Site tips and tricks
Looking to build up a list of tricks and tips to include with my vote counts when running newbie games.
Looking for suggestions. Any idea that might be helpful to a newbie is welcome. In the past I've talked about the wiki, Mafia theory, general discussion, the discord, other ways to be part of the community etc.
Any ideas?tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner-

I think an explanation of best practices for PRs might be helpful. I haven't gotten to try playing as a PR yet, but if I got one, I'm still not entirely sure how and when I should reveal my information. Since newbie games only have a handful of possible PRs, you could include a few tips and common strategies for each.-

I want to kind of stay away from actual game play advice because that kind of is problematic as the mod I think, I was more like looking for things about the site that you like/think are good that you didnt know about as newbies.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner-

Gotcha, that makes sense. I'm still very much a newbie myself so I guess I'm not sure what cool things I don't know about yet
In the area of "other ways to be part of the community", maybe you could include an explanation of some of the bigger site events like Team Mafia and the Scummies, to give newbies an idea of what else they can jump into here throughout the year? I only learned how those worked by exploring the site, so newbies who don't do that might not find out about them.-

You can vote and unvote using v and uv tags instead of typing out the whole word.-

I know you said to avoid actual game advice but these are very basic ones that aren't even that complicated and can definitely help any newbie. Also, I've written these before realizing you're looking for site-specific stuff and I didn't want to shift delete.
humaneatingmonkey's guide to eating humans:
1.Before you start playing, make sure you understand the rules of the game, the roles involved, and how they interact with each other.Understand the game rules:
PROTIP:Be aware of the nuances of different roles and how they might interact with each other, as these interactions can have significant impacts on game outcomes.
2.Clear and concise communication is important. Be open about your suspicions, ask questions, and explain the reasoning behind your votes.Effective Communication:
PROTIP:Consider the timing of your communication. Sharing the right information at the right time can shift the game in your favor.
3.Join in the discussions and voting. If you're quiet, others might think you're hiding something.Active Participation:
PROTIP:Try to contribute to the conversation regularly, but remember, it's a game of balance. You don't want to draw too much attention to yourself either.
4.Watch how other players act. Do they talk a lot or are they quiet? Do they agree easily or question others a lot?Analyze Player Behavior:
PROTIP:Try to remember how each person acts at the start of the game, then watch for any changes in their behavior.
5.Keep a record of the game as it unfolds. Note down key events, voting patterns, suspicions raised, and behaviors exhibited by players.Take Notes:
PROTIP:Refer to these notes regularly, particularly before making important decisions or accusations.
6.Don't take things at face value. Always question the motives behind a player's actions or accusations.Question Everything:
PROTIP:Sometimes, it's not just what is being said, but who is saying it and why. Understanding player motives can help you see through deception.
7.Try not to let emotions cloud your judgment. Making decisions based on emotion rather than logic can lead to mistakes.Stay Calm and Rational:
PROTIP:If you feel like you're getting emotional, take a break. Keep your participation to one post every three hours and return after an hour if necessary. Maintaining a clear mind is crucial.
8.If you're accused, don't panic. Clearly explain your actions and the reasoning behind them.Defend Yourself Effectively:
PROTIP:Preparation is key. Anticipate potential accusations and have your defense ready beforehand to avoid panic in the heat of the moment.-

you could have a tip about how most moderators let you have a notes/confessional PT for getting your thoughts down or whatever. They're very useful and probably a lot of newbies who could benefit from them don't ask for one cuz they don't realize it's a thingInvisibility is actually AWESOME!-
