I agree that scum wouldn't outright suggest a massclaim like you said. But that's not what Lowell did. He said:Thesp wrote:I think scum are less likely to suggest a massclaim at this point, personally. If you think Thok and Lowell are our scums, why not lynch Thok first?
That's not suggesting a massclaim. That's a subtle way of feeling out the town without committing.Lowell wrote:I forget, what was everyone's thought on a massclaim?
Still haven't had a chance to reread.-

I'm not sure why you'reLowell wrote:Okay then:
I hereby suggest a massclaim.
Now, what are everyone's thoughts? Particularly given our seeming lack of power roles, I'm not really sure why folks are so instinctively opposing this.forit. Why is this a good idea?"When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning." -Reiner Knizia

Probably because you pointed out that suggesting a mass role-claim wasn't scummy and Seta said that seeking town opinion on the topic was.Thesp wrote:I'm not sure why you're for it.
Excellent point, Claus.Claus wrote:Talking about distracting, what do you think about Thok, Lowell?

This nightscene, like the day which proceded it, isn't very long or complicated.
Thok was never the subtlest of Goons. He carried a violin case, despite no obvious musical talent, and was heard saying 'fuhgedabboudit' during conversations in Italian restaurants. Habits like this quickly gave him away, and Thok, like so many other cornered mafiosi, decided to take control of his own death. By the time the citizens had got the rope in place, he'd already swallowed the tiny cyanide capsule hidden in a filling, and felt nothing as he was raised in the air by his neck.
Thok,Mafia Goon,lynched day four.
It is now night. Choices by February 22nd, please.-

It's a beautiful day in New Catania. The sun is shining, birds are singing in the trees, and everyone's in a good mood since, for the first time since the current hysteria began,no one has died.
Fortunately for fans of old-school violence, it only took one ill-advised 'your mom' joke to whip the crowd back up into the usual lynch frenzy.
It is now day five. With six alive, it is four to lynch.-

Sweet. Scum swing two days in a row. I'm starting to feel like this game is in the bag.
Which gives us an anomoly. Since the day is starting up on the 21st, this means that the mafia no-kill was by design, not caused by inactivity. I've no experience in this area; why would the scum choose not to kill at this point? Is this a failed attempt to frame S2?The mod wrote:It is now night. Choices by February 22nd, please.
IMO, Thesp and Claus are above suspicion for now. I can't imagine scum bussing two buddies in a row and then not killing. I'd include myself here, but I already wasn't suspicious of me.
This leaves Lowell, Seta, and S2 as my suspects. Convenient that they were also my top three picks for Thok's scummbuddy. Also quite convenient that we have enough breathing room to test some theories.

Good point, I hadn't thought of this. Hopefully we get a claim and another lynch then. It's also possible we have a town doc with an accurate night choice (who shouldn't claim).Setael wrote:I'm hoping the no kill was caused by a roleblocker. If so, we've got another scum bagged.
It actually doesn't, but could have if the no-kill was withheld until tomorrow. S2 hasn't posted since February 1st, it's likely he's absconded and so wouldn't have sent in a NK. This would have been an effective framing technique if used with a little more patience.Setael wrote:
I don't understand that theory. How would a no kill implicate Someone2?Ythill wrote:Is this a failed attempt to frame S2?
However, a town power role is far more reasonable an explanation. Please excuse my dumbness.

Last night wasawesome.
Before we go lynching anyone, I would like to discuss the possibility of an invesitgative role claim only - that is, I'd like for everyone to claim if they are a cop, a roleblockerwho blocked someone last night, or neither. The failed kill gives us some room to play here.No one should claim if they are a doctor or not, and no one should claim to be a vanilla townie. I also don't want anyone to claim either way unless there's some consensus on this.

Please explain why you think a cop should claim. I agree that if a roleblocker stopped the NK, he/she should claim, and I'm fine with posting a mass yes or no on this topic.
Might be in agreement with the cop/tracker/etc mass-claim but only if I understand how it will help us.Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L

There is an implied doctor/kill-stopper in the game that can prevent the cop from dying. Scum knows this. (There is the off-chance scum decided not to kill, but I consider this highly unlikely/worth the risk at this point.) There is a more awesome scenario if we have a successful RBer last nightYthill wrote:Please explain why you think a cop should claim. FYI - when/if a cop claims, they should not claim any investigations yet."When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning." -Reiner Knizia

No cop should claim until we know there is definitely a doc. The only part of this plan I agree with is having everyone say if they are a roleblocker who blocked someone last night or not. That way we'd find out if there is no roleblocker, which would tell us there is a doc. I think if there is a cop they should wait to claim until we're sure there's no roleblocker, which would mean there is definitely a doc that can protect them tonight.Thesp wrote:I'd like for everyone to claim if they are a cop, a roleblocker who blocked someone last night, or neither.-

I don't disagree, but be careful of your surety here. No RB does not "definitely" mean we have a doc. This claim strategy has revealed the one decent excuse for a purposeful mafia no-kill.Seta wrote:I think if there is a cop they should wait to claim until we're sure there's no roleblocker, which would mean there is definitely a doc that can protect them tonight.
So far we have consensus on the mass RB-or-not claim but I suspect that a RB would have claimed already anyway. As would have a cop with a guilty result on a live player.Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L
