props to oman for stepping up as a mod and doing what had to be done.
refusing to read role pm's is bullshit, it is isn't necessarily anti-town -- just anti-fun.-

I like the Daytalk mechanic, with PM'sPrimate wrote:

I dunno, it just seems pointless unless you just wanted to play a vanilla nightless game.-

nieroe@gmail.com is an email account I'll check for this game.
In the open setup thread where I'm active and this mechanic was discussed, IM was not presented as a critical element. I don't IM -- it is a form of communication I've always been really frustrated with.
Also, I recruited a couple of good, intelligent, active players, including NabNab whom I'm something like 0-5 against in games where we have different win conditions. I'm into this game, and its players, and I don't see why IM is so important to xyzzy.-

this setup would be much more interesting if there were townie powerroles.
vote: Mod randomly makes one townie a Cop and one scum a Godfather
I don't think it would shift the balance too much, and it would make the game far more interesting.
this isourgame, and we should be able to do what we want to with it, even change the setup, especially if we can get 100% of the players to go along with it.
Agreed?-

fair? I'm more worried about []interesting[/i], and playing in a game that isn'tstalled.
Cicero was the only player I'd exchanged private communication with so far in this game, so not very much seems to be happening from what I can tell.
Having a player who is a cop would make he setup far more dnamic and interesting, and I assumed the scum players would go along with it for that reason-- it wouldn't shift the balance too much anyhow.
Were you the one that cried to Thesp?-

shoo, I forgot NabNab was even in this game. I figured that a meritorious wagon was too much to hope for at this point, so I went with what we had thinking that at least a hammer or the aftermath tomorrow would be illustrative.-

A note to other players: vollkan is very good at appearing protown. So, how do you trap a scum-vollkan? You give him obviously scummy evidence to analyze and expound upon, dazzeling the uninvolved townies with the depth and accuracy of his thoughts.
How many times has a scum player claimed scum in a mafia game? How often has a town player claimed scum in a mafia game? Does a scum claim have any bearing on a player's real alignment? How throughly did vollkan dazzle you?-

Every read about Game theory?Guardian wrote:
Adel, sup with NabNab?
I choose one player at the beginning of the game to believe is pro town (3/4 chance of being right) and he is the player I picked.
The way I see it, the tactic to maximize the town's chances of success is for every player to preted they are confirmed masons with one other player. One quarter will be making a horrible decision, but that will be more than balanced out by the other three quarters who get to have a very benifical relationship.-

you illustrated the worse case scenario, with each player pairing up.Guardian wrote: doesn't seem like a great deal at all, to me. it does to you?
I trust Nab-Nab because I like the 8/11 odds of him being pro-town. If each player makes a similar one-way choice (random would be great) then on average it works out much better.-

1. I picked nabnab on day 1. You asked me what was up with him.Guardian wrote:I want to hear jdodge's above question answered.

As for the mason thing -- so you propose we all choose one way mason-ness? That makes a bit more sense maths wise, but then why would our chose mason communicate with us, if he didn't think we were town?do you still find kab suspicious? What are we waiting for from nab nab?
Can you speak to why you think that is better than selecting pro-town appearing players?
Aren't the chances using random now only 5/8 that we get good buddies? Aren't the odds only 5/8 that Nab is town?
2. I never really found kab all that suspicious.. (feel free to quote the posts where I sound sincere.
3. I am pretty convinced by NN's case, I guess I just wanted my vote to sound just a little extra scummy.-

Yes, partially because I find Phate to be pretty convincing.Guardian wrote:do you still find kab suspicious?
I'm not sure. I do know that I'm something like 0-4 against him in games where we have separate alignments, so I have a pretty high regard for his ability. What are we waiting for from nab nab?
As things currently stand the mafia benifit quite a bit more from the daytime communication that we do, so I've spent some time trying to figure out how to balance things out. Apparently there was very little communication between players day 1. More communication is needed. As you pointed out the ratio's are a little off now from yesterday, so maybe it would be best to just pick the player you think is the most townie. I wish this game had a powerrole or two.
As for the mason thing -- so you propose we all choose one way mason-ness?
That is the roadblock I hit. Nab-Nab's responces to me so far basically consist of the word "no."That makes a bit more sense maths wise, but then why would our chose mason communicate with us, if he didn't think we were town?
I thought about it, and I think random choices are not as good as each player choosing to talk to the one person they think is the most townie, and spilling thier guts. Lay it all out via PM, and give that player as much information as you possibly can that could possibly effect the game.
Can you speak to why you think that is better than selecting pro-town appearing players?
I picked him day 1. see my above post.
Aren't the chances using random now only 5/8 that we get good buddies? Aren't the odds only 5/8 that Nab is town?-

that is very true.. on the pther hand either Nab-Nab is scared of my scum hunting abilities despite having played in several games with me where I failed as a scum-hunting townie, or he thinks there is a very real chance that I am scum trying to buddy up to him... which makes him pretty much confirmed to me, and a great nk target, so we should get all of the analysis out of him that we can today.Xtoxm wrote:I'm thinking kabenon is sounding pretty sincere.
Not liking volkan so much, not sure what to make of Adel's "random day 1 choosing" could be a scum tagging on to a townie.-
