When cake is scum, he likes to shade people. He shades people to keep them from being townblocked and he shades his partners to distance. This is different from actually pushing and casing people, what I am talking about are posts that just kind of call people scummy without a lot of follow up. Let’s look at D1 of some other large themes Cake has played in to back up this point.

Case study 1 - Scum - Among Us
Day 1 consists of posts 0-2483. Cake had me particularly fooled in this game, so I went back and read it to see what he did. Here are posts where I think he is “shading” other players:

Cake is constantly shading a wide range of people in this game. He never develops a strong push anywhere though. He is very willing to go with the flow and vote with the crowd. He claims he wants a no elim but will still occasionally vote with a popular wagon to get a possible miselim through.

Case study 2 - Town - Smoke-Filled Antechamber
Day 1 consists of posts 0-1835.

Cake is much more focused on a smaller subset of players and is actively pushing more. He drove an elim on Taylor by trying to get others to vote with him and was loud about Cabd, Nahdia, and SS. Let’s see if this holds for two more games.

Case Study 3 – Scum - Xenoblade 2 Mafia
Day 1 consists of posts 0-2770.

Cake again shades a much larger pool in this game. He focuses a lot on BM and Noraa, but throws shade on a number of others as well. Noticeably, basically his only strong TR is gamma.

Case Study 4 – Town - Guns & Roses IV
Day 1 consists of posts 0-2226.

Cake has a lot of shade targets here, but is mostly focused on this group {eyestott, ABR, votato, Maria}. The most important difference is that he is actually pushing them, and has real TRs that he expresses throughout his iso.

maria was already a universal TR when she made this post, so it's difficult to see the scum intent behind deliberately switching off of the wagon and the momentum that she singlehandedly created. the most simple answer is that her progression is coming from a town mindset

Voting Noraa is a good way to read her, when I saw people shading her I wanted to see if there would be a wagon and who would actually commit. Like if you made a diagram of my Gypyx scumread sheeping SPF would be 33% but then the other 66% would be the original reasoning on my own that I've pointed out.
I find SPF to be quite town so her approval of Gypyx scum makes me feel more confident.

I did explain it, I used it to read Noraa and once I had a TR on her I wanted to see how others interacted with her wagon. I was looking for scum who would shade Noraa without voting her, as voting Noraa often causes a lot of pain for you and is something you would want to avoid as scum. This was what had me looking at Cake more closely.
