Newbie 655: Zeroville. (Game Over!)

Nothing much happens in the sleepy little hamlet of Zeroville, but if TV has taught me anything it's that every sleepy little hamlet is hiding a dark secret. In Zeroville's case, that secret is that the butcher is a raging alcoholic who once had romantic relations with Zeke Johnson's prize bull.

Also, the town is run by a small (but perfectly formed) mafia crew. But not for long!

Rules (blatantly stolen from JDodge, who stole them from mith):

• During Day, you may vote for the player you want to lynch. Votes should be in the form

You are a Mafia Roleblocker, along with your partner _________ (who is simply a Goon). Your goal is to eliminate the pro-town players so that only your side remains; you win if this happens. During the Day, try to blend in with the rest of the players, and get someone lynched.

You may talk with your partner at Night, and send me a choice via PM of who you would like to kill/roleblock (your team can do both so long as you live).

Note: You may talk with your partner privately during confirmations to plan strategy, but no night actions will take place until Night One.

You are the Cop, and you can tell good from bad. Each Night, you may send a player's name to me; I will let you know if your investigation shows that they are Mafia or Town. You win if the scum are eliminated, so choose wisely at Night, and lynch well during the Day.

Note: Cops always get a correct result in Newbie Games (no sanity issues), unless you are roleblocked. You cannot investigate yourself.

The residents of Zeroville were almost surprised that they'd come to a decision at last: tumescence was mafia (probably) and would have to go. Never big on the concept of deportation, they instead dusted off the old gallows in the town square. After four attempts, two new ropes, a large quantity of WD-40 and the ministrations of the fishmonger's (surprisingly strong) wife, there was a drop, a snap, and a cheer. The mood dimmed a little when a cursory search revealed that tumescence had been carrying no weapons or illicit items - he was a mere townie.

Yesterday's "practice lynch" (as it had become known) had prepared the residents of Zeroville well. It was barely past dawn when they reached their decision: four fingers were swiftly pointed at populartajo. "But I'm your doctor!" he cried in vain. Things went far more smoothly this time, with only two attempts required before the deed was done. In what might appear to the untrained eye to be a transparant narrative device, populartajo's jacket fell open at the bottom of his journey, and his gun fell to the dusty ground below. The residents of Zeroville breathed a sigh of relief, then inexplicably returned to their houses and locked the doors to await nightfall.

Oops, fixed Yuu's gender in the lynch post. Sorry 'bout that.

This was a pretty good game from a modding perspective - there were a few slow moments on day 1 but things obviously picked up a bit after that. It's fairly common to have a few replacements on the first day of these games, but replacement newbies are usually fairly easy to come by. Thanks to the replacements, and particularly to populartajo for taking the IC spot - those can be tough to fill sometimes.
