A small but deadly criminal organization is terrorizing your innocent village (home of small, mostly defenseless newbies), and it's up to the nine of you to figure out whodunnit.

Of course, this would all be a lot easier if you weren't so sure that some of you haddunit. Two of you, in fact, though you're not sure who else is what. Here's the possibilities:
(a Mafia Goon) are part of the local Mafia crime family. Since your plot to quietly overtake the town has failed, you will attempt take it by force by eliminating the others until you outnumber the populace.
During the day, try to blend in with the normal Townies and attempt to get someone lynched.
During the NIGHT cycle ONLY, you may talk with your fellow Mafia (via QuickTopic, linked below) and choose another player in the town to kill that night.
One of you must send the moderator a PM with your choice of who to kill
and who is performing the kill
before the Night deadline.
The Mafia RoleCop has the ability to investigate another player and learn their specific role (Townie, Cop, Doc, or Jailkeeper).
One of you must send the moderator a PM with your choice of player that you want to investigate (usually along with the kill) before the Night deadline.
If the Mafia RoleCop is blocked by a Town Jailkeeper then the RoleCop will receive a PM stating “No Result”.
You may communicate privately via QuickTopic with your fellow Mafia up until the game thread is opened (this is called Night 0). Once the game begins, all outside communication must cease until the night cycle.
Please do not communicate with each other outside of the QT.
You win when the number of Mafia equals or exceeds the number of remaining Town players, whether you survive to the end or not.
You are a prison guard, and it’s your job to ensure the undesireables are kept in their place.
Each NIGHT, you may send the moderator a PM with your choice of player that you want to send to jail before the Night deadline.
If the jailed player attempts to use a Night action (Investigate, Protect, or Kill), their action will not resolve.
If the jailed player is the target of a Kill that action will not resolve. Any other actions (Investigate or Protect) will resolve.
Neither you nor your target will be made aware of whether your own action was successful.
You may not put yourself in jail.
At no time may you privately communicate with any other player.
You win when all the Mafia players are gone, whether you survive to the end or not.
Even though many games start with Night, Newbie Games begin with Day once everyone has confirmed that they understand their role. Scum are allowed to talk by PM in the pre-game stage, but no other "night actions" may be taken.
Rules:
Votes must be in bold for them to count, like this:
Vote: Bot
. Unvotes should also be bolded (
Unvote: Byte
) so that I can spot them easier, but it's not required.
A simple majority of votes (1/2 the number of living players plus one, rounded down) will achieve a lynch and end the Day. Unvoting after that point will not save someone's life. If deadline is reached (three weeks max) with no regular lynch, the required number of votes will be lowered.
Nights will last up to 72 hours, but may be shorter if all night choices are in before the deadline.
Dead men tell no tales. If you get killed, stop talking until the game is over
(a single "go <team>"-style post is fine)
.
Do not discuss this game with other players outside of this thread, unless your role PM specifically stated you could do so
(as scum, and then only at night)
.
Do not directly quote any PMs you receive; I have already posted the roles above, but this holds true for any future messages you receive from me as well.
If you see something you don't understand,
ASK!
Newbie games are here for people to learn and understand; either I or one of the other players will respond to your question. If it has to do with your role, feel free to PM me directly.
Treat this game as a commitment; if you're going to be gone for longer than 48 hours
(not counting weekends)
,
let us know
. I will replace severely inactive players, but your fellow players may choose to lynch you themselves first.
With nine alive, it will take five votes to lynch. In light of the large and late number of replacements, Day One's end has been extended to Monday, June 6th, at midnight.
As the day drew on toward a sweltering sunset, the town grew more and more restless. Eventually the crowd got too tired of waiting and strung up Ankamius from the highest tree they could find. After his feet stopped twitching, someone actually thought to go through his pockets. A quick search turned up a gun, severals wads of cash, and an untraceable cell phone.
Ankamius,
Mafia Goon
, has been lynched Day One.
It is now Night One; any/all Night Actions are due to me no later than the end of Thursday, June 9th.

Also, @ Mod

I would vastly prefer you play out the Day, at the least. We have already had a nearly 50% replacement rate, and every replacement slows down and confuses the game. If you still need it when N2 rolls around, I will see what I can do for endgame.
After much discussion and debate, the group decided to get rid of one of those 'quiet ones' you're always hearing so much about in crime reporting on the news. This time, however, it really was just the boy next door, nothing more.
jakesh97, Townie, was lynched Day Two.
It is now Night Two; any and all Night Actions are due to me no later than noon on Monday, June 27th
((expired on 2011-06-27 12:00:00))
.
I may dawn Day Three early if it will not compromise the integrity of the game
(everyone has been on site at least once and all choices are in early)

Workings in the night kept some of you more awake than others; while zMuffinMan felt he had done another good deed, his reward was nothing but a cold alley and a punctured lung. The evil work of criminal scum lives on...

Lack of available replacements right now is kind of ridiculous. So what I'll do is lower lynch threshold to 3 votes out of 5, since that's effectively what you're playing with.

Megatron hasn't voted all day - therefore removing his 'vote slot' from the count makes little difference to the game. If Kiwi hadn't unvoted, it would have been an instalynch, true, but I waited until that wouldn't have happened to decide to do this.6 players is a weird gamestate anyway since it boosts the 'majority' needed to the same as if you had 7.
I'm not doing it lightly, believe me... and with zero consideration for what role/alignment Megatron might have. With three days to deadline, it would be much more disruptive to reset all the votes.

Final Vote Count of Day Three:
Poiven - 3 (Korlash, Ant, Otolia)
Otolia - 1 (Poiven, Princess Kiwi)
Not Voting - Megatron
A dismal and dismayed crowd, brought down low from the initial success in killing one of the Mafia, dragged their feet to the makeshift gallows and stuck Poiven on it. When it was done, though, it was not all done after all...
Poiven, Townie, was lynched Day Three.
It is now Night Three; any and all night actions are due to me no later than the end of Tuesday, July 19th

Frustration... incompetence? How DARE the Captain accuse her of 'incompetence'. Just because he doesn't know what these dastardly criminals are capable of (and what some silly citizens can do to interfere with an ongoing investigation), it's no excuse to call her job performance into question. Racing home angrily from her work shift, Princess Kiwi didn't see the oil patch laid across the hairpin curve until it was much, much too late... police are calling the accident "suspicious" at this time.
Princess Kiwi,
Cop
, was killed Night Three.
It is now Day Four; with four alive, three votes will lynch.

Otolia, Townie, was lynched Day Four.
Ant,
Narcoleptic
Townie, was killed Night Four.
AurorusVox, Townie, was killed in the endgame.
Korlash, Mafia Rolecop, wins!
Ugh, this game... most apathetic town ever. Korlash basically walked all over you guys, sorry to say.
And no, Ant wasn't really a 'different' role, he was just so resistant to posting that I kept having to threaten to modkill him to get him to post ANYTHING. Once it came down to him or Otolia, I knew it was lost.
If you let one player control most of the dialogue, and that player is scum, you WILL lose to them. Korlash was the IC, true, but everyone just gave him a pass, 90% of the time.
AurorusVox actually believes Korlash's gambit, thus reducing the likely pool of lynchees to Ant/Otolia.
Otolia actually gets this, but nobody believes him because now he has a ~50% chance of being lying scum.
Ant points out - correctly - that there was no real motivation for him to quickhammer his buddy on Day One. Again, nobody's listening to the 50% scum anymore.
Otolia gives up due to impending V/LA, again daring people to vote him.
