He had everyone completely fooled, used the mechanics to organize a masterful plan, ALL WHILE keeping the confirmed masons alive, just for a challenge. He seriously blew me away with his play this game.

His reads in multirole were great, but the reason he didn't go 3/3 were because he pretty much all out claimed vig, without doing so, knowing there was an incredibly high possibility of a scum rb.

The point is that a lot of people might have given up. Instead, he went on to very nearly win the game. Whether he won the game or not doesn't matter, what matters is that he did a phenomenal job where others might not have tried.

Read SitMOA. The first one. More proof he deserves it. It might seem like he didn't do much, but he was helping me out plenty, he just realized that he didn't need to do much ingame and milked that. Definitely wouldn't have won that if he hadn't played like he did. He's a smart kid.

- He's come a long way from when I first played with him.

Read his play in the Abandoned Prison Mafia.

Then read his play in Blackest Night Mafia.

It would not be a stretch to think those games were two completly different players. In Blackest Night he effectively used his role to detect multiple scum and despite pretty much claiming PR Day 1 he survived to the endgame. I think he's becoming a vastly underrated player.

- in that game Day 1 he correctly identified the one complete scum-team (and helped drive the lynch on their Godfather role).

The Town of Blackest Night Mafia

for

Best Performance Pro Town Team

- Successfully lynched scum players for five straight Days (Days 1 to 5) and vigged two more scum players. The Town completely destroyed the known original 9 scum roles by the Dawn of Day 6 and lost a 5 player endgame due to a Cult that was unknown at game's start.

The town didn't win because the game was broken. 5/5 scumlynches plus smart NA use and they still didn't win. How is that setup balanced?

I won't Nth MoI's because he had so much of an inherent advantage that I can't tell whether he actually won due to any merit of his own. In fact, I'm pretty sure RC only made that nom because in any not broken setup, if a CR had done what MoI did it would be an achievement. But town had no idea to even look for a cult until one just HAPPENED to die.

Eh, not to be mean but newbies don't really count. I replaced into a newbie game once knowing that I was replacing into a scum slot from reading the first three pages and won the game with no problem. Newbies tend to be influenced very easily.

Why not? I'm pretty sure they count for new player awards, why not other things? But seriously, he was awesome. His partner got lynched, with the person he replaced a close second, he shed almost all suspicion from him, just one guy who, though right, didn't have any reasoning to convince other people. Plus the whole thing how a couple hours after replacing, he RB'd the cop, and then lynched him.

My point is that all these things, while they would be exceptional in a normal game, just aren't really that hard in a newbie game. It's a fact, newbies are gullible. You claim doc and they all of a sudden consider you confirmed town.

Or, put differently, do we give one award for town PR play and one for scum PR play, or just one regardless of alignment?

Edit: The reason I ask is because I think that town PR play is considerably more difficult than scum PR play given that you generally don't have buddies to bounce ideas for targets off of and are generally at a significant knowledge disadvantage anyways.

I think that in general, town power roles would be more deserving of it, but if somebody did a great job, I don't see why scum shouldn't be eligible for it.

Well, if you wanted to amend bodyofwork, it could be a requirement when nominating the player to produce 3 (or more) games where you think that player displayed that quaility (scum hunting or manipulation) for the nomination to go through and be considered.

I think that will cause the number of nominations to drastically decrease. People generally come out of one game that really impresses them and then make the nomination. I like the idea of multiple nominations much better.
