I am just asking due to different IC opinions ._." I want as many experienced opinions and reasons for why people would want to avoid the RVS as possible before making my own educated decision on it. I don't mind either way for the RVS, at this time. Thus, I actually did participate in the RVS, since it had started in this game anyway.don't you feel silly now?-

As I said, this is the ONLY game I've not replaced into. All the other games are ones I HAVE replaced into... including my finished game.
My opinion on the RVS (as uneducated as it is) is that it can be helpful as a source of getting conversation going, but it can be detrimental as a source of no information and halting discussion. In essence, the RVS, like any other method, is not guaranteed to work.

bwahahahahaaaa I am an overeager newbie >.> that's why I'm in about... 6 games right now and the most active poster in most of them.
Also, seeing echo's comment that way, it would be a WIFOM argument by echo, which is pointless. Also, the comment itself would not be WIFOM. Itwouldbe suspicious, though.
Although talking game theory is not necessarily useful for scum hunting directly, I think it can be of use in understanding the logic of other players (which allows viewing of contradictions in the future or understanding of how the person reached a conclusion).
MME: are you happy that the RVS seems to have finished so quickly, and that people are posting?
unvotenot rvs anymore, so yeah.don't you feel silly now?-

Hello startransmission and welcome to the game!
We have an assortment of snacks including but not limited to:
"we are no longer in RVS" pie
"please be an active poster" salad
and, my personal favorite,
"feel free to post something that would promote town discussion" flavored ice cream.don't you feel silly now?-

MME: the echo comment stuff was in response to this post by bigmc.bigmc109 wrote:The only thing that really sticks out to me as suspicious is rusty's line about scum making mistakes. I think Echo put it best when he said that's one of those lines that scum would say to make themselves seem increidbly pro-town. But it's also such a small thing that if rusty doesn't give us more scumtells, he won't even be a suspect.
>.< To be honest, the RVS is making me feel like a hunting dog being held by the leash. It's so limiting...purple princess wrote:Welcome startransmission
@ RayFrost, why are you so concerned about rvs? Just let it run it's course, once we have more to go on people will change their votes to who the think is scum. I don't really think you can put a time limit on rvs.
To be honest, I think I much prefer replacing into games over being in them from the start =/ the rvs is not for me, mentally.
@ MME: I'm not sure if I said this already, but the debate would be of value for getting to know both your and rustyshark's mindset (which would allow an understanding of your logic, which provides a basis to see logical contradictions in the future). Correct me if I'm wrong on that.
Currently, I'm in a rush to get out of the RVS because I feel constrained, which bothers me like an itch I just can't make go away. I guess I'm just impatient like that.don't you feel silly now?-

I would describe my game play as... my game play ._."
I don't really have my gameplay set in stone yet, and I probably wouldn't be sure how to describe it anyway. At least, for starting the game out kind of thing...
For replacing in, you could probably just meta me from ongoing games and newbie 815. My usual is to type an analysis post covering everything of relevance in the game so far, ranking each player from scum to town in my personal reads. (and I am annnoyed that I got quick lynched for scum victory in NG816, PP... impatience is not a virtue)
Since this is my first game where I didn't replace in... I'm unsure of what my game play will be like and how it'll be different from my replacement game play. I'll probably know a few games of it from nowdon't you feel silly now?-

Active != scum tell
The only reason somebody would be worried that the person is active and thus not suspicious enough would be if they are scum (imo). Scum want to pick off townies without drawing suspicion, and hashing it out with an active player is riskier than sniping lurkers.
FoS: Crunchii
early scumminess, how fun
I wish I knew what to do this early in the game... I guess I'll just play it like the games I've replaced into.don't you feel silly now?-

._." I didn't make a big deal of it, imo. I gave a possible explanation of why I was active.
I don't really have any idea of how to scum hunt, so I just do/type what comes to mind.
What is your opinion of MME, porky the train? You seem to have missed him.
As it is, I find crunchi = obv. newb thing to be very dismissive, and I don't really like the newb card being called (especially considering that I, myself, am a newb yet get no slack, but eh... I'd prefer no slack all around).
carrick is suspicious, but...
ash is a little more suspicious, imo. he focused on crunchi but didn't really make an attempt to apply pressure, which kinda defeats the purpose of being suspicious towards somebody. I find that to be a little scummy, along with the whole being worried about "posting too much" when posting is part of what helps town figure out their reads.don't you feel silly now?-

In response to MME:
I didn't think PP was scummy enough to have a vote, pressure or otherwise. Thus, that, in combination with it no longer being RVS, led to an unvote.

I agree on the reads of carrick/blueraven being scummy, but why do you choose to vote for blueraven when you generally don't like carrick's play?

Tubby gave a decent enough reason, and he's still on board for it. It wasn't a backpeddle - it was him ensuring that it was not possible to lynch blueraven before he could make a defense, accidentally or otherwise.PorkchopExpress wrote:@Ray:
I'll reread Ash and get back to you... and back. Ash is doing nothing to follow through on the few opinions that he has given. Given that he replaced in, I would understand, but he puts in plenty of fluffy posts right to the point of wondering out loud if he is posting too much.
Quick shift in the discussion of the direction: Do you think that Tubby's unvote was scummy?
This desire to allow somebody to actually defend themself as well as avoid the issue of discussion being cut short is (imo) indicative of pro-town thinking. At the very least, he got a few more town points.don't you feel silly now?-

Firstly, this game is completely different from the one I played, secondly, I have been busy. But i'll try and contribute more, I'll be honest and say i've only skimmed through the recent posts. Ive got nothing to hide so ill just say the truth.
Feel free to ask me questions, cuz I havent been active and theres stuff ive not read, but im willing to answer anything. And I have no idea who to vote really so i'll have to go through this long thread tonight.

I was asking you specifically, since you gave one newbie slack (so did tubby) but not the other. They are both "newbs," so it'd logically mean they would both get the slack, if any is given for that reason.don't you feel silly now?-

If he's not posting, knowing the town finds him suspicious, then he is displaying a lack of care, which is willingness to be lynched. He hasn't really defended himself, nor has he claimed. My Milked Eek wrote:

Soooo... wait.david-villa-7 wrote: RayFrost- 6. Seems friendly at the beginning of game and gives me town vibes. I know you have suspected him for a long time but that sentence is a bit OTT.
You find me scummy because I'm no longer being "friendly?" I'm still as calm as ever. Mind pointing out where I "lose my cool" for me? Also, while you are at it, point out what is actually scummy. And btw... BlueRaven did deserve to be at L-1: he deserved the pressure of it.
@ MME: think the "mislynch" bit was either an attempt to subtly say tubby is scum or do you think it was a scum slip?don't you feel silly now?-

A couple of possibilities, I guess:PorkchopExpress wrote:Mmmm... I see. How do you reconcile Tubby being the least suspicious player (to Ash) with such a theory?
Ash is scum trying to at once buddy with a townie and cast suspicion upon them

Also, reread post 252. PP (who has avoided really saying anything about Blue) spends a great deal of that post adding qualifiers to everything. It seems to me that she'd rather not get caught giving an explicit opinion on Blue.
@PP: Even though you (very quickly) threw in the towel in response to MME's request to explain your read, I'm not inclined to let you get away with not addressing the case against Blue. Actually reread the Blue discussion, and post some opinions on it. Who knows, you might even stumble across something that justifies your read along the way.don't you feel silly now?-
