Vollkan, here's my counter arguement for you trying to shred my knowledge of scum tells. Go back and find me examples of people blatantly lying leading to them being town. What about repeated 3rd votes on wagons and other things that are typically scummy. I was under the impression over reaction was an established scum tell. At least it was last time I was playing.

It's terrible play, and scum tend to play a lot worse than town just for psycological reasons.

I guess I'd define it as stating suspicion of and/or actively pursuing individuals who you appear to genuinely believe are scum. By my definition, it basically amounts to "not lurking and not obviously faking it", which is why it's a point in a player's favour but not solid proof of innocence.

nothing short of a confirmed claim is solid proof of innocence. I would also add asking relevant informed questions to the definition of scum hunting.

I think I accidentally dropped the emphasis when I edited that last sentence before posting: I meant to stress that I thought it was a

fairly minor

point in favour, unless I feel confident that I can reliably tell whether a particular player is genuinely scumhunting or just trying to give the appearance.

I agree that asking good questions is part of scumhunting, I intended that to be included in the "actively pursuing" part of the definition.

My eyes are really freaked up tonight so I don't think I can type much but I just wanted to point out to Erg0 that I find most of the players on the LU to be at least mildly scummy.

I've explained Pooky in detail, haven't yet gotten to armlx but I think others have made a decent case. Then Dean is a chronic lurker (who may just need replacing) and Erg0 you were doing a fair bit of lurking yourself. I don't think lurking itself is incredibly scummy as long as people respond when pressured, but in this game if it is set up with 2 lynches per day lurking could be a very viable strategy. So TG is the only player on the LU I'm getting a townish read on and he has his own issues with his TJM voting pattern vs. pressure which seems to be inverted.

On my side of the isle I'm seeing CKD and vollkan playing as usual. As others have said vollkan as scum is difficult to detect, but as town he is a vital asset. He doesn't seem to be playing out of the ordinary. If CKD weren't playing confrontational and almost belligerent I'd be worried about him. But I do understand armlx to an extent. The first time I came acccross CKD I found his style a bit scummy. But it's across the board. And armlx has been banging his head against fairly small points in this regard. Adel is a wild card right now. Her play seems most likely town as scum playing in such a manner would have to have huge balls to attract as much attention as she did, but knowing her persona I wouldn't put it past her. However, nothing of her play seems opprotunistic thus far. TJM is all over the place, and nowhere at the same time. Before he disappeared he was looking very inconsistent and in my eyes scummy. In fact I'll go on record saying I would have hammered had the twist not gone into effect before I logged in. His disapperance has thrown me for a loop, but I get the feeling he is trying to avoid what happened earlier by just avoiding the thread entrirely.

Sorry if any of this is difficult to read. I honestly can't read very much of what I wrote because of my eyes at the moment. so it's not been proofread or previewed at all. Hope this doesn't get me into trouble again

It can be an established tell -

for some players

. What I am trying to get across to you is that there is no universal rule that emotion = scum. For some people, they might be more likely to get frustrated as scum, but for other it might be the opposite way round.

I would say it's most players that do get over reactive are scum, though not all players over react to begin with. Hence my attack on CKD.

Pooky might be scum with one of Shafted, Karma, or Adel - because they launched the game with distancing.

TrustGossip might be scum with one of Dean, Volkan, Adel -a gain early game distancing.

I don't like this sentence: " Early game I acted moderately scummy to draw responses, responded with a fairly detailed analysis based on my observations and some gut feelings on intangible things I had observed."
His player analysis is very superficial.
In his post 37, he goes deeper, but many of his opinions are the opposite of common sense.
I don't like the interaction with CKD, mainly because amrlx's reasons are poor, and CKD seems town.
He's berating lurkers, but forgiving Pooky for being his usual disruptive self. Double standards, I do not like.
