But the scenario you posit (100 people and the scum are known to be among a selected 12) never comes up in the game of mafia, generally.Pooky wrote: The question posed was not as to whether this game of mafia was more like diagnostic medicine but mafia in general.
Obviously the evidential standard here is lower than in a criminal trial. It has to be.Pooky wrote: The obvious answer is that in Mafia, we do not need to prove guilt beyond any doubt, whereas you would need to show that in a court of law.
This is also true in diagnostic medicine, the doctors do not need to prove it is due to a specific disease or cause beyond any doubt, but rather can act on a fairly good guess.
You can apply my diagnostic medicine approach by lynching Shafted.
Now, you say the diagnostic medicine approach simply needs a "good guess". What determines a "good guess" from a "bad guess"?
Why is "pushing a shafted lynch without voting for him" FoSworthy and not voteworthy?JiveMachine wrote: FoS: Pooky for strongly pushing a shafted lynch without voting for him-

do you expect us to lynch him based on your hunch?Show"I hope one day I can openly play as wolfy as Pooky and get zero pressure for it grumble grumble."

"I can't even look at the game anymore.
That evil teddy bear has got everyone twirling by his thumb.
It's like witnessing an slow but unavoidable train crash you can't stop."

So first you wanted to lynch me but you couldn't reveal the reasons:
Then you stated that you may not even have any reasons:PookyTheMagicalBear wrote:What do you want me to contribute to this game other than who I think are scum?
I am not giving you my recipe for my special cookies.
they are age old family secret.
So which is it, do you have no reasons at all, or are they super top secret Dick Cheney level secret reasons?PookyTheMagicalBear wrote:In the field of diagnostic medicine, reasons are overrated.
The same is true of mafia.
Armlx much like Pooky you are basically claiming me as 100% scum without stating any evidence to back it up
Would you also care to elaborate your case. Could you also compare Jive's play to mine since you state that he's almost caught up with my obvious level of scuminess? I personally feel his play has been more erratic than my single lazy post. And he's also adjusting his actions (e.g. ratcheting up to a vote) after light pressure.armlx wrote:Wow, just when I thought we had hit max scummy, someone decides to make us have a decision. I'm sticking with my vote for Shaft right now, but Jive is rising to match his scumminess very quickly. Nice backtrack.-

Hence what I meant by nice back track.
Jive is fidgetting under pressure, lurking, flip flipping, and bandwagonning in was as to not leave traces on vote counts.
Your posts acted like they said something and just didn't, tried to press wagons, and especially your reaction to pressure for the first 4ish posts.Away Wednesday the 24th through the 31st-

What are you really asking me? ..actually, what are you trying to imply at this point in the game?TheJiveMachine wrote:
So you want to lynch someone on a hunch, despite the fact that myself, shafted, and (depending on who you ask) Pooky are acting identifiably scummy?curiouskarmadog wrote:I think he is scum...on a hunch.

At this point in the game, I'm implying that I found your post scummy, because you are fully supportive ofa lynch that your only reasoning for is a hunch? I think?-

Of coursevollkan wrote:Jive, for someone who is, by their own admission, "acting identifiably scummy" I find I perplexing that you aren't answering any of my questions...
...Oh wait, you're deflecting onto CKD - my mistake.
Anyways, I didn't initially vote for pooky because it would look like votehopping, which it basically was.-

it is. Why can't you pay attention to detail? Do you really think you can hack it in the medical world?-
