Newbie 892 - The Future of Magic.
Welcome to Riverside Village homeland of Hayl, a young sorceress whose future is uncertain at present. You see, ever they arrived in the village, there have been deaths; aweful ones. And it is the innocents who suffer.
Once a night, for the past month, people had been turning up dead in the village square. There were rumours flying around, rumours that they mafia had finally managed to infiltrate the village people. Two people amongst you are traitors, members of the mafia, those who have been commiting the recent murderous acts.
It is up to you, future sorcerers, potential students at The Temple (The most prestigious school of magic in the world) to work out and destroy those who are causing such heartache within the Village.
It is up to you 9 to save the village and possibly the future of magic itself.

Haylen's Rules (Cross referenced with Incognito and Vi's rules to makes sure she got everything.)
During the Day...
1.
The game is a Day Start.
2.
You must bold your votes as such
Vote: Battle Mage
, please put the unvote where I can see it though, at the bottom of the post preferably. Unvoting makes me happy, but isn't completely necessary.
3.
Each Day will have a deadline of 3 weeks, not reaching a majority of votes during that time will result in a no lynch. I may extend the deadline in special circumstances. I may also reduce the deadline by one day each time if activity does not pick up. Don't lurk. Lurking makes me sad
4.
Mafia may not speak to each other during the day, lest you be smited.
5.
You may not quote your role PM's or any other communication outside thread, with the mod. Lest you be smited.
6.
I don't like cheaters.
(a)
Anybody who is found to be using invisible text, spoiler tags or anything as such will be smited unless they have an extremely good reason. Not knowing is not a good reason.
(b)
If you have the power to edit yours or anyone elses posts. Dont. Lest you be smited.
7.
If you do not post within 72 hrs, you will receive a prod. Failure to response to the prod within 72 hrs will result in an automatic replacement. Three prods with result in an automatic replacement aswell.
8.
If you don't post for a whole game day, you'll be forcibly replaced.
During Twilight
1.
Votes and unvotes will not be counted after a lynch.
2.
The person lynched may still talk during Twilight.
4. Mafia still can't talk during this time.
During the Night Phase
1.
The Night Phase will last 72 hrs. I like this number. Any actions that have not been received by then will be forgone. (Night may end early if all actions are received)
2.
If your role permits it, you may talk to the players I have given you permission to talk to during the night.
3.
Mafia, whoever sends in the kill, don't try and kill your partners, I will not be messed with.
4.
Don't try and impersonate the mafia by sending me fake action PM's, I will not appreciate it, and you will be smited.
General Rules
1.
I will not accept insulting behaviour in my games, anybody doing so will receive a nice, well worded warning from me in thread. Further breaking of the rule will receive a harsher punishment.
2.
Blue is my colour. Dont use any kind of blue in your posts, I will count it as impersonating the mod and you will be smited. Sometimes I like to edit your posts, if I do I'll use my colour.
3.
Never talk to anybody outside the game except if your role permits it, and I have told you you can talk now.
4.
Don't piss off the mod. You will be smited.
5.
If you think you have found a loophole with my rules, you haven't. I will recognise a loophole breakage and punish you accordingly.
6.
Smitings (AKA) 'Modkills', means I kill you immediately (for breaking the rules) and change your role to Neutral Survivor, meaning you auto-lose. Smitings (AKA) 'Modkills' automatically end the day. Period.
7.
Play to win, just like everyone else. Don't get disheartened if you're lynched or attacked, basically don't take anything personally. If you feel somebodies behaviour has been inappropriate PM me about it and I will deal with it in some form or another.
8.
Thy mod is thy godess...however, I may make a mistake, if I do; PM me about it and I'll deal with it in some form or another.
9.
If you need help PM me...or AIM me, I'm always online (except when I'm sleeping, or in a lecture.)
10.
The mod is afraid of ghosts, don't post when you're dead, you will scare her. Leave it to end game discussion...
11.
Treat this game as a commitment, and be courteous to your fellow players. It will make everybody, including your mod happy. Smile
12.
It is my prerogative to change the rules if I deem it necessary, you shall receive a notification in thread and a PM aswell to notify you of these changes.
13.
I like receiving PM's, if anybody fancies PMing me for a chat or rant go for it. I can't talk about game specifics though, obv obv.

Mafia is a game of honor. Cheating is breaking the honor code you committed to when you joined this site.

The game will use
one
of these 4 setups, I can't tell you which it is though :p but I did randomize it using random.org. Please note, it is rare that you will come across one of these setups in a non Road to Rome game, so please prepare yourself for changes in rules, roles and setups when you sign up to other games.

Banding together, you all try to work out who is the scum responsible for the deaths of your friends and families. As this was the first time you had tried to come to a logical conclusion about something as serious as this, on your own without your parents, you were a little bit too...enthusiastic.
You grab cdubs and forcibly drag him over to the river, where you hold his head under, drowning him was the intent.
'Wait! I didn't mean it!' Doctor calls out from the crowd. 'It was an accident, I didn't know my vote would lynch him! Stop! Please! I take it back, I unvote!'
You all look at each other before one of you pipes up with 'Sorry, but the votes are final. He dies, now.'
Doctor just stood there looking downcast. He couldn't bare to watch cdubs flailing in the river, as life slowly left him.
You watch as cdub's corpse is pulled from the water.
'Uhh...what was the spell again?' One of you asked, sheepishly.
'Oh, let me.' One of the older amongst you said, stepping forward and waving your wand over cdubs body.
A green light shone over cdubs body, showing you what you didn't want to see...
You lynched cdubs, he was
a Vanilla Townie.
Night will finish at 9pm on Tuesday 12th January, English time. Scum may now talk in the quicktopics. Night Actions will be forgone if I have not received them by 9pm on Tuesday.

You arise from your beds after a good nights sleep, well for some of you anyway. Climbing out of bed, you get dressed and make your way out to the riverside. As expected, you find another body in the river.
It had been long dead.
It's clear who the victim is anyway.

You stand in the crowd looking towards the centre of the ring; Dimaba sat in the middle of it looking each and every one of you in the eye in turn.
It sent chills down your spine.
If there was a way to know who the mafia were without killing people, you would take that option. But unfortunately, you are here. You are responsible for the deaths during the day. Hopefully, this one would turn out for the better.
You watch as one of the more experienced magic practicers drew a shield around you all, to keep you safe. You dread to think what horrific way would be thought up to take the life from the latest victim of Democracy.
The clouds darkened and the air got warm with magic. Rain began to fall.
What looked like a tornado was forming.
Your eyes widened as you realised what this was and threw yourself to the ground, covering your head with your arms. You sensed the others around you doing the same.
After roughly 10 seconds you hear a piecing scream. You resist the temptation to look up and see what's happening.
Curiosity defeated you and you look up at a site you would rather have never seen in your life.
Dimaba was spinning in the tornado, 20 feet off the ground. Bright green lightening striked him every few seconds. His arm and leg already lay on the ground where it had been torn off by the force of the wind and the lightening.
With a sob, you closed your eyes, and buried your head in your arms, trying to block out the screams.
After a while, you sense the sun shining, and feel natural warmth on the back of your neck.
You look up to see Dimaba's remains on the ground and a light shining over him, they'd already done the spell. For the love of...

You rush out of your bedroom, pulling your clothes on as you went. Of course you were going to be late, you forgot to set your alarm. Silly billy. Oh well, at least you're not dead. You may not be, but there's a stong likelyhood that somebody you know is.
You get to the Riverside to see the body had already been pulled out of the River and it was recognisable to you even from a distance.

Sorry in advance about the lack of colour, I'm having trouble with the every code except underline and area today for some reason.
Apparently, just after you discovered who was night killed, you were all hit by a sleep charm (three guesses who ordered that one) and you wake up to find yourselves tied to a table with your necks directly under a guillotine.
The only way out is to shout the magic words. The name of one of the mafia members in your midst. That will kill that mafia member.
Shout the name of a non-mafia member and the whole town dies except for the mafia.
You argue amongst yourselves trying to work out who was a mafia member. Before concluding that it had to be Easjo682.
You hear a swoosh as the blade of her guillotine is let loose and her head is chopped clean off.
It rolls across the floor.
'Uh oh' A win condition has been met! A second blade crashed down and sliced off the head of...
'Oh crap! It was them all along' Doctor thought as he struggled to get out of his bonds. Unfortunately, it didn't work, if anything he tightened their hold on him.
'If you keep struggling, you'll give yourself rope burn and it'll hurt more.' Yosarian2 spoke to him in that calm, soothing voice of his.
'You're gonna kill me anyway! I should've investigated you when I had the chance!' Doctor yelled back.
'Calm yourself.' RayFrost told him sharply. 'You'll make it worse for yourself.'
'LET ME GO!'
Yosarian2 spoke again 'Quiet, it'll all be over soon.'
RayFrost yelled from the table he was tied to, 'Hey Yos, pity we cant get off these things til the last innocent has died.'
Yosarian2 chuckled. 'And now...we wait.'
Doctor began singing an old nursery rhyme under his breath.
'"Oranges and lemons" say the Bells of St. Clement's
"You owe me five farthings" say the Bells of St. Martin's
"When will you pay me?" say the Bells of Old Bailey
"When I grow rich" say the Bells of Shoreditch
"When will that be?" say the Bells of Stepney
"I do not know" say the Great Bells of Bow
"Here comes a Candle to light you to Bed
Here comes a Chopper to Chop off your Head
Chip chop chip chop - the Last Man's Dead."
He winced and closed his eyes as the said the last four words.
It was the last thing he ever knew.

Anyone have any problems with my modding?
You probably wont find a more unprofessional looking mod on MS than myself. I like to get involved and edit peoples posts at the start of the game with my own messages and make jokes and stuff.

Write, so we have quite a few improvements to make. ^.^
Number One: Keep an eye out for who's voting who. This helps reduce the risk of accidental hammering.
Number Two: Give players adequate time to defend themselves properly and claim ect.
Number Three: Discuss fully and properly, all of the options before you lynch. This doesn't mean you have to let the game drag on til deadline, that's just boring. And don't muck around and do nothing til deadline either. That lets scum hide.
Number Four: Be active. Inactivity can get a townie lynched. You don't want inactive players in lylo or mylo.
Doctor, don't L-1 a person unless you are sure they are scum. I know your intention wasn't to hammer. But it's best not to put them at L-1 unless you want them lynched just in case you do get a simulposter.
Yos was as scummy as hell during the first day. I'm surprised it wasn't picked up on actually. But then none of you have played with him before. Meta can be a useful tool when used correctly to get a good indication of another's playstyle. (That's when you try to compare someones behaviour in the current game to their previous games)

But then again, yeah, my playstyle this game was pretty direct and straightforward scum play. I would have played differently if I had opponents who had known my meta.

Heh we've all done weird things we've kicked ourselves for this game. I actually believed Chronos and Yourself were there only votes on Easjo for 6 hrs. I was sat here for 6 hrs wondering why Yos or Ray hadn't hammered yet. It took someone outside the game to tell me the game was over. I have no idea why I missed that vote, Yos, maybe I've started having selective sight
