charter is probably town but was quick to confirm sando for no real reason, and that guy is sneaky (and quiet).

crypto is probably town, but either way we'll be almost certain to be able to tell later, so certainly not lynchworthy.

There's been some rubbish statements put forward, like 'scum are more likely to attack with good reason' and 'she seems scummy because she's tryign to defend herself properly'. Ugh. I'd hate to think what you guys assume town do - OMGUS and scratch themselves by the sound of it.

If the cop is sane, no lynch is demonstrably better. If you lynch someone, you either get dead townie or dead scum. If you investigate someone, you either get confirmed innocent townie or effectively dead scum. As i said- demonstrably better. Plus - confirmed town is how you win games. If we have 4 confirmed town to endgame, it doesn't matter if we lose every other town player wihtout hitting a single scum - that's a garunteed win.

But - as has been said, sanity issues (especially in the light of the balance of the game) makes this strategy a no-go, I think.

As for EC, my suggestion to you if you feel as you wrote at one point that I'm using bad reason and manipulating your words, is that if you don't agree with a no lynch, you shouldn't take a paragraph written about how powerful a no lynch is and quote it with the words 'I agree' underneath .

Haven't been impressed by Pomegranite. Seems to both see No Lynch as a valid strategy (lets discuss, get to near lynch then see if we want to no lynch) then say that the no lynch idea was extremely scummy.

Lessons in activity.
1) 48 hours is not unreasonable to wait for someone to post.
2) Look at people's sigs before you accuse them of being inactive.
3) Count how many posts someone has before you accuse them of being inactive and compare that number to (off the top of my head) kaiveran, sando, charter, le chat, CSL, Team Aether, X_~, staple, muh316 and probably more. I'll even let you take off the last couple of posts which are clearly placeholders if you like.
And the most important lesson of all:
4) Having 60 posts in the 9th page, literally 1/4 of all posts in a 16 person game not including the mod, is

. You are spamming the thread, making re-reads and scumcatching harder.

He's also arguing these other points that have no bearing whatsoever on SC's alignment.

You are right. When I linked into that and saw mith's avatar, I was thinking that it was the newbie's rules.

To be fair to him, I started the argument by making a pretty snide list of activity rules, and possibly he wanted to voice that he didn't agree with them.

To be fair to ME, I was accused of being scum for not posting for 2 days on D1 when there's plenty of other people who have posted much less of significance and much lesso ften than me.

And yes - the point of lookign at that game isn't to look at the activity rules, it's to look at the fact I had 3 posts in the entirety of D1 and yet still rocked the kasbah while being town.

charter - as for Sando, he's a really good friend in real life, we used to live together and still see each other heaps, I've known him for over a decade. And so you can imagine, if he's scum and wins, my life will be forfeit

Seriously though, his post was good but it's also his only one of content and I disagree about the no lynch stance. I don't see him as a particularly townie read (although not scummy either.) I was surprised you had such a strong reaction from one post.

2. I'm not liking Cookie or x_~ right now. I think it's possibly newbiness, but I feel that they may try to pass of genuine scummyness as newbiness, so I'm not going to put much stock in that.

I have a hard time believing that those are the only two players you think are worth commenting on. Two easy choices, plus you play the newbie card for them.

3. I think we should play this game day out normally, whether or not no-lynch is a better idea- giving the scum extra information doesn't help us. When we're ready to end the day(, enough discussion or someone very scummy deserving to be lynched) we can decide if we think no-lynch is a better idea.

4. I'm sure that there's at least one scum between the people who followed charter on the no-lynch bandwagon at the beginning of the day. It was extremely scummy.

I know I and some others said something similar, but dumping "extremely scummy" on three or four players is icky. Since then SerialClergyman has participated plenty, and Muh has made some posts as well.

Which leads me to my next point: zero real observations on anything that's occurred since page 3. That post I've quoted from is the only one with much substance at all. There's been a bucketload of stuff to comment on, too. Popping for two one-line posts—one of them a glib "Probably wait for 48 hours" and one of them a defense against SerialClergyman—without posting anything of consequence makes me go "Achoo!"

Actually, I generally do lurk D1, especially in large games; it's hard for me to get reads with so many different participants. There are a lot of players, which are hard to keep track of in large quantities. (Kinda like puppies. )

Yes. Even in smaller games I lurk D1, but not as much. I just finished a large game where I was killed N1, but the game looked like it would've been really fun to have a chance to play for longer. IIRC, it was Mafia #100.

In Mafia 100 you posted 25 times on day 1 (the only day you were alive). Day 1 lasted 9 days (August 15–23). 25 posts / 9 days = 2.78 posts per day. Not lurking by any means. (You were town doc.)

Day 1 of this game has so far lasted 6 days (October 8–13). You've posted 9 times. 9 posts / 6 days = 1.5 posts per day.

Prior to this exchange, you'd posted 6 times over the course of 6 days—1 post per day.

Anyway, you posted plenty of content in Mafia 100 right from the start.

Six pages ain't that much. It's Mafia. We read a lot. I don't buy that defense/excuse out of sheer principle.
