Quick facts: New players should start with playing one game here before playing elsewhere. Post in this thread that you'd like to play in the next available game. ("/in for next" is a standard way of doing so) Anyone (new or old) may only be signed up for one game at a time unless additional experienced players are needed.

Prospective moderators must have modded two or more games that ended without major modding issues and post here to be added to the modding rotation.

Airotcia: You're down for the next game. I don't think anyone's ever been rejected from a newbie except in cases of blatant violations of the rules. Some larger games might say that they want people who are more experienced because they're generally more reliable, but the newbies exist to start people off.

That's the requirement for a Mini or Normal game. Theme requires one successfully completed modded game, and Newbie requires two.

However, if I'm moderating a newbie game, does that mean I cant play in a different newbie game? I saw something about not being on the same list twice, but perhaps that was just for moderating only.

That part refers to any one modding category; you can't be modding a normal and on the waitlist for a normal, or on the waitlist for both mini halves.

If you don't meet the experience qualifications for IC (3 months and 5 games here or another approved site), you're a newbie, and can play one game. If you do, you're IC, and can generally play in more than one if there's need for ICs, which there often is.

how long it usually takes to get in a game? Wouldn't want to wait long.

Each newbie game has 4 new players and 3 experienced players (Unless there's a real shortage of the experienced, in which case I make a 5/2 split). You're 8th on the list of new players, so you'll be in the game after next to start, once enough experienced players show up for the next two games. Looks like at the moment games are starting every 2-4 days on average, so I'd guess a week tops, probably much shorter.

Yes; the moderator of the game will send you a PM with your role, which means that the game is ready to begin and a thread has been posted in the Road to Rome forum.

According to the Newbie list rules, newbies can only be in one game at a time because there's generally a shortage of experienced players and mods anyway. If you'd like to play more, feel free to join a mini game (If you're not already playing in four) or a larger game.

So here's where the Newbie list is at:

I don't have a backup of the front post, and it looks like this one is at least a few more days out of date than everything else. Once we're done with the fallout, I'll try to update it, but signups since then are pretty much lost.

If you're a new player and your registration was forgotten by the crash, it'd probably be best to reregister by the same name. If you were in a game, contact the mod of that game if at all possible or post here.

For ongoing games, it's the mod's call. If a game hasn't started yet, but you still have the playerlist, contact the players and do what you can. If the thread's been erased, let me know what you have to work with. I think the first thing we need to figure out is where the mods are at, and I'm going to be mass-PMing the current mods now to try to do so.
