I believe him when he says it was a joke. even still some times people attach some weak reasoning to a random vote as a method of getting an early wagon going on someone to get them to drop scum tells under pressure.UnofficialRulerOfEveryone wrote:Unvote; Vote: ThaCoolness
Semi-serious, semi-random.
It doesn't feel right to me that he would vote me for saying that, especially since it is 97% obvious (Scum claiming is a possibility, AP did it in the most hilarious way ever once...) that it was a joke, it israndom voting stage(AKAjokevoting stage), don't take things so serious.
FoS: UnofficialRulerOfEveryonefor taking the random voting stage WAY too seriously, and for jumping votes not even 1 full page into D1-

@Zwet:
I'm not sure if what you did was a tactical calculation or just blind stupidity.
Typically when discussing strategy based around the mechanics of the game the town should reach a consensus first before any action is taken. You not only pushed for (or mistook the banter for a push for) a mass claim, but you also claimed and then proceeded to self-vote.
The idea is that we DO still want to lynch scum tonight. But if we HAVE to mis-lynch, it should be a vanilla, that way we have a greater chance of cross-killing scum tonight.
How we actually go about this productively is a mater of scum hunting coupled with strategy discussion -- not unilateral action.-

We're working with two scenarios here.
1) We believe his claim
2) We don't believe his claim.
If we don't believe his claim that means he's scum. Even the most basic of strategy says you shouldn't EVER claim a power role, because that's who the mob goes after first. If he were pro town, then he should have claimed vanilla.
If you do believe his claim, then he's deprived us of a power role. The mob are going to want to get rid of the power roles as quickly as possible. Which means even if he is alive tonight, he won't be by morning to announce the results of his investigation.
Asking for a counterclaim is just stupid, because if he is lying and he is scum, then having the cop counterclaim means you're exposing him to a kill.-

Do you believe Dej is still a good lynch target for D1? If so, why? If not can you give a good reason why you're on the fence about removing your vote until you hear other people's opinions?Sironigous wrote:I'm going to wait for more responses before considering the unvote of my vote.

You only answere the second part of my question. I'll bold the first part again so that you do not miss it this time.

You make very concise and analytical posts like this:
And also make excuses for dropping scum tells:Sironigous wrote:A mis-lynch will make the majority of Day 2 5, considering that the mafia nightkill a townie (lol why wouldn't they) and the doctor misses his protect.
That means that the remaining 3 townies, still unaware of their counterparts, have to band together for a majority in order to have a chance at winning. :S
mm..
I'm not buying it. I see you haven't played in very many games here yet but it sounds like you know better, and you're playing the newbie card strategically.nicoliosgotpolio wrote:

I'm going to put my IC hat on for a second and note that there hasn't been much real content over the last page and a half or so. Mostly just a very mild undertone of bickering back and fourth, some questions related to mafia in general and a busy post from UnofficialRulerOfEveryone.
I jumped onto Sironigous to get some more discussion going for lack of any other activity. I'd like to hear some opinions from the rest of you as to whether you think my analysis is correct, or whether you would lean in the other direction, and why? Please put some thought and detail into your posts.
Hopefully we can take this game in a few other directions from there.-

Inexperience Challenged.
Every game run in the newbie queue as at last two experienced players that are referred to as ICs who are in the games specifically to guide newbies and answer these types of questions. It makes me wonder why you guys wandered into the open game queue for your first games, but I guess it really doesn't matter. I'd rather help you out than sit here and whine about it just so we can get some progress going.-

Retracted statements can be useful in hindsight. if everyone could simply retract a statement after they drop a scum tell the game would be pointless.Sironigous wrote:Well, thanks for the consideration hohum.
So, this first lynch is important... Where can we go?... Progress...
We have...
information, not much.
retracted statements, much.
Can retracted statements be the key lead-on to determine the all-important Day 1 lynch??
Find out, on the next posts of Bird C9!!!
That's why I couldn't picture lynching you based on what I just brought up alone. Time will tell though based on the things you say next whether or not I was right.
I'd still like to hear everyone else's opinion on the matter though for two reasons.
1) The discussion will lead us somewhere else
2) The way people answer will also give us some useful information to go on.-

It isn't that this game is confusing, it's that the whole town has stopped contributing since we got off the last wagon.Sironigous wrote:I feel special.
Wait...
Could you identify to me which posts do make sense and which ones don't?
... I guess sense posts > nonsense posts?
I mean, I suppose that math one is sensical. But the ones accusing Dej are nonsensical (lol always wanted to use that)?...
... I love how confusing this game is.
Nonsense posts suck, and it's a way for people to fly under the radar, but there's enough people here doing it that it's hard to really call anyone out for it.everyone: please stop doing it
I've attempted to jumpstart life back into this thread again.
So far a few of the posts you've made has caused me to raise my eyebrows.
Does anyone have anything useful to contribute?-

There's been a flurry of activity since I left. Quite excellent.
I see you guys are already aware that Dej is at L-1.
I need to go back and reread sir in isolation because based on my notes here (and I've already raised some initial concerns in thread) I would tend to agree with UnofficialRulerOfEveryone that Sir is a better lynch target than Dej for day 1.
We really have to dig our feet in as a group though and come to a decision about whether or not the mistakes Sironigous has been making can be chalked up to a clueless townie, or clever scum.
I would like to hear what Sironigous thinks of that comment, and get him to (as concisely as possible) explain why we should be giving him the BoTD. Please try to do this without posting a PBPA, because your PBPAs still need a lot of work.-

I'll gladly either unvote or ask someone to hammer based on his response. For now he can stay at L-1nicoliosgotpolio wrote:
Point taken.lol. But I doubt someone under 13 would want to play this complicated game online.
Wait, none of this matters.
Wait a few minutes, maybe he's conjuring an explanation right now. Thanks for COMPLETELY dodging me.
Perhaps if we ratchet up the pressure a bit you'll be more inclined to try and save yourself.
Vote: Sironigous
Nobody pushes him off the cliff until we get an answer though, got it?-

First of all you went from assuming that Coolness was scum to assuming that Coolness actually didn't fake claim in the length of a two pages. Wow. Fence sit much?
Secondly, you've just OMGUSed me on the way out. I was really trying to believe you were making honest mistakes here, but I've seen enough. I'm satisfied that Sironigous is our best D1 lynch target.
Someone please hammer so we can begin twilight.-

Sure. Out of curiosity I investigated ThaCoolness over the course of the evening and got a guilty back on him. Do you think it's a coincidence that he's still alive?UnofficialRulerOfEveryone wrote:The real cop want to claim now? We are in sub-technical 5p LyLo (3 town v 2 scum, but town has doctor, and the doctor can't protect the cop)

I think we should mass claim at this point since we're in LYLO. It could help us out his scum partner too, that way we can line up back-to-back lynches-

I know, and sorry for stealing your thunder. I just saw an opportunity for a quick takedown when URoE asked the cop to claim and gambled on it. It could have just as easily backfired on me.nicoliosgotpolio wrote:
