I don't think the NPCs have to strong an effect on us or at least one that is easily visible. But it would be nice to have an idea if we have to worry about them being a threat.

I'm not convinced by the idea of killing NPCs (though from a look at the player list, if any are scum then Don Mezzocio is).

I just don't see anything yet. I'm sure something will show up but I think it would be strange if they could night kill us at least that would give us a reason to lynch them.

They must serve some sort of purpose, and I am guessing it is relatively large. What else could take Primate so long in getting it up and running?

It is not random if you give a reason. Why did you call it random?

The idea of there being all these NPCs is really neat, and it makes me glad I randomly signed up for this game. I'm not sure how much we can figure out about their purpose with the limited information we currently have, but it certainly does give us something to talk about.

FoS: Primate

The NPC thing makes me wonder. I judge scum by their posts and by their votes. If the NPCs neither post nor vote... how are we supposed to figure out their alignments?

Mod, could you give us a quick summary of what the NPCs will and will not do? IE post, vote, etc. Perhaps every page or so you could list what the NPCs think of current players and events, or briefly summarise their opinion, or evs.
I will fuck up your name and gender. Deal with it.

PM me to replace into Infection Mafia, a semi-open Mini Theme.

Why on earth are you pointing a finger of suspicion at the mod!!

One way we can find out what the NPC's do is by lynching them, however it seems it may be best to ignore them and see what develops.

I think we should treat them like you would a claimed power role. That is, watch them carefully but focus on the others for now.

Phate, you must read mod rule 8, the greatest of them all.

Ah, well. Worth a shot.

Theopor - everyone knows running a game with NPCs is a major scumtell.

Just to table it for discussion, I am not saying we should just jump up and do this, nor am I saying I support this yet, but we could just lynch one of the NPC's. It has the potential to eliminate a lot of future confusion, but with the side effect of the possibility that we accidentally killed someone who was important.

I thought about it, and I don't really like the idea of lynching NPCs. If the ratio of scum NPCs to town NPCS is similar to the ratio of scum to town, lynching an NPC is equivalent to lynching randomly - i.e. likely to be detrimental to town.

I definitely disagree with lynching an npc until we see what affect they have on the game.

Guys I have a few issues accessing the site, hence posting will be sporadic. Sorry.

Shouldn't need replacing but it's unlikely that I'll be able to post every day.

In other news I don't really know the best way to deal with the NPC's, I'm really not sure. Lynching one I guess would tell us something but I think I'd probably only prefer that only to a no-lynch today.

I agree with theo. The only reason I would want to lynch an NPC is if the only other option is a no-lynch. Which it's not. So I say we proceed like a normal game, atleast for day 1.

I disagree, a random vote IMO is a vote made without any substance behind it & designed to aid conversation.

WRT lynching NPC,s I agree with #41, in that it would be essentially a random lynch. I can't see how something/someone won't present themselves throughout the course of the day that would be preferable, rather than a quick _info_ lynch rightnow.

So... yeah. How 'bout them Tigers?

I'm going to echo what everyone else is saying and vote NO on the Day 1 killing of NPCs. My intuition tells me that there aren't going to be (m)any Mafia NPCs, because they would have to vote with the Mafia and I don't think that's Primate's style. I also opine that there is at LEAST one unaligned NPC, and (s)he/they might very well fill the SK role.

Regarding lynches, also echoing other people, I'd say PC>NPC>random>none.

Groinhammer, what is WRT?

So... yeah. I vote all the scum claim right now.

Surely asking for a scum claim at this stage is scummy in itself

Also, maybe we get a 'lynch/no lynch NPCs at this stage' votecount - actually do we need to, I think that's pretty much everyone innit?
