Spinach's hatred of monkey's is really unfortunate. It's my childhood nickname, my son's nickname, and my son's favorite stuffed animal is a sock monkey!Spinach wrote:What is your opinions on the random voting stage?
- I feel it's just filler in a game. Talk to break down barriers, needless words until someone slips up and we all remove our votes and get serious. I feel someone issuing a list of questions like you have helps a lot, and I'm glad that I'm not the one to have to do it this time.
Why did you pick this game in particular?
- Well, this is my first game out of the Newbie Queue (Yay!) and I felt like I wanted a game where it wouldn't be too overwhelming with the changing of rules and number of people playing, so this game was perfect.
Who do you expect to be the first person to be lynched this game, and why?
- Well, it would be dumb to bet on it so early in the game, when we're still throwing 'I hate u!' votes. . Though if you're wanting me to guess at this point, I would honestly have to say me. ( ). People just seem to not appreciate the value of a healthy plate of yummy Spinach!
Who do you want to be lynched first this game, and why?
- As said above, it would be silly to have actual accusations at this point in time. Though I do hate monkeys, so if youreallywant me to state a person now, it would have to be him.-

I'm not encouraging random voting, where did you get that idea? Quite the opposite actually, more like encouraging a new opening stage besides random voting.ODDin wrote:Monkey, why do you feel the need to push us back to the RVS? DNW's (my way of sayhing DOESnotWANT's nick from now on) questions pretty much pulled us out of it.-

I think the current line of questioning of Starbuck is rather useless and superficial, and you don't know that my ideas of discussion is useless...ODDin wrote:You weren't encouraging randomvoting, per se, but you did encourage going back to random and idle discussion, which cannot develop into anything useful.-

However, more often than not, the RVS takes peoples statements out of context or blows things out of proportion, resulting in a day one mislynch.ODDin wrote:Monkey, I'm not talking about the line of questioning Starbuck specifically (which is a bit too harsh IMO, but then again, I'm not a big fan of pressure tactics), but rather about DNW's original questions, which sort of pulled us out of the RVS.
Also, pardon me if I don't see how playing "Two Truths and a Lie" (with non-mafia related topics, at any rate) helps the discussion. The problem in RVS isn't the need to break the ice, it's the need to get on topic and generate some actual game-related discussion.-

Yeah, I see what you mean about the claim being scummy. No one would ever say they are scum, so saying you are town in that way without being pressed sounds fishy.Spinach wrote:Okay. People need to use ONE account to post in games. Please. It makes the game confusing for everyone in it, especially when looking back for post reviews and such. I don't even see the point of having multiple accounts on here, it makes no sense.
I'd like to point out something:
Something about this quote.. she states she's town in a way that comes off as scummy to me. This is also her only post, which worries me.Claramata wrote: 3. I don't know, I'm hoping it won't be me, as I tend to be an early lynch when playing town.
Mod: Could we please get a prod on Claramata? Thanks.-

Drawing attention to yourself is not pro town because it is not scum hunting.Locke Lamora wrote:Unvote; Vote: MonkeyMan
I didn't notice that he'd voted for Hernz when I did. I don't see how drawing attention to yourself is not pro-town in itself. Still got my eye on Hernz and Droideka now that Droideka has defended Hernz too, though.-

I wasn't suggesting the two truths and a lie to avoid scumhunting, merely trying to see what people would think of trying something other than random voting. However, getting the game out of the RVS by voting on yourself is certainly not good play.Spinach wrote:
But voting himself stimulated discussion; stimulating discussion helps us find scum, so self-voting (in this situation) is pro-town.Starbuck wrote:The goal of this game is not to vote for yourself. It's to decipher and solve and find out who the scummiest people are.
Voting for yourself is anti-town. It's a stance I will always take because it is against the spirit of the game.
So by your rules, I should FoS everyone for random voting because it is not scumhunting, because doing anything other than scumhunting is anti-town, and FoS you because you wanted to play two truths and a lie, which is certainly not scumhunting.MonkeySudo wrote:
Scumhunting is pro-town. Not scum-hunting is anti-town. It's pretty simple.Locke Lamora wrote:Neither do I. Drawing attention to yourself could be used in a pro-town way and helpful in scumhunting later on.
I'm suspicious of anyone who thinks self-voting is pro-town generally.
And I'd like to re-emphasize something I said earlier:Spinach wrote: Okay. People need to use ONE account to post in games. Please. It makes the game confusing for everyone in it, especially when looking back for post reviews and such. I don't even see the point of having multiple accounts on here, it makes no sense.
Also-also: I've 'prodded' DNW.-

The other account was an accident. As for the RV, Absolutely nothing, which is why it is scummy. We didn't need to get out of the RVS so badly that you needed to act like scum.Henrz wrote:Stop using other accounts... Firstly, I never said I don't like the RVS we just needed to get out of it, and secondly what does the RVS got to do with voting myself?-

If you want to defend self voting as a valid tactic, that's fine. I don't. I think it's anti town. Not necessarily so much scummy, but definately anti town. There's better things we could be doing that will bring better results.Spinach wrote:

And I'd like to know how self-voting is scummy besides 'it isn't scumhunting'.
And by that point we were out of the RVS. The game was stalling and nothing was happening.
I'd say we exited the RVS when the first non-random vote came (post 35). Hernz self-voted on post 75, well after the RVS ended and while the game was stalling.-

WIFOM much? If self voting was pro town, everyone would do it all the time.Droideka_11 wrote:
Yes because scum often vote for themselves...MonkeyMan576 wrote:Voting is a tool to find scum. If you vote for yourself, you are either misleading the town or saying there's a good chance you're scum. The town should pursue cases against those that are voted on, be it self votes or otherwise. It seems obvious to me.
I don't see how Henrz was acting scummy when he voted for himself. Attracting uneeded attention to yourself in order to get the game moving is hardly scummy IMO.-

Henrz is my top suspect. I still don't like his self-voting reasoning and he wasn't on the Starbuck lynch. And I don't think he has a right to attack my playing, it's not like he's "the greatest player in the world."
Tarballs would be my next top suspect at this point. I don't like the way he says I "was his top suspect but I don't see him getting lynched in the near future." That indicates that he still might think I should be lynched, even if most think I'm town. If that's the case, he should say that rather than vote by the guise of town populism.-
