!
Votes and Lynching
Votes must be in the format of VOTE: Player Name or
VOTE: Player Name
. Abbreviations, missing punctuation, and misspellings will be accepted as long as it is obvious to me who is being voted for. If I perceive it as a vote, it will count as a vote.
Unvotes are not necessary to change a vote.
A player will be lynched if a majority of the players have voted for that player.
You may vote for a
No Lynch
. If a majority of players vote for a No Lynch, the game will proceed to Night without a lynch.
All living players, including the lynchee, may continue to post until I lock the thread.
Once I have posted your death scene, you may not post ("bah" posts are not allowed).
Behavior
Harassment of an individual player is NOT permitted. While this is a competitive game, no personal attacks will be tolerated.
Always play to your win condition.
Do not discuss this game anywhere else with anyone else unless your role allows you to.

This game is using the standard Newbie Game setup, Matrix6. One row or one column will be randomly chosen from the table below and the remaining six roles will be filled in by Mafia Goons and Vanilla Townies as appropriate to create a total of 2 Mafia-aligned players and 7 Town-aligned players.
A
B
C
1
Town Jailkeeper
Vanilla Townie
Mafia Goon
2
Mafia Roleblocker
Town Cop
Town Doctor
3
Town 1-Shot Bulletproof
Mafia Goon
Town Tracker
Please note:
The Mafia must specify who is performing what Night action when the actions are submitted.
In applicable situations, a Roleblocker's action will resolve before a Jailkeeper's action.
In applicable situations, a Mafia Roleblocker has the option of submitting both roleblocks and kills, even when the Mafia Goon is still alive.

Ok, so let's get started. I am mostly a newbie. I hail from another site (one that is not very friendly XD), and I played around 4 games there, but that is the extent of my epxerience. I won as scum my first game by bussing my opponent (there were bigger games there with about 4 scum), but I also played some games as town later. As town I was policy lynched twice in 2 games because people disliked my reads, and because I tended to death tunnel my highest scumread. Lo and behold, the reads ended up becoming right later in the game. I'm not sure how much it applies to this site, but over there I basically scumread by seeing who seemed forced in their writing. And who seems natural. Seems simple enough, right? In any case, this game I'll try to lay off the death tunneling, but I am in general a very confident player and just make sure that dosen't alarm you.
It DOES bother me that we have had so few posts so far. I tend to be active, and the fact that only a few people have posted in a days time is a little weird. With 14 games I guess we have enough time to do whatever we want...
One of the misteps that I see towns doing is deciding on a lynch target too late, and then scum having an excuse not to switch because "any lynch is better than no lynch." Lots of times people say they can get "associations" or other random shit like that from lynches, which I understand, but I also think that at least in the bigger game it was almost as likely if not more for scum to be on each other's wagon. Of course, with only 9 players now, it is most likely going to be differnet.
I saw here that town can often do a cheaty sort of strategy called the BP claim strat? I'm down with exploting the rules (some people think it is against their moral code or whatever I see from games I spectated) and I am wondering people's opinions on that.
One main thing that I see town doing is scumreading people for defensiveness, ssomething that apparently happens on this site too. I can only speak to myself, but I was MORE defensive when I rolled town X2 than if I rolled scum. I honestly think defensivesness is not allignment indicative.
Anyway, this has been a long ramble.
looking forward to a good game!
I had a look in the Completed Newbie Games forum earlier, and went back to like Newbie 01, Newbie 02 etc. - it's quite funny, most of the games are like 3-4 pages long.
I haven't played forum mafia for quite a few years now, I played a couple of games on this forum before, but then I think I quit because I had the flu and somebody was annoying me. I play a lot on 'EpicMafia' though.
What is 'BP claim strategy'? Is that just having the bulletproof person claim D1? If so I don't see how that is exploiting the rules, it is more just like...a strategy. It is fine with me but as far as I can work out, all it is really doing is informing the mafia who not to waste a night kill on. Maybe someone can explain it to me?
There were some things about jailkeeper that I wasn't sure on, but I've forgotten what they were now, and I'm sure I'll figure them out as we go along.

The best way to start off the game is to claim BP or not BP. This is because BP claims won't be taken as seriously if you claim it later in the game, like if it's lynch or lose or if you're about to get lynched. It's a stupid idea for scum to claim BP this early since there's no reason to already think they'll be lynched. In the rare case that scum claims bulletproof, then either the cop (if there is one) or the bulletproof (if there is one) should counterclaim. The doctor shouldn't counterclaim, but if the setup is Column C then the doctor will be the only one to counterclaim(we wait for counterclaims first). If there is no bulletproof claims, then the tracker (if there is one) should claim because they know there is a doctor.
I think that's about everything about the strategy.
We also start off with random votes, so VOTE: StealthyNoodle because there's no type of argument saying that name is townish.

It basically makes them confirmed town, which means they tend to become lazy. It also isn't good for new players bc it distracts from typical scum hunting
