Most of the games I've designed with zorotter have been mechanic madness, not role madness. I agree that standardization is a big priority for him. With that said, I'm curious to know (because I didn't look at the time) what it was zoraster changed in the rules after Quilford made his claim.
But the point in question is more a mechanics question in my opinion (roles resolving outside their stated resolution order. The fact that there is a stated resolution order is the kicker.

In post 1123, jasonT1981 wrote:I believe Glowball is now just trying to stall the game by trying to go over things already established to hold up a lynch.
Which lynch do you think he is trying to hold up?

A question for
Quilford
(and I fully recognize this isn't going to go anywhere today): why did you claim your one shot tracking ability when you did? Needless to say I am a little skeptical of the chronology of your tracking claim and the "now I have role related reasons" because you originally said you "doubted the motives of tracking Reck" and voted Llamarble then unvoted him to vote Ghostlin based on some sidebar with CES. If I counted correctly, prior to your unvote of Llamarble the vote count was Llamarble at 5 and Ghostlin at 3. For someone who has role related reasons for thinking Llamarble was scum you sure don't take a lot of convincing to jump to a lesser wagon.

Furthermore, the fact that VP claimed to be RBed shouldn't change your opinion of Llamarble if you didn't think two tracking abilities would be of the same alignment. From your alleged town perspective and being suspicious of two tracking abilities being of the same alignment you would think he is scum; or, prior to VP saying he was RBed Llamarble was fake claiming the tracking ability which would also be scum motivated. The fact that you so easily switched votes to a less viable wagon with all this in mind is highly suspicious.
I only read quote walls.

The census taker ability doesn't need to resolve before the nightkill for Quilford's result to make sense; it just needs to give him information about an earlier point in time. It seems like a valid way of running a census taker role to me.

Why?

I come from a computer programming background, so that's how I read the order of events. Zoraster confirmed for me that events resolve at their appropriate time (at least as far as my example goes), and don't happen at the start and then go into a "holding pattern" until they resolve. If they did, then in the example I gave in the linked post, the SK's kill
would
go through. But since it doesn't, that means it's looking at the "current" state of things when it resolves. So why would an investigative role return results from a "non-current" state of things?

I can't see census taker defined any way other than "Investigative". It comes last, so it should be showing the results at that time.

Do you think that if there were, say, a role which flipped alignments, that a cop's results would show the pre-flip result rather than the post-flip result, with Miscellaneous coming before Investigative?

And again, this line of thought has a valid point, since no error in moderation has been announced. Even if it was filed under Miscellaneous, it wouldn't make a difference.

On the other hand, seeing SK kills explicitly listed in the resolution order reminds me of how much I would rather lynch VP Baltar Tomorrow.

To answer your next question, no, I don't have a concrete excuse to lynch Quilford based on his claim.
Or as certain players would say, "because GUT! >=D".

2 quick points, saulres:
1) the Census Taker role doesn't care for current information, so a Mod obviously has more freedom there
2) Census Taker is not Investigative (in fact, the category Zor uses is called "Investigations" which makes it even clearer); a Census Taker isn't fooled by Godfathers, Millers, Framers or Lawyers.

So now I'm going to make a flavour argument: what does an Census Taker do during the Night? I would imagine he either asks some Oracle the amount of scum, town and third-party in the game (e.g. at the end of D1) and the Oracle tells him or he tricks people into taking an online poll during the Night from which then deduces said information himself, in which case incorporating that Night's nightkill into the results seems somewhat unnatural.

Okay, I've reviewed the case KK put against Ghost and while I'm not convinced based on that, I decided to ISO Ghostlin to see what scumminess I could find.

Near as I can tell, yesterday he didn't really do much. At best it looks like active lurking, but that seems to be endemic to this game, unfortunately.

So then I continue through the ISO but hit a wall when I hit this:

In post 747, Ghostlin wrote:I spent a sizeable amount of time going Llam/Jason are scum yesterday

...

You did? I just read your ISO, and I don't remember that. Let's see.

194: Your two scumreads were Lew and Llama. Llama for "Has contributed zero to town and all he's really done is restate the obvious." (Which is kind of what I was thinking about your ISO, really.)

Then we have:

In post 431, Ghostlin wrote:I would not mind the Llam wagon

Well duh, if he's your second of two scumreads I wouldn't expect you to mind it. I'd think you'd
want
it, actually.

Next is, um, well -- nope, that's it for Llama. Let's see about Jason.

In post 431, Ghostlin wrote:Jason, Amrun, and CES are all very content to let a scummy player with a Vig claim, no matter how limited; do whatever he wants tonight. Noted. It's quite likely one of these players is scum.

Okay, that's good, that's calling him 1 of 3 likely scum.

Six posts later (your very next one):

In post 437, Ghostlin wrote:I'm deciding if Jason's stupid or scum

Ah, so you weren't sure. Okay, let's see where you decided that Jason was indeed scum, and spent time going after him.

Looking...

Looking...

Looking...

Nope, that's it. That's the last you said about him.

Wow, you sure
did
spend a "sizeable amount of time going Llam/Jason are scum yesterday"!

If it weren't a hammer vote without a claim I'd put one on you. Your V/LA's over, get back here and claim or I'll hammer you at dead-- oh crap, I miscalculated. I won't be available at deadline, I'll only be available until about an hour before it.

Screw it.

Vote: Ghostlin

Llama, we're in twilight. That's your cue to post up a storm! :D

Ghostlin, the Mafia Owner of Jasper the Ninja Cat, was Lynched

Spoiler: Ghostlin
GhostlinWelcome to
Animal Rescue: petsPick
. You are MAFIA. Your goal is to kill all the owners and take their animals to a safe, no kill paradise you call Petvana.

You had always felt like there was something missing in your life. And you had always wanted a pet, so you decided to travel to the Mafiascum Humane Society. When you arrived, you looked around. There were lots of adorable animals deserving of a home – and you knew that of those you couldn’t take some would meet a miserable fate – but there was one there that you saw and immediately knew: it was the one.

When you brought it home, you realized something. This was no ordinary animal. No, this was special:

Animal Description

Image

When you get Jasper back to your place, you realize that despite being so sweet, he’s black as night. So black it’s hard to see him when he sits in a dark closet. That can be to his detriment sometimes, but you think you can find a use for it!

Role Information

Jasper acts as a
Ninja
. When carrying out the night kill, you will not be seen by trackers or watchers. When carrying out a kill, you may indicate who you want a tracker to see you go to instead (or just to see you not go somewhere).

Faction Information

Your faction wins when all threats to it are removed or nothing can prevent that from happening. Your faction has a single night kill. Any of your members may carry it out. Night kill submissions
must be PMed to Zoraster
. Any member of the mafia may PM the mod with all or any of the mafia actions.

You have day talk that you may use at any time here: http://www.quicktopic.com/XX/X/FakeQT

No confirmation stage. Just post within the first 48 hours of the game or you will be replaced.

The thread may be found here

All Night Actions are due by Wednesday at 11:00 AM EST.

When you restore it, could you make one small modification?

In my last vote of the game, could you change it to
Vote: Kublai Khan
?
