Newbie 152 - Game Over
Welcome to newbie game 152! To keep this simple this game has no special theme. The basic story applies: Evil mafia members have infiltrated this small town. It's up to you guys to figure out who those mafia members are! Unless you are one of them, of course. In that case you can simply go on a killing spree .Last edited by Flying Dutchman on Wed Nov 30, 2005 8:45 am, edited 8 times in total.-

: (stolen from MeMe)The Rules- Votes must be in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
- Please be attentive and unvote, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is notrequired, but I’d appreciate it.
- Executions will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. You may vote: no lynch– majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
- The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.
- Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing.
- Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts
- Don’t quote any PMs from me.
- If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, tough! No choice will be made.
- If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread.Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
- Remember, it’s a game. It’s supposed to played. It’s supposed to be fun. Do your part.

The Setup
One of the following four set-ups has been randomly selected and will be used for this game:
a) 2 mafia, 1 cop, 1 doc, 3 townies
b) 2 mafia, 1 cop, 4 townies
c) 2 mafia, 1 doc, 4 townies
d) 2 mafia, 5 townies
Possible role PMs:
You are the town's cop.
Each "night" you can submit the name of one other player to me by PM. I will tell you whether that player is mafia or not.
Please remember that you are not allowed to communicate with any of the other players outside the thread about this game.
You win when the mafia are dead.
______________
You are the town's doc.
Each "night" you can submit the name of one other player to me by PM. That player will survive if the mafia tries to kill him that night. You are not allowed to select yourself to be protected.
Please remember that you are not allowed to communicate with any of the other players outside the thread about this game.
You win when the mafia are dead.
______________
You are a townie.
You are just a simple citizen, trying to figure out who is mafia and who is not. You do not have any special night ability.
Please remember that you are not allowed to communicate with any of the other players outside the thread about this game.
You win when the mafia are dead.
______________
You are a mafia member.
Each "night" you and your partner, XXX, can try to kill one other player. Either of you can submit the name by PM to me.
You are allowed to talk to your partner by PM during the "night". You may not talk to him/her during the "day", nor may you talk to any other player in the game.
The two of you win when all other players are dead.
______________
Note 1: In most games, set-ups are not known before the game starts. Here the set-up is known because it's a newbie game and we want to keep things understandable.
Note 2: Also most other games start with a "night" phase, so mafia members can kill and cops can investigate before there is a chance to discuss. To make sure every newbie survives untill day 1 (so he has a chance to speak, vote, and play the game) this first night phase is now skipped.-

Hi everybody, and welcome to mafiascum. If you have any questions feel free to ask either FlyingDutchman via pm, or one of the inexperienced challenged (Me, Ibaesha, or Narninian).
As an inexperienced challenged, I'm suppose to introduce common phrases, like OMGUS (short for "Oh My God, you suck!", often used when voting people in response to being voted).Tyfo wrote:Not-random-at-allvote: Thok- only because it is the shortest name besides me.
But I don't want to do that right now, so I'll justvote Marbak-

I was kind of wondering what we'd do at this point. So instead of Marback having two votes, now Kiarlea does. Not too much of a change in circumstance really, but hopefully it'll move things along. So far no one has made any usual newbie mistakes for us to pick apart and discuss, nor asked any questions. Maybe our newbies aren't that newbie-ish. But we haven't gotten very far yet, either.
I suppose I'll mention another acronym. FOS stands for Finger of Suspicion. FOSes are used when you find someone suspicious but aren't ready to vote for them for whatever reason.-

Hmmm...
Thok changed his vote at an odd time. As ibaesha says, it's "Not too much of a change in circumstance".
Here's what I think: Thok (whom I think may be Mafia) picks Marbak (his partner) to get things moving. But, when Narninian Votes Marbak, Thok decides that he does not want his partner lynched. So he quickly switches to Kiarlea.
unvote: Tyfo, Vote:ThokSig? What's that? It's what I'm typing right now???????

I will point out that scum voting each other has gotten to be such a "scum tell" in newbie games that I would specifically advise my scum partner not to do this. (Of course, I'll let ibaesha or Narninian explain why that is a WIFOM argument and what WIFOM means).
I'm also experienced enough not to panic about a (hypothetical) partner having two votes on them-they stil would need two more votes to be lynched. (Although again, this is WIFOM).-

As mentioned, 2 votes is hardly a lynch, particularly with 5 needed. Just throwing out your vote because of some perceived "tell" (especially a flimsy one), seems a bit over aggressive.-

No, but someone with two votes has a much greater chance to get lynched than someone with one vote. I really don't see any point to changing the vote besides what I said. Now, he could simply have been "trying to move the game along". I'm not saying he's Mafia no matter what. But that looks strange to me.Marbak wrote:
