Oh, so, I've seen people try to get cute lately with really really really softclaims. So, for the lulz, I wonder what everyone thinks about claiming your game of origin?
I'll state right now that I'm actually against such an idea. I want to get a bead on other people's theory standing."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

I'll probably wait for everyone to respond before I comment on various answers.
I will note we've had several posters not answer. Could you all be dears and get on that?"Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

I didn't suggest it so much as ask for opinions on it since I want to know some theory stances and see where they lead.
I'll probably inquire after more when everyone's responded."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Right, tans, but would you support one or be against one.
Also, while I'm at it, if anyone who's already answered could provide reasoning for their choice (unless you already did), it'd help immensely."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Full claim your name and role, zwet.
If it's going to be you or me...um, well, it's going to be you. I'm of far more value to the town than you could ever hope to be."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

To be clear, he very well could be a lyncher. I just don't buy the "town" part. His nameclaim makes him a lot more suspect though.
If he IS a lyncher, he's not an asset to the town. He's a pretty good lynch (though a better vig, admittedly). I'm probably going to park my vote on him until I find mafia. Claiming lyncher so early as mafia is kinda suicidal, to be fair."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. Hell, I would assume in such a heavily flavored game the mod would provide flavor falseclaims. Which is why I'm having trouble figuring out if you are scum or lyncher. You aren't town though.
Cut by McGriddle: The one about origin claims way on page 1."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

There are a lot of castlevania games. I've seen a lot of "HEY! YOU SHOULD CLAIM YOUR ORIGIN" plays in theme games a lot. I decided to pre empt them by asking about the general thoughts so I could get some theory information as well as slight intent. Also it got things moving a little."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Well, it seems a majority are against origin claim. This is a good thing.
My own arguments against it would be that it's only town benefit is trapping people in their claims from the start. I fully believe the mod would provide fakeclaims in a theme like this. It doesn't benefit the scum a whole lot either, but generally so early on, the less public info the better. Later on in the game D1 is a good day to look back at for people who have information they shouldn't.
Between his experience and his response, I have determined Dekes is likely town unless it's demonstrated that scum do actually have fakeclaims. Other responses were mostly neutral to slightly townie. I'll hit each one tomorrow when I'm a little less tired, since there were some I wanted to ask more about."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Oh? It's irrelevant to catch scum doing what benefits scum? Sounds a lot like you aren't hunting scum but easy targets. And that DOES benefit scum ^-^.

@VV: Actually, unless they DON'T have fakeclaims. Once again, read all the words. That IS actually somewhat provable depending on the quality of claim once the shit hits the fan, so to speak.
Theory can belie intent on some small level as well. It's not enough to implicate anyone, to be sure, but it's a good sorting start.
Anyway, zwet's useless and benefitting scum. Unless he somehow decides to display town intent, I'm for his lynch.
His initial gambit is not my reason for this, it's his terrible reasoning afterward for everyone he's chosen to wagon and the fact he refuses to show his work and explain WHY it makes them scummy. He's using buzzwords that have no bearing on alignment.
semi busy this morning, eye appointment and such. Will go through the answers after that."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Zwet's also generally useless so I admit I'm colored just a wee bit by the fact he's annoying ^-^;.
Admittedly, a policy lynch is a terrible idea and I would rather catch scum. So far zwet's shown the most scum intent, but it's been a really, really small amount.
At any rate, I'm gambling on KDub being a good mod and guessing that there are two ways he could have done this. One is providing fakeclaims to obvious scum like Dracula, Death, Camilla, Werewolf, Axe Armor...things like that. Two is making it so generally "good" guys are the scum in this case, convinced to do Dracula's bidding for whatever reason. Hell, that's happened in the games, so it's easily justified. The trick is figuring out which it is, but for now I'm willing to clear Dekes because I have a preference for the former solution as a mod myself.
If he does things with scum intent, of course I'll reassess my claim."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

So...um...basically everyone who votes you is somehow scum, tans? You also don't really get into the Dekes thing.

VV: Interesting lack of a stance. Any particular reason you are "meh" on it?
LMP: Nothing of note.
Katsuki: Why do you support it? (Ah, wait, you explain this.) In that case, why is the "it does no harm" explanation suitable for supporting a game claim?
jenniwren: I think you explain why you're against it later. Ok, found your explanation. Um...granted, I don't expect many universal characters, but why are you opposed if you "think it's pretty unlikely that anyone could actually figure anything concrete out based on that information, though."?
Already commented on Dekes.
tans: This is an interesting chain of reasoning. I'd REALLY HOPE that no one would vote purely on flavor.
MPR: What makes you think it wouldn't matter?
Coach Travis: Why are full claims better in such an early situation? Do you understand the (slight) benefits of locking claims vaguely as opposed to explicitly?
McGriddle: Why?
zwet: And how does it benefit the scum to speculate based purely on game?
OK, I think that's all the lead ins. Sorry, I'm more questioning than concluding at this juncture.
Also, LMP: How does it benefit scum to HOS over voting? Why do you "love your vote"?
Cut by tans:
Ok, so, how does stupid reasoning make one more likely to be scum? Please?
To be fair, that post you quote seems very defensive.
Oh, right, how does vote hopping make one more likely to be scum?
@Dekes: While I'm at it, how does defensiveness make one more likely to be scum?
I ask all these questions seriously, not with the intent to ridicule, but to understand the thought process, and also to encourage you examine your "tells" to see if they actually have scum intent in them."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

No lynch is pretty much a terrible idea til mylo. And then it's basically based on what is the best strategy.
And while you shouldn't be lazy as town, people do do it that way. The trick is to figure out if it's scum intended laziness or not."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

So, I'll be honest, this whole fight disinterests me as far as scumhunting goes. You're arguing over drops in buckets. I will notify you when some actual scum intent starts occurring. No, scum intent is a fuckton more reliable than "scumtells". Scum intent reads the person, not a checklist of what they do. Scumtells catch...the most active person. Regardless of their alignment. Scum intent can actually be intelligently read."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Gonna bet tans is town. Wagon is happening too quickly and easily for bad reasons. But hey, feel free to wagon him, at least then wagon analysis will catch the scum later.
Town.tans wrote: @everyone, what alignment is most likely to not pay attention to detail in posts?

Noted regarding claims. Thanks for the clarification. I'm in general agreement, though partial claims have a slight benefit of locking someone in a claim if done early enough. The disadvantage is of course scum generally have more tools to interpret such information than town."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

That's a ridiculously high number, tans. Usually minis are 3:9. If an SK is involved, it's generally more balanced to run 2:1:9. Admittedly, I tend to run 3:1:8. With two mafia groups it's generally 2:2:8.
Why do you think 4 scum ever?"Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Wow...that's...special. The prevalence of protective roles DOES make it slightly more balanced, but don't bodyguards die when their target is killed? I can't at all imagine this set up is a good idea, but, whatever."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Quite frankly, you're making a bunch of newbie mistakes that the less discerning will call out as scum. There ARE Scum on your wagon, but not as many as you think. At this time, I would venture a guess there is only one scum voting you, assuming three in this game.
While newbs CAN be scum, they make different mistakes."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

What you've produced are fairly weak cases. They are good for early D1, but very...um...assumptive that we know you're town. The reason I haven't really jumped in and started catching scum is they haven't played their full intent yet. There eventually ends up a post that reeks of scum intent and that's when I jump in. Course, I still am fine giving town reads as I get them."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Trouble is mislynches don't often work like that, tans. As I said, you have probably one scum on your wagon right now, if that. Further, if the town is so dumb as you say, they won't be able to engage in the wagon analysis that will catch that one scum. And I'm just as fallible as anyone else. It's too subjective. I would heavily advise against 'martyr' strategies."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

Basically it's people being frustratingly idiotic. You just have to defend yourself the best you can, make cases the best you can, and overall just brush them off when it's gotten into a circuitous argument of stupidity. I've been in your position far too many times earlier in my mafia career. It's annoying to deal with."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

@Dekes: Nope, no one's done anything of interest besides being stupid. I'm not going to force a case out when there is none. If this keeps up I'll do a reread though to look a bit closer.
That said, interested in his defense to your case, it could be enlightening ^-^."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."
