general theory, and explanation why cult could lurk. The theory doesn't hurt town. It does the contrary: perfect cult play helps town. Because the cult that is trying the hardest to get innocents killed is not the cult that is going to win. The cult that hurts its enemy's the most is the cult that is going to win. Imperfect cult play will focus on town, and that is not what we want, do we?

Jebus, maybe it is easier to see if you look at it as sort of a prisoners dilemma: If cult plays imperfect and cooperate, it is sure one of them will win. If one of them defects, they are going to win. Cult must play against the other cults to win, it is that simple.

Theory be said, I've never been one to play that way. For example, I try to play the same from one game to another (with the exception of changes in playstyle). Even in a game like this, if I were a CL/recruit/God, I'd probably do the same thing I'm doing now.

Now Wifom aside, I believe I've made my point. While it makes sense for cults+god to lurk, we can't take it as a given, but more use it as a dependent tell.

O, but that is not what I'm talking about. The theory was apart from it, and only clears up the cults goals. And I agree with the conclusions you take: we had a lurker, and that doesn't mean he is sure to be God. It's not a solid God-tell

I find that when scum claim they word their claims strangely, and give themselves away. That's what I'm hoping for.

Yes, but the only claims possible would sound like any of the following:

I am God
I am the [religion] Cult Leader
I am a cult recruit of [religion]
I am an agnostic
I am Nietzsche

Hopefully we won't see the last one, and the first two have, sadly, already been said, though should still be unexpected.

Then we have recruit and agnostic, both of which aren't terrible things to claim - lynching a recruit would be a waste of a lynch, we've got bigger fish to fry. As for claiming agnostic, that's the same as claiming vanilla.

Either way, asking for a claim in an open game such as this will not have the results you are looking for, zwet.

Exactly. Mass claim is pointless. Or even claims, actually.

I’ll help you out. I’ve said that zwet, quints, and mask man look like recruits to me. Zwet and mask man were distracting early on, qwints looked opportunistic on votes. Zwet’s play looks better recently but maybe I’m just getting used to his short and frequent posting style.

I don’t like Double A’s contribution but I’ll give him a tinsy bit of slack for being new and pressure him to contribute more often and more analysis. Pacman I don’t like his posts either but I know he gets like this in all the games I've played with him, and pressuring might be the only way to figure out an alignment from him. Right now I have no idea on a Double A or Pacman alignment.

I can’t remember Indigo or Tornado doing anything which is bad because I think scum might try to get away with lurking and hope the town will only lynch someone who has posted something scummy and not waste our best lynch day on a no read. Zachattack has been lurking lately too and a good some of his posts were IIOA and maybe 1 early opportunistic jump on a wagon, so he could be scum too.

Is it possible we could get a votecout + global prod? Lots of people seem relatively inactive, and I don't know where we stand on votes D:

I'm inactive. Yeah, I admit. But zswetchen is worse than inactive. His posts are getting me insane; he votes, then changes his vote 10 minutes later. Then, he keeps parroting and saying useless stuff. He is definitely annoying me.

Vote: zswetchenwasser

I'm hoping that it's not useless. I'm hoping for that 20% chance that he gives us some valuable information. The only pro-town reason for you to preemptively hush him up is if you have reason to believe he's Nietzsche, which I
highly
doubt. I don't have a right to know, but if he's willing to tell us, he has the right to claim. I'm not strong arming him.

Show this stuff. I think ZSW has been pretty pro-town. The only 2 charges I've heard levied against him are that his posting style is disenchanting and that he shouldn't have joked about being CL or God.

Eagerness to get to the night phase is a scum (God/CL) tell. It'd be a tell coming from a newbie or an experienced player, but experienced players would know better.

That blatant Wifom was to make a point - we can't use lurking as a scumtell independently. Don't be selective with your quoting, this came right after it:
