I was referring to my use of the word oppurtunistic. It is an unfair word when used unproperly, but I think it describes killa seven right now perfectly.

I think RossWilliam is town. His reactions are feeling genuine.

Unvote

I'm not sure what to make of killa seven. It's hardly opportunism, as the previous two people had just both agreed RW wasn't being scummy, but it's eyebrow-raising. I want to see more out of killa seven.

Yeah, the no-lynch vote is either a brilliant scum gambit, or a genuine newbie mistake.

Unvote, vote melodyman23.
I don't particularly like the "jump on the bandwagon, get told it was bad, and jump right back off" play.

...and suddenly the RW wagon disbands as quickly as it was formed. I really don't like the way TSN is jumping off so quickly and echoing other people's reasons. I think he is probably a good lynch candidate, but I think a better place for my vote now is

Vote: Phate
He obviously has been paying attention to the game, but choosing not to participate unless it's pointed out that he hasn't posted in awhile. Even then, he doesn't say much. He jumped on the RW bandwagon for no reason, and jumps off with a less-than-impressive excuse.

I jumped on RW as a tongue-in-cheek response to RW's request for bandwagons. I was hoping to provoke some responses or draw some opportunism. That mostly failed.

how am i opportunistic, i stated i didnt plan on voting you (atleast not yet), i pointed that out to get a reactin out of you to see how u would respond to get a better read on you, this game is really slow and there isnt much going on you had 4 votes on you and you had have to most attention on you i need to see how u would respond to critisism.

Do you think it was a scummy play or a newbie play from melodyman? Why does the no-lynch vote have to be a

brilliant cause it can get written off as a newbie mistake.

As far as I see it, the only place newbie mistakes can be afforded is in the road to roam forum. Out here in the real MS, I think Newbie mistakes have to be watched a bit more carefully.

Could have been a newbie play from melodyman too, but its one I find more disturbing than the no-lynch vote. I've never seen someone suggest no-lynch and not get voted, so it doesn't seem like a very smart play out of rw.

You are being called opportunistic for your post in 289, not later, where you ask rw why you shouldn't vote him, because he immediately 'jumped on' no lynch when the mod 'let him'. You stated that you didn't plan on voting rw in a later post. The rest of your explanation is pretty mediocre- you needed to see how he would respond to criticism? What/why? What does that mean?

thank you klebian. I hate when people use the excuse that they did it to get a reaction. That could be said about any move in this game, and so really ends up being moot as an excuse. For example...

Townie Tykeesha: Ah! Sisi! why did you lynch Unlucky Ursula before we finished discussing her?

Scummy Sisi: Uh.............to get a reaction?

Townie Tykeesha: Wow, Sisi. Wow.

that was a pretty stupid example... You can't boil a lynch down to one person plus that excuse isn't even plausable in a lynch situation.

But thats about the same reson I hate the attack "opprotunism" becuase it too becomes a moot point.

Not really.

Hypothetical situation: Player x is being bandwagoned. Player y votes 5th on the bandwagon and begins to tunnel in on him. The bandwagon dies down, despite y. Plyer z gets wagoned. Suddenly, player x starts tunneling on player z.

That's opportunism.

Hm, yeah, I seriously doubt anyone would try to use that as a hammer excuse. But, I think the point he's trying to make is that too many people are using that excuse to vote. I've made a similar argument recently, about the "discuss" thing.

Justin Playfair, have you had a chance to reread yet?

Or it's player X's playstyle to fuel wagons. God knows half the people on this site do it as often as they can. Or it's player X as a doc seeing another lynch happening and would rather it happen then he calim. Guess what... yeah... opprotunism =/= scum there does it? hence why it's a stupid and useless thing.

Most town, while they agree with the "take one for the team" thing, and while they care about the town more then themselves, they always have that self preservation, selfishness abotu them. No one wants to put effort into a game and then die.

And then you get some players who, jsut by knowing they are town and see they are about to be lynched, they stop at nothing to 'prevent a town death." Opprotunism is done both by scum and town on a very arguably equal basis. It has both pro-town, scum, and "luck" factors to it. To use the word "opprotunistic" as an attack is worthless and has no point to it. hence why I hate it!!!!!!

Also this has been another example that is totally stupid. What if player Z claimed scum? What is the case on player Z?

...
neko wrote:But, I think the point he's trying to make is that too many people are using that excuse to vote.
Now here is something I think has merit. Exactly who has so far used that excuss? And for the sake of those who have no tbeen following this, what excuss was it?

I'm also interested in how Justin's progress is fairing... Also hows MelodyMan... I know that is where my vote is so I guess I should know what his views on things are.

yes, the example was clumsy, i'm sorry, but you get my point for the most part. Korlash, I think oppurtunism can be used with validity in certain circumstances, killa seven being one of them. Overabundance of the word is certainly obnoxious. And I think it's very silly that we're arguing about this, I don't see how it's aiding the town

I agree. Which is why I'm trying to turn the disscussion over to what Neko said instead.

Then again, this is also my way of showing people not to try and use stupid examples to prove their point. Only i'm allowed to do that! hisssss....

I wasn't necessarily agreeing with him, just trying to possibly clarify what he said, since you seemed to have missed the point.

But, if you need an example:
Phate wrote: I was hoping to provoke some responses or draw some opportunism.
I personally don't see anything inherently scummy about this. What
I
have a problem with is when people vote for no reason (the "discuss" thing I mentioned earlier. What I like less is when, after being pressured for their reasonless vote, they still refuse to give a reason.

Whether Phate's reason here is any good is debatable, but at it's a reason nonetheless. Unfortunately, it still appears that he's only contributing enough to get by. He's given us something, but it's not much. When he starts contributing something significant/meaningful/helpful/etc., I'll consider moving my vote.

RossWilliams, while I agree, your post declaring that is useless to the town; in fact, I think a town complaining about inactivity (without actually doing anything about it) is more likely to make more people lurk.

Post an analysis! Vote a lurker! Stay silent! But don't complain about lack of content when you're not giving any.
