Your town was peaceful, until the mafia decided it shouldn't be anymore. Find the mafia and kill them all! If you're mafia, kill everyone who isn't!

Live Players:
  • (alive, *indicates IC player)

    *MiteyMouse*(rp. Lockheart)
    Scien,
    Mafia Goons
    , survive and win

    Dead:
    Droideka_11,
    Townie
    , lynched Day 1

    Jack Of Bombs,
    Doctor
    , killed Night 1

    The Many(rp. *Skruffs*(rp. Vesuvius)),
    Townie
    , lynched Day 2

    charlatan(rp. wake4me4life),
    Townie
    , killed Night 2

    fallen angel(rp. Mixologist),
    Townie
    , lynched Day 3

    *Zorblag*(rp. *Spolium*),
    Townie
    , endgamed

    Papa Zito(rp. dramonic),
    Townie
    , endgamed

This game uses the 9-player setup called F11, which consists of four possibilities:
  • 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 1 Doctor, 5 Townies.
  • 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 7 Townies.
  • 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Sane Cop, 6 Townies.
  • 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Doctor, 6 Townies.
One of these was chosen totally at random, as were all role assignments.

Of course, this would all be a lot easier if you weren't so sure that some of you haddunit. Two of you, in fact, though you're not sure who else is what. Here's the possibilities:

Mafia:
The Mod wrote:You are a , along with your partner _________ (who is simply a Goon). Your goal is to eliminate the pro-town players so that only your side remains; you win if this happens. During the Day, try to blend in with the rest of the players, and get someone lynched.

You may talk with your partner at Night, and send me a choice via PM of who you would like to kill/roleblock (your team can do both so long as you live).

Note: You may talk with your partner privately during confirmations to plan strategy, but no night actions will take place until Night One.
AND
The Mod wrote:You are a , along with your partner _________ (who is a pro-Mafia Roleblocker). Your goal is to eliminate the pro-town players so that only your side remains; you win if this happens. During the Day, try to blend in with the rest of the players, and get someone lynched.

You may talk with your partner at Night, and send me a choice via PM of who you would like to kill (if your partner also lives, they can send in a separate choice to roleblock someone).

Note: You may talk with your partner privately during confirmations to plan strategy, but no night actions will take place until Night One.
OR
The Mod wrote:You are a , along with your partner _________. Your goal is to eliminate the pro-town players so that only you remain; you win if this happens. During the Day, try to blend in with the rest of the players, and get someone lynched (if that someone is not your partner or yourself, that will make things much easier). You may talk with your partner when it is not Day, and send me a choice via PM of who you wish to kill.

Note: You may talk with your partner privately during confirmations to plan strategy, but no kills will happen until Night One.
Town:
The Mod wrote:You are the , and you can protect people from harm. Each Night, you may send me a choice via PM of who to protect; if they come under attack by the Mafia, they will live. You win if the scum are eliminated, so choose wisely at Night, and try to lynch correctly during the Day.

Note: Doctors are 100% effective in Newbie Games (the person you protect will never die on the night they are protected), unless you are roleblocked. You may not protect yourself.
The Mod wrote:You are the , and you can tell good from bad. Each Night, you may send a player's name to me; I will let you know if your investigation shows that they are Mafia or Town. You win if the scum are eliminated, so choose wisely at Night, and lynch well during the Day.

Note: Cops always get a correct result in Newbie Games (no sanity issues), unless you are roleblocked. You cannot investigate yourself.
The Mod wrote:You are a , and you've got no special powers at Night. No investigations, no protection, no gun to shoot people. Your only powers are the ability to post, vote, and think. Help lynch Mafia during the Day, and you will win the game, along with the rest of the Town.
Even though many games start with Night, Newbie Games begin with Day once everyone has confirmed that they understand their role. Scum are allowed to talk by PM in the pre-game stage, but no other "night actions" may be taken.

Rules:
  • Votes must be in bold for them to count, like this:
    Vote: mith
. Unvotes should also be bolded (
    Unvote: JEEP
) so that I can spot them easier, but unvoting is not required.
  • A simple majority of votes (1/2 the number of living players plus one, rounded down) will achieve a lynch and end the Day. Unvoting after that point will not save someone's life.
  • Deadlines are set for three weeks from the start of the day, and if deadline is reached without the required number of votes to lynch, no lynch will occur.
  • Nights will last up to 72 hours, but may be shorter if all night choices are in before the deadline.
  • Dead men tell no tales. If you get killed, stop talking until the game is over.
  • Do not discuss this game with other players outside of this thread, unless your role PM specifically stated you could do so (as scum, and then only at night).
  • Do not directly quote any PMs you receive; I have already posted the roles above, but this holds true for any future messages you receive from me as well.
  • If you see something you don't understand,
    ASK!
Newbie games are here for people to learn and understand; either I or one of the other players will respond to your question. If it has to do with your role, feel free to PM me directly.
  • Treat this game as a commitment; if you're going to be gone for longer than 48 hours (not counting weekends),
    let us know
. I will prod players who do not post for 5 days and will replace severely inactive players, but your fellow players may choose to lynch you themselves first.
  • Any action which would be illegal to
    actually do
    is also illegal to
    fake
    (for example, posting a
    made-up
PM that shows a Cop result of guilty/innocent).
  • Have fun; don't be stupid;
    participate
    !

For those curious, I grabbed Spolium for an IC replacement for Skruffs, who hadn't confirmed.

Everyone has now confirmed, and with 9 alive, it take 5 to lynch. Deadline is June 15th.

*Whistle*

Kind of quiet in here. I guess its just because of the holiday weekend.

While we wait for everyone to show up, I have some questions for people while we wait. Some with substance, most without >.<

Wake4me4life:
No random vote? Did you just not place one or do you prefer to not engage in any kind of random voting at day start?

Jack of Bombs:
Wow, never had heard about Herculaneum. I feel uneducated. I suppose Pompeii gets all the press though. What the heck is your avatar doing anyway?

Lockheart:
Yep, there seems to be a lot of Deathnote going around these days. I assume the quote you are talking about is his sig? Or did I miss something this early?

Jack of Bombs, actually my name refers to the Rainn Wilson movie "The Rocker". But I suppose that point is moot.

Vote: Jack of Bombs

And I think Scien is right. You have to explain your avatar.

Salutations! I will be your IC for this game (the only one, it seems :(). If you don't know what an IC does, there is a handy description on the Mafiascum wiki. I will do my utmost to address any and all questions, but [disclaimer]I am but one person with my own opinions, and these may not necessarily reflect those of others[/disclaimer].

While we are on the topic of experience, it would be most appreciated if everyone were to briefly describe their mafia experience in their next post.

Ok goooo

Spolium wrote:It would be most appreciated if everyone were to briefly describe their mafia experience in their next post.
Hmm. This would be my third game. The other two games that I have played were both on this site, I think I have links to them in my wiki. They were both newbie games that happened to have the same setup. In one, we came back for an epic town win in end game. In the other, town lost due to epic fail mainly from me.

In my defense in the last one, there was a very suspicious cop claim and upon further questioning the suspicion only grew. Combining that with excellent play from one of the scum players (people where mentioning a possible scummie award) set up the town for a loss, and me to lead them there >.< Sorry more than you wanted I am sure. But I still feel a bit bad about that one.

I signed up for this game as an SE, due to my two games. I think the way the newbie queue looks like now (1 IC, 1 SE, and 7 new guys) I might be like a mini IC? I don't know if I have the gonads to call myself that though.

How about yourself. You're an IC so you have experience backing you up, what does that experience consist of? Besides all that, it looks like you might be the type that disdains random voting? I suppose it doesn't matter, since the only benefit from that stage is starting discussion, and questions like yours serve the same purpose. Just get to know you a bit, what are your feelings on the random stage of the game?

Yes.

The first thing I thought when I read Death Note was that it was totally like Mafia except, well... it was bad people who were dying :D

I learned how to play mafia one summer during camp. Played it a couple dozen times outside of camp with some friends. I've also tried playing it a few times in online games and this is the first time I've ever played it on a forum. I hope it'll be a fun experience for me :P

Immersed in several ongoing games at the moment here. Played in several games off-site a few years ago. Have designed a few games also.
Wretched excess is an unfortunate human trait that turns a perfectly good idea such as Christmas into a frenzy of last-minute shopping-or attaches the name of St. Patrick to the day of the year that bartenders fear most.
