0: As the mod, I mean DEVIL, my judgement is final in all things. You are welcome to correct me if I make a mistake, however I will not tolerate disrespect in this thread. Feel free to shoot me an angry PM or complain about my modding style elsewhere, but not in the game thread.
1: This is an open game. I will never lie to you. All role PMs will be shown. All vote and lynch mechanics are normal. Do not speculate on the mechanics of the game. If you have a question, ask me in thread or via PM.
2: Do not discuss this game outside of this thread.
3: Do not use offensive language. Swearing is allowed, unless somone requests otherwise. Do not make personal attacks. "Your play sucks" is acceptable. "You suck" is not.
4: Use either VOTE: tags or

tags to vote for people, or they will not be counted. Unvoting is optional. You may vote "No-Lynch" if you wish. A basic majority is required to lynch a player. To No-Lynch, only half the players need vote No-Lynch.
5: Do not attempt to disguise text, and do not attempt to hide extra messages in text.
6: As soon as you are lynched or otherwise killed, stop posting.
7: Post every 48 hours or be prodded and recieve a strike. Three strikes and you are replaced.

The sheep argue, debate, and drink tea. Hoofs were pointed at Empking, but they dropped when they heard his claims. Soon all eyes fell on Twistedspoon. Realizing that the majority was on their side, the sheep grew more bold in their attacks, until DeityKabuto suddenly sprang forward and shoved Twistedspoon into the pit that contained the Killing Stone.

The sheep watched his body fall with bated breath, and Twistedspoon's final scream was abruptly ended by a sickening squish. Peering into the pit, they saw sheep intestines and other gore surrounding a bloody impaled mess.

In a blinding flash the DEVIL appeared. Standing over the pit, he watched as Twistedspoon's spirit rose up toward him. The sheep watched, eager to see if the soul would be claimed. But no such luck, Twistedspoon rose up towards the sky, disappearing among the clouds.

The DEVIL waved his staff (oh yeah did I mention I have this totally awesome staff?) and darkness descended upon the Republic. It was a horrible darkness, full of foul things.

Luckily, the sheep knew the darkness would only last until Friday.

Twistedspoon has been lynched. He was a Vanilla Townie.

At long last, the darkness lifts, and sheep gaze upon the bloody ground. There's a bit of wool to one side, what looks like a spleen somewhere else, and fragments of bone splintered everywhere. The Devil appears once more. In a flash of light, a ghostly figure appears next to him. You know who it is. The spectre has a strange glow to it, the spirit is brimming with magic. In one gesture, the handsome Devil lets the magical ghost ascend to the sky above, then he himself vanishes once more.

As one, the remaining sheep turn to look back at the Killing Stone. Time to try once again, and rid yourselves of the EVIL menace lurking among you. They might have killed your Seer, but they won't take your homeland.

It was another long day of debate. The sheep, weary from the night's events, watched each other closely. Former suspicions had to be reexamined, old friends could no longer be trusted. In a fit of madness, some sheep even began accusing the DEVIL of making mistakes in Vote Counts. As if such a thing were possible!

Eventually, most of the yelling became focused on cjdrum. DeityKabuto and MagnaofIllusion's eyes glowed with bloodlust, stirring the other sheep into a frenzy of excitement. "He's scum, I'll bet you anything," they cried. "FINE," cjdrum shrieked. "HAVE IT YOUR WAY!"

And with that, cjdrum leaped into the pit.

(I'll let you provide your own gruesome sound effects.)

With a familiar crash, the DEVIL appeared, looking more handsome and sexy than ever. With a wave of his hand, he conjured up cjdrum's spirit to face him. Then, with a booming laugh, he struck his staff into the earth, splitting it open like a grapefruit. cjdrum's ghostly figure plunged into the depths.

And with another crash, all went dark.

cjdrum has been lynched. He (or she, not sure which) was a Mafioso.

Deadline for day three is up in the air, due to two factors. First, I would like to get a replacement for Sloth before the day starts. Second, I will have limited access for much of next week, and when I can make a post, I will probably be too tired. So I might have to put the game on hold for that time. Sorry, I'll try and start the day as soon as possible.

I realize the V/LAs may be a problem, however seeing as how every player in the game made at least one post on the last page, they should've seen my deadline warning earlier in the thread and raised concerns then. Nobody appears to have forgotten about the game or lost track of it. I don't see much point in keeping the thread open indefinitely as long as all the players continue pushing for their ideal lynch.

Currently 8 votes are spread out between 3 major wagons and 2 minor ones. A week ago there was only 1 major wagon and 3 minor ones. This is a significant step backwards. I don't think the problem is inactivity, I think it's the refusal of the players to compromise. A time limit should solve this. Vote not for the person you find scummy, but that the entire town finds scummy and we'll be fine.

I will grant an extension if there are still V/LA players at that point AND there has been some real progress made towards deciding a lynch.

Half the sheep were gently dozing in a grassy meadow (yes, they have grassy meadows in jungle) and the other half were screaming at each other when day broke on Jungle Republic. As the day wore on, the sheep realized that they needed to kill someone, or their pretty meadow would be covered in bloodstains. Being resourceful beasts of cunning and fuzzy wool coats, they quickly decided to argue about the death some more. MagnaofIllusion and neil1113 were tied up and hung over the edge of the deadly pit, now beginning to fill up with sheep carcasses. Suddenly, to the protests of some of the sheep who were no longer sleeping, MagnaofIllusion was untied, and he fell into the pit.

After his final rattling breath had been drawn, the DEVIL appeared, swathed in fire and meringue. With a few cool thunderbolt sound effects, he motioned towards MagnaofIllusion. The clouds parted, and a white light shone down from above. It engulfed MagnaofIllusion, and the other sheep stared as he slowly ascended to the sky. Suddenly he turned back and shouted: "DON'T FORGET TO KILL WHO I ASKED FOR OK?" to the chagrin of the DEVIL who promptly shot some lightning up his ass. Then the world went dark.

MagnaofIllusion, Vanilla Townie, has been lynched day 3.

Countdown to next day.

I'd like to take this moment to remind everyone that once lynched, you are dead, and you are not allowed to post any more. MagnaofIllusion is spared, but anyone else who does this will be given an auto-loss.

The sheep awoke in darkness.

And waited in darkness.

And waited.

Eventually, a very tired DEVIL got around to removing the darkness. And as the sheep's eyes adjusted to the light, they looked around to see who did not survive the night. It only took a few moments to realize who that ghostly form floating towards the sky was.

With 6 alive it is 4 to lynch.

OK, I thought I'd take this moment to review the faction wincons.

The wincon for both scum factions is the same. Either team can win when any of the following is achieved:

A) The only remaining players are with the scum faction.

B) The scum faction comprises at least half the living players with at least one town member left alive.

C) Nothing can prevent either A) or B).

It is possible for the Mafia and Werewolves to draw the game if there are an equal number of each scum faction alive with no town left.

It is not a violation of the rules to claim scum, however quoting, linking to, or otherwise using a scum quicktopic to prove a point will result in a autoloss.

Can we agree to a draw? Or does the draw have to be played out?

Also not sure how mafia and werewolves could ever draw outside of agreeing to it. They can never achieve their wincon simultaneously...

As long as the town still has a chance of winning, the scum cannot agree to a draw. And when the town no longer has a chance of winning, it will likely be endgame anyway. So it has to be played out.

This is literally impossible to occur. If it's 2 v 2, oh no town players alive neither scum faction wins. If it's 1 v 1 oh no town players alive neither scum faction wins. I'm wondering why I joined this game to begin with because this is honest to god pathetic.

It occurs if there is 2 of one scum faction, one town, and one of the other scum faction. If there are 2 members of each scum faction left alive, the game is a draw.

"Dammit!", the DEVIL shouted angrily. He wasn't expecting to have to plunge the town into darkness again so quickly. He showed up wearing a bathrobe and shower-cap. But he still looked totally badass.

The DEVIL peered down the pit where neil1113's body had fallen. As he watched, another spectre rose up to greet him. It still had the outline of a sheep. The DEVIL looked at the five sheepish figures remaining on the ground, smiled to himself, and with a sudden motion sent neil1113's body plunging towards the depths of hell before vanishing himself.

neil1113, a Mafioso, has been lynched Day 4.

Immediately, a frightening transformation began to take place. Regfan and havingfitz's hair stood on end, it grew longer and silker. Fangs appeared in their mouths, their legs became longer and stronger. It wasn't long until they had become pure WOLF.

zMuffinMan leaped forward, eyes blazing with fire, and let forth a terrible scream of fury. But he was no match for the two wolfs which cut him down with no mercy. HezLucky and DeityKabuto turned to flee, but the charging, bloody wolves easily leaped on them and ended their lives with a few savage bites.

The two weary, bloody werewolves looked out at the calmness of Jungle Republic. Finally, their kind would no longer be persecuted. Finally, they could live in peace.

The Town has failed to meet it's win condition! Twistedspoon, LynchMePls, Empking, HezLucky, DeityKabuto, Wickedestjr, and MagnaofIllusion have LOST!

The Mafia has failed to meet it's win condition! neil1113, zMuffinMan, and cjdrum have LOST!

The Werewolves have met their win condition! Regfan and havingfitz have WON!

Thanks to farside22 for taking sign-ups, answering my question about game draws, and being a fabulous list mod in general. Thanks to Kelly Chen for designing the setup. Thanks to all you players, particularly Regfan, LynchMePls, and havingfitz for replacing in extremely quickly and allowing the game to continue seamlessly. This was my first game modding, hopefully I did an OK job. I'll be making a longer post with my thoughts later on.

OK, so some of you (Regfan) didn't like the mechanic where claiming Mafia could avoid your lynch. Personally, I thought it could have very interesting results, and add a new dimension to the game. Mafia claims benefit Town the most, since it narrows lynch choices.

The Seer would've proven invaluable in a case like the one we saw Day 4, where two different people claim Mafia. Empking's early death really messed balance up in that regard. The role didn't have to identify a Werewolf, it just needed to prove that someone wasn't a werewolf. If neil had been cleared when he claimed, Regfan would've been lynched instead, and it's very likely neil would've been investigated at some point. Town would likely have won then.

The draw mechanic also seemed to cause some worries. Personally, I would've given the Werewolves the win had it gotten to 2 : 2, but farside22 said a draw was the proper move. I can kind of see how it's balanced, since I can't think of a situation where both scum factions could deprive the Town of a win and draw the game, but I agree that it does encourage Mafia claims and not playing to your wincon.

I actually did find a flaw in the setup. All the endgame situations worked out nicely UNLESS there was a no-lynch or no-kill some time in the game. A no-lynch could've resulted in a day with two of each scum, and one townie. The townie would've had no reason to keep playing, since he had already lost. So in retrospect, I shouldn't have allowed no-lynches or no-kills. It also would've saved a lot of debate Day 4.

I think Regfan's Mafia counter-claim was a mistake, personally. It reduced the lynch choices to either Regfan or neil, a 50% chance of a wolf dying instead of a 33% chance. After the last lynch, HezLucky and DeityKabuto were both potential lynch candidates. The play of aiming for Town instead of Mafia was also odd. It would've been better to reduce the Mafia to one member, in my opinion. But the results speak for themselves, and they played a good game overall.

Town played rather poorly. The attacks were often devoid of logic and full of ad hominem. The main reason I set a deadline that one day was to encourage Town to compromise, to work together towards a lynch. People weren't seeing each other's cases, kept pushing their own. It was this lack of unity that did the town in. Nobody wanted to admit they were wrong.

The Mafia had good ideas and strategy, but failed to execute them properly. A good example is at the beginning of the game, when neil feigned innocence to gain townie points. He played it far too strongly, and ended up taking flak for it. Ironically, they could've been a great asset to Town against the wolves.

In short, if I was to run this game again, I would change two things:

1. No-Lynches would not be allowed.

2. I would add a backup and/or deputy Seer role to the game.

I would also like to see a version of this game with Mason roles. Both scum factions figured out who the others were Night 3. I wonder if Masons could've provided the same benefit to the Town...

I still don't see how claiming mafia breaks the game. If anything, the game was broken because both scum teams correctly guessed the setup. Which meant that no townie was going to be lynched. Still, the WIFOM of who was wolf and who was mafia should've been quite entertaining, pity it was cut short.

There's no dead QT, looks like that should be a feature in my future games.

Even after the claim, Mafia had a chance of winning. If Regfan was lynched, havingfitz would have no choice but to kill Neil. Then if havingfitz was lynched, it would be a 3p lylo with Mafia having a 1/3 chance of winning.
