What was that quote?

The Kingdom of Conscience will be exactly as it is now. Moralists don't really *have* beliefs. Sometimes they stumble on one, like on a child's toy left on the carpet. The toy must be put away immediately. And the child reprimanded. Centrism isn't change -- not even incremental change. It is *control*. Over yourself and the world. Exercise it. Look up at the sky, at the dark shapes of Coalition airships hanging there. Ask yourself: is there something sinister in moralism? And then answer: no. God is in his heaven. Everything is normal on Earth.

I.e., I am the one constant in the universe. Though, I actually thought I managed not to collapse in on myself like a black hole on entry.

my day 2 was terrible, and it's hard to explain why I reached the point of fatalism so quickly.

I largely agree with FF about post game eval.

There's a tendency to omgus when being suspected or being placed back into the suspect pool. There's that sense of a loss of control.
Eventually you get a fairly good idea at which players are genuinely evaluating and reevaluating people and which players aren't. It was a town tell that FF was suspecting everyone, she was just doing her due diligence. I'm not sure if I would call it a mistake that she ruffled feathers. Or how she could have maneuvered to avoid that.

I could have done a more methodical initial catch-up instead of going 50 directions at once after I replaced in. I let the 48 hour deadline and the possibility that the thread was going to continue to move slowly get to me. I wanted to put thoughts into the thread and try to draw players into posting more.

my execution was chaotic.

I think part of my issue was the thread going from "unbearably slow" to "so much being put out there that I could not possibly respond to it all." And I thought it was all coming from the scum team, so I started to feel like I was being overwhelmed.

If Egix and Ivy were posting 50% as much as I was, then I think I could have accepted me not responding to it all, because the "town team" was responding to it collectively. But I felt like I was in a position, where it was respond to every point being made by both fferylly and unwnd, or just surrender control of the narrative to the scum team. And I did not like either of those options.

I'm sorry I made you feel overwhelmed. I was kinda feeling overwhelmed, too, but not for the same reasons -- like I needed to get my thoughts out there, needed to some how shine a huge town light into the sky that others could recognize, or be the game losing miselim.

I think that it is partly my fault tbh. I think I was trying so hard to reply to as much as I could, that I was giving you more to reply to/think about. I think the harder I tried to fill my desire to "respond to every point that is being made" the more I was exasperating the problem.

I think I need to more carefully choose what I respond to, and what I leave on the table.

Choosing your battles is a good idea, in general, for any alignment.

You (and Demainer on day 2) kept at me at times to answer questions that I saw no point to answering because I felt like the premises were too flawed to take seriously. I'd reply with something I thought was more relevant or useful than an answer to your actual questions and that would make you think I was trying to avoid the questions, which generated more posts for me to respond to, on top of the analysis I was trying to do and document.

I could have handled that better, and usually do handle it better. Very much my bad.

I don't think egix was saying that, though I could be wrong. he switched to scumreading you, but I'm not sure who he was planning to vote.
I would've voted Luke. But I wanted to wait because I was about to go to sleep, and wanted to let there be a cross vote first.
It's funny because I actually had a random thought while eating dinner that the team could be Bellslot+Ivy, but, being the introvert that I am, I didn't let it out in time :(

I think that the point you made in post 313, I ended up taking to the extreme. She seemed to be struggling to the point that I started finding it hard to believe she had a partner. Turns out her partner was just literally not responding to her in the mafia chat :dead:

GGs everyone!

Sorry Luke. I dunno if WIFOM is the right term to use here but I was definitely on the wrong side of it when looking at your posts; I just didn't know what to think.

Oof. Correctly identified all three townies as potential maf ofc.

I'll give mafia a couple more tries maybe. I know my play was bad throughout; I could have pressured more, asked more questions, interacted with others more amongst other things... but I also learned a lot. I definitely underestimated the 10-day duration of D1 compared to what I was used to (48h days and 24h nights).

Thanks as well to you, Bell & unwnd for subbing in. Also your Terms of Art was an interesting read!

Thanks!

This wasn't an easy game to figure out; don't feel bad. I feel like it should have been easy to get bell/unwnd elimmed on day 3, but the prospect of day 4 had me so freaked that I really didn't put in the effort to get that elim that I should have. I also felt like taking the reins and trying to do that when we had an engaged confirmed town player might wind up splitting town even further (whoever the 3rd town turned out to be).

Every game's a learning experience, and sometimes I have to relearn stuff where, from experience, I should know better. This was one of those games for me.
