Oh, crap - so one can lose unique units?

I'd rather not go with EmpTyger's plan - no lynching = no fun; game breaking = not as easy as one usually thinks = no fun.

You
want
to break the game? Why can't we just have guidelines, and play the usual way?

Well, now. I know what a themed game is, thank you very much, and I'm playing in several as we speak.

I'm willing to follow the plan; I'd just
prefer
we play a themed game the old-fashioned way while interacting with the game mechanics.

I'm here. Unvote: Mr. Flay since that vote is nothing but random.

Personally, I would rather NOT have someone directing what everyone does at night. Let's leave a little bit of mystery to the mafia eh? After all, we aren't quite sure what powers they have.

Claiming will be interesting later on in this game. I wonder if there are any non-vanilla civs.

swinkee wrote:Just throwing a couple of ideas out there: Is it possible that the mafia don't have units? Is it possible that the mafia are assigned units each night? Because I've played Civ 1 and III, and in neither did the barbarians ever build units, and only rarely were even able to capture cities.
Interesting if you take it from the standpoint he could be mafia in this instance.

Puzzle - you've made that list under the assumption that everyone built a cop unit, correct? What about those that chose another unit to build, or those that advanced? Things to consider, these are.

I suppose that's for my vote on swinkee? I can't really help that a wagon formed behind me for less than stellar reasons (I gave my own, reasons, which at least I think to be justifiable), nor was it my intention. Maybe looking at those further down the line, that gave little to no reason at all?

if your civ is a better doc role or if youve already started builing your defensive roles then you should keep it up. and ahving a plan will only help the barbarians figure out waht they need to do at night.

OK, since I've went back between our most recent candidates, I'd be happy with a
vote: EmpTyger
. Along with the Hez thing, counting people always gets the hackles up. I think he unknowingly dropped us some early clues (I'm not going to call it a trademarked Tell). Like this italicized stuff -
EmpTyger, a LONG time ago, wrote:The basic game of Civ3 had 16 civilizations. But I am concerned that assuming 16 civilizations = 16 townspeople with 4 barbarian antitowns is a mistake.
For one thing, a 4:1 ratio seems too high for the town.
For another, massclaims Day 1 or ever pretty much automatically breaks the game *too* easily to be plausible. If the setup were 16 civilizations + n barbarians, I would have thought that the game would have had more players to allow a larger barbarian horde, setting aside the problem of massclaims. But I can’t see only 4 antitowns as plausible, at least not without them having safer claims. And if there are more than 4 antitowns, there must be less than 16 protowns.
To me, Emp seems to have some information, which just reeks of scum. Of course, voting for Bamboo wouldn't hurt my feelings any.

But, we need to consider confirming others' innocence - I think the best thing to do is to have those with innocents to just say that they have an innocent to report, no names yet. Depending on numbers, I think it would be ok to reveal, but I need more time to think about this.

Hmmm... that's really intuitive on Thok's part, but also would be
really
sneaky on Puzzle's part. I'll have to think about that one.

That post also sparked some type of feeling in me. See this now - I'm getting to the point that I'm very confident Thok and Puzzle have opposite alignments.

I'd feel better about this post if Flay hadn't made a similar comment earlier about me and Emptyger (post 103) that turned out to be false. Flay then turned up scum.
Ah, but the difference is, Thok, that I will not turn up scum. Pretty simple, eh?

Basically, Akonas, we've reduced this game to a sit-and-see method of playing. And, with what we've been doing the past Day and a half, no one really has too much chance to seem scummeriffic. I'm getting to the point where I'd like to know the guilty result we've got at the moment, so I can go and analyze that player's interaction, and hopefully pass on something useful before my time comes.

Just because we're waiting, guys, doesn't mean we can't play.

I think that's right - please tell me if I goofed. d_rouge is slated first to tell, but I'm currently looking to replace him in my Mini. A prod, and maybe even a replacement, may be in order.

So, the plan is, we go through the list of players, one by one, and ask them, in that specific order, if they got any guilty investigations last night or not?
Well, we've gotten to the point where we're just revealing investigations (guilty or innocent) the first time around, I think.

Sigh - you're very close to getting a vote from me if you hadn't been investigated. But, wait... if you're a "confirmed" innocent, why are you still alive? WIFOM, possibly, but it's in scum's best interest to kill off the confirmed,

in this setup.

Forget order - I didn't get a result last Night. My dudes suck. At Puzzle - lucky guess? I didn't think much about it... the Huns are normally who I think of when one says "Barbarians."

Possible but way too early to go that way imho.
If I was a paranoid player, which I am, I'd see a possibility of scums trying to blur the map of cleared townies. Happy with my vote.
Ah, but I wasn't trying to blur the cleared ones that we have now. I was thinking if there could be a different scheme we could use, and factoring in GFs might assist our endeavors.

Here you justify your vote for inHim by suggesting that his mentioning a GF is something scum would do to try to "blur the map of cleared townies". Believe it or not, I was trying to say that unless either me or raj is a GF, it's irrelevant. d-Rouge and Astro are probably-innocent-by-implication rather than investigation.

Scum do try to muddy the waters but
I'd be more concerned about the fact that inHim came out with something that seems helpful but is really just obvious.
I didn't think it to be so obvious, given the mechanics of the game thus far. Maybe it is, though, and I've lost touch for this game.

Heh...yeah. I realize that at this point, almost no matter what I say, my odds of surviving until the end of the game aren't great; even if I don't get lynched today, with 2 guilty cop investigations on me against 1 innocent, I logically probably will get lynched or vigged eventually. That's why I didn't tell the truth earlier; I knew if I claimed to be a miller, I'd probably get lynched, even though it's true.

It's frustrating, because I decided to start building the space ship after Puzzle found me innocent, figuring that I probably wouldn't be investigated again. Bad luck I suppose.

Oh well. If you guys are going to lynch me, I wouldn't blame you; if there are still people left from both scum groups, ilynching me will probably cost the town the game, but meh, I'm probably dead either way at this point, so I don't really care.
You can help yourself through this Day by claiming your Barbarian alliance. If you're the right one, you'll make it through this Day, and may even have a shot at winning.

Heh..you know, I probably would have actually been better off lying and claiming to be a barbarian of the correct side then I am telling the truth.

Eh, oh well, you probably would not have believed me anyway.
Probably.

Enough of this crap. Akonas, you're full of it, and I'm calling you out on the BS that is constantly spewing from your posts concerning Yos and the Space Race.

I'm still waiting for Tyfo or his replacement to claim.

Astronaut... you are the civ! :D

We don't even need Tyfo, now. d_rouge is scummity scum scummy scum scum.
I
am Gilgamesh of the Sumerians, and now that I'm pretty confident we have all of our scum accounted for, I think we have this in the bag.

I'm maxed out on technology. I have two 100% roleblockers, and one 100% cop unit. :)

My only cop result was unfortunately on d8P last Night. I built a Radar unit or whatever the first Night I had modern technology, on the off-chance we might have two outed scum and I could start blocking. I have since built another Radar thingy.

I'm pretty certain Yos is our single scum left - I blocked him last Night, and we only had one kill.

I think we should lynch a player I'm pretty sure our Middle Eastern scum is, and that would be d_rouge. That way, if there
is
some deception going on, we can't be endgamed by a pair of scum.

Ok then.

As for our last scum, I have been debating between Astronaut and Kelly Chen. What I've read from Kelly Chen though has all but sealed the deal for me, especially
Kelly Chen wrote:Ok, I don't think Astronaut is scum. Sorry about that.

Between inHim and d_rouge I'm at a loss. They both seem rather protown to me. I wonder if inHim is bluffing about his capabilities so that he can get through to tomorrow.

I think Akonas has been winging it the whole game, though.

Vote: Akonas
This is a very non-commital post, and has (I think) a major flaw/tell. If KC didn't think Astronaut was scum, she'd certainly know for sure that Astro was receiving insane results, which should solidify me as scum - why wasn't she sure that I was scum if she doesn't think Astro is lying?
--------------------------------------------------------
Akonas wrote:What do you mean, I've been winging it the whole game? Why are you so fast to vote me-
when we're in lynch-or-lose?!?!??

And like I said, InHim is almost certainly lying. I haven't seen increases nearly great enough to be able to even approach InHim's supposed powers.
Given the stated results, I'm sure you're innocent, Akonas, but you need to think this through some more.
There are 4 eras total. Players start in the Ancient era, and can advance to the Medieval, Industrial and Modern Eras via night actions - instead of building a unit, you can advance one era. Each era has its own selection of units you can build - the more advanced the era, the more effective the units.
I advanced eras until I could do so no more (Modern). I did this because I generally live for a long time in these games, and I wanted to have units I knew I could count on when it came down to crunch time. I'm so confident about my outlook on this game because I do indeed have fully-functioning units. This game has been quite the bear, and knowing that I can single-handedly help the Town through this endgame process to a win probably made that post very matter-of-fact.

So, there you have it. Ask all the questions you want.

I'm actually more hoping to lynch a Middle Eastern barbarian, so that way there isn't any chance of us getting Endgamed. Regardless, we really need to lynch one of Yos, d_rouge, or, I'm pretty sure, KC.

That's some word twisting, scum - I did mention my roleblockers, although not as clear as

RB - Radar Artillery
Cop - Stealth Fighter

I believe my words before were along the lines of "Radar unit or whatever." You happy? Of course you're not... you are scum.

And the choices I have sent in are simply
Radar Artillery: Yosarian2
and
Stealth Fighter: d8P
- I hope that answers any question that you have.

It's very odd that you claim you didn't have to decide if you were going to block my cities or my units, inhim. Unless you're claiming that your unit could do both?

In any case, my build was not blocked last night, so at this point I'm going to have to assume you were lying.

Heh. It's the mod's fault then for not prompting me to choose one or the other.

I have been framed by a technicality. Yos2 and d_rouge are scum, and opposing at that. I still don't know for sure about KC or Astronaut.
