Genocide: That would mean, what, Beelzebub / Satan / Ligur / Hastur as one, Death / War / Famine / Pollution as another, and God / Metatron as the third? Sounds about right.

Also, I figure the Them are a Mason group, and as such unlikely to have a kill. I can't figure out where the last kill came from.

If I were making the forces of good as a scum group, I would put Metatron alone, and have him be a serial killer that appears good to investigation.

Also, I think it unlikely that Adam, at least, is powerless, given that he
battled Satan.

I agree with LC; I think the Them are probably like a pro-town or neutral mason group with some special powers.

I agree with Aelyn's mafia group ideas except for one thing:
Polotet wrote:Almost every character on the cast list in Good Omens will be included in the game. Only two will be omitted. Of course, that doesn't mean only characters on the cast list will be included. The cast list will be posted below to aid the bookless.
My guesses for characters left out: God, Satan, Agnes, or Dog. If God and/or Satan are left out, then the supposed mafia would be cut down a little (which seems a bit more logical, as 1/3 of the players being scum seems like kind of a lot). Plus, God, Satan, or Agnes would all be extremely easy to make overpowered.

My guesses for the kills:
Burning: Forces of Heaven or Hell (possibly a Witchfinder, but not likely).
Malnutrition: Famine/Horsepersons
Bike: Misguided vigilante? If not, maybe a strange SK.
Unknown cause: Forces of Hell or Heaven.

I suppose it's possible that any of the kills was someone not on the list, but I can't think of anything specific from the book that would make sense with any of these deaths.

Which is why I return to the notion that this might have been IS. It fits both the characters and the player we know held that character.
It takes a village to raise a lynch mob.

Fuldu, IS may seem misguided in his voting, but he's not the sort that would make a night 1 vig kill. At least, not in any game I've seen.

Regarding the setup, if it's really 4/4/2, this should be an easy win for the town, barring some really strong powers in the groups. Until we have more info though, I'll give a
VGOMS
to those suggesting it; while it perhaps makes sense story-wise, it's terrible for balance. Thus, we might have some scum suggesting they are weaker than they are.

Hello everyone!
SinisterOverlord wrote:Hmm.

Hm. Thought. It is possible, however, that any number of groups could be scum. The forces of Hell being scum is probable, but by no means certain. The horsemen being scum is even more probable - especially in light of the starvation death.

Given the text at the beginning, I'd say the measure of whether a faction is pro-'town' or anti-'town' can be gagued by simply asking: Do they want to bring about the end of the world? Scum do and town don't, I think.

I haven't read the books in a few years. But, I'm thinking we have multiple scum factions, maybe even three. In order of probability: Apocalyptic Horsepersons (Death, War, Famine, Pollution), Forces of Hell, (Satan, Beelzebub, Hastur, Ligur), Forces of Heaven (God, Metatron). I left Aziraphale and Crowley off as, if I recall correctly, they don't want the end of the world.

The Witchfinders make me nervous, given that there's three of them and one in charge, which I believe is the most common setup for a scum group. And, the burning death fits. But, vigilante-group fits as well, so I'm not thinking they're likely scum.

Them. Given that it wouldn't be the first time the good protagonists have been evil in a game of mafia, I'm not discounting the possibility of them being scum. But, for now I'll stick with the normal assumption - that they're pro-town. Especially given their active role in the prevention of the end of the world.

Phew. Now to actually find the book again, to make sure I didn't just spit out a load of garbage.
Since I have not yet read the book, I will quote this person and say that I agree with his deductions the most. Unfortunately this discussion is going over my head, so I will try read at least some of it tonight.

Wow. I totally missed that.

Still, it looks like we have weird scum numbers.

Maybe all three of the groups are together? If both omitted characters were supernaturals (God and Satan?) that would give a single mafia group of eight.

Also, what's VGMOS?

Huh, I assumed the characters not in the game were the two dead ones (Thou-shalt-not-commit-adultery Pulsifer and Agnes Device), or perhaps Pulsifer and Dog (given that Agnes does have an influence on today, unlike Pulsifer)

That first statement sounds reasonable, the second not so much. I might almost suspect Dog and Adam to be masons.

VGOMs is an acronym for volumetric-gravimetric-oscillometric methods.

VGMOS is the signal at the input and VA is the signal at the output of the pentode.

Can't help you on what either of these means or why mith plans to give them to certain people.

I'm not going to take a guess at the possible killing groups, tough I doubt a vigi kill was made this night.

Time for a random vote I guess. To spare some time (as we need 15 for a lynch) I only included those who already have a vote in the random thingy.

Unvote, Vote: mepmuff

"Random" votes *possibly* avoiding players with votes is one thing. Deliberately avoiding those without votes to hurry a lynch is worse.

Particularly when it's me.

Seriously guys, we're three pages in, and we're still doing random votes? Nonsense.

This is randomly bandwagoning. It's similar to bandwagoning since they're both stupid, but also different from bandwagoning because it's even more stupid.

Well, sorry for not speaking much, but my reason is that I haven't read the book, and you are speculating about who's mafia, so I can't really help in the discussion. Two things I can say:

To Mith: IS does use vigi kill night one, or so I've heard. The only time I've seen it happen is on an ongoing game, and I really don't know if it actually happened or not, but I'm assuming it did. I could go back and see other games he played as vigilante, but that would take too long.

To the rest: is there a character that makes up acronims and expect the rest to know what they mean?

Nothing to contribute here. If there is an online copy or download of the book, someone kindly point it out to me.

Aelyn's suggestions on possible mafia do make sense to me though.
